Lucille Ball always seemed so touched by standing ovations (this one and Kennedy Honors, etc). It’s almost like she didn’t truly believe that she was as loved as she was. I can honestly say, Lucille Ball has made me laugh my entire life. I remember being very young in the mid 60’s, and it was always a treat to watch whatever show she was in. My bedtime was 9 pm, except on Monday night. I was allowed to stay up until 9:30 to watch Lucy. I was sad when “Here’s Lucy” ended, but it was probably time. I Love Lucy is probably the best comedy television ever produced, and I can only imagine, will still be on 100 years from now. Her comedy is timeless and joyful. Not like today where everything is vulgar. She was, and still is a national treasure. I remember her last public appearance, a few weeks before her death, at the Oscar show. She looked like a million bucks, and then she was gone. Her kind of talent comes around once in a lifetime and we’re all the better for laughing along with her. My favorite episode, that still has me laughing like it’s the first time, every time, “Hollywood at Last”. Who wouldn’t laugh at the scenes between she and William Holden? Her nose going up in flames? Pure genius. I think I’ve gone on too long, but I’m a fan, as should everyone else.

I remember when she passed. I went to a gay bar that night, and the drag performers where all Lucy. It was fun and sad at the same time. Now the younger generation has no idea who she is unless they watch retro TV
They'll never be another Lucy...... some may try, but they'll never top her. Like another said, when a legend walks into the room, you stand up. She's a legend for a reason. And always, always a class act. I love lucy! R.I.P...... you're still missed and loved.
I’m crying cause I love Lucy’s work. She entertained me so many still and still to this day in 2021 I watch and love her. Shows you don’t need a fake face and butt to be entertaining and loved.
Her performances are TIMELESS . Just *today* I was watching the Bill Holden episode where her nose catches on fire. Again, I laughed till I fell out of my chair.
Lucille Ball was the ticket to my entertainment of classics. I love Lucy was my very first show that I watched, and it’s one of the only shows that is still hilarious to this day to me, that I can nonstop watch. Though Lucille Ball passed, her impact on television is still seen. Generations of all ages still tune in to watch I love Lucy, from television to streaming services like Hulu and RUclips. If Lucille Ball were to see her impact in today’s world, she’d be stunned. Millions of people know her name and watch her amazing shows. I truly believe that we will never get another “Lucille Ball”
She was an amazing talent. From I Love Lucy, to the Lucy Show, From Yours, Mine and Ours to The Stone Pillow. Never did you hear about or see her wasted on booze or drugs. She was everyone's favorite red head. And for those that gave this a thumbs down, why don't you go sit in a corner and eat worms.
She went through it, and she overcame it. The world, and the Hollywood she inherited did not want her, and did not willingly make a place for her, so she made one herself. Sexism, an abusive marriage, unsupportive social norms, she obliterated it all for herself, and left a trail for other women to do the same. A true legend, she laid claim to one of America’s most beloved syndicated comedy shows, ran her own television studio, and did it all with class, grace, wit, and humor. Lucille Ball is, and will forever more, be one of the greatest business executives, philanthropists, and entertainers to ever walk this earth. May she rest in peace. 👏🏽
Angel Rios one of the most insightful comments about Lucy I’ve ever read, she. Did overcome so much and made a place for herself - the very top. Her only pitfall was to fall in love with a very flawed human being who had to lose , desi couldn’t shake his poor beginning , it stayed with him because subconsciously kept trying to return there. Deep down he felt he didn’t deserve a perfect life that he himself made for himself . Lucy was grateful but she knew she earned it . She died with a man who stood by her , a man who never left her down , a man she wasn’t in love with, there wasn’t a day Lucy didn’t hurt over desi although her tough upbringing told her to stop it and move on. It was still in her heart as she smokes her anxiety about it away but it never went away. It left her bitter at times.
Len Welch Well said. She was emotionally honest and most of us could see how she never really got over Desi. In moments like this video, despite her success and renound reputation and love, she showed humility and professionalism. One of a kind. THAT is the Lucy we loved. What a special soul to have graced millions through television.
She was a humble, hard working lady, I don’t think she ever turned a job down. Even after she made her legacy, the arts meant that much to her. Carol Burnett said she would say, “when do you need me kid”. Maybe her tears are also from the difficult loss that she suffered as a result of her triumphs. The loss of a partnership, and a passionate marriage. Yet in the end she did it her way. I love your comment. Thank you for posting that.⭐️
@@lenwelch2195 I wouldn't say loving Desi was a pitfall because it was the two of them together that broke so many barriers. It was a challenging relationship that I believe actually made Lucy a stronger, more resilient, compassionate, creative force.
Class act. I watched her every day growing up (in the 90s; my parents were weird!) I can’t think of anyone more symbolic of the female comedian.. no one holds a candle to this incredible force of nature. Lucy, we love you to pieces Rest Easy you beautiful crack-up ♥️
Wow , you really could tell that Lucy really felt the love … Of all the people she touched in her industry and all of us who ‘grew up’ watching her sitcoms throughout the many years . Who hasn’t teared up watching this ❤️🥲❤️
When it was still common for men to beat their wives and others to turn their heads. When rape trials involved accusing the woman of provoking it. Better times. Sure. This video is lovely, but romancing the past helps no one.
'when the world was a better place' what a joke. Yeh, unless you were a POC, a woman or gay or trans etc. Don't romanticize the past over a nice gesture.

Very well written and I agree with everything you wrote.❤
Please give me back this era. I was happier with 3, maybe 4 TV channels and simple communication. Life became derailed.
Such a genuine display of real emotion is what I observed most in this clip.
Total class. Lucille was the embodiment of class. ❤️
always a professional.
A legend in her own time. Stand up out of respect! I Love Lucy❤
Still a legend, I'm happy to say
I remember when she passed. I went to a gay bar that night, and the drag performers where all Lucy. It was fun and sad at the same time. Now the younger generation has no idea who she is unless they watch retro TV
I think most younger people do know of her because her legacy has been so pervasive.
But they do watch. And they laugh, just as their parents and grandparents laughed. That kind of genius comedy withstands time.
@@deirdre581 I am a young person and I can attest to that
Gay bar? WTF
I don't know this lady, but I certainly look at her tv work.
What an important person. My life wouldn’t have comedy without her.
It’s 2023 and we STILL LOVE LUCY ❤
This made me smile. Grew up watching her.
One of the all time great dames. Funny and beautiful. This is how one faces growing older. And she had style. That’s the secret.
They'll never be another Lucy...... some may try, but they'll never top her. Like another said, when a legend walks into the room, you stand up. She's a legend for a reason. And always, always a class act.
I love lucy!
R.I.P...... you're still missed and loved.
What amazing times they were. How it aches me to know they will never come back.
I Love LUCY!!! and all her shows and casts.. One in a million!!
Don't forget The Wonderful absolutely gentleman of them all Gale Gordon !!!!!
I’m crying cause I love Lucy’s work. She entertained me so many still and still to this day in 2021 I watch and love her. Shows you don’t need a fake face and butt to be entertaining and loved.
Aww I was only 2 months away from being born 😁
I love Lucille Ball
Such a beautiful tribute to a legend.
must feel even more special coming from her peers.
No matter how many times I watch I love Lucy I always laugh my ass off...she is the queen of comedy no one can compare to...a true call act
Her performances are TIMELESS . Just *today* I was watching the Bill Holden episode where her nose catches on fire. Again, I laughed till I fell out of my chair.
their comedy was so inventive, fresh and included slapstick and physical comedy, so brilliant.
I just love Lucille. She was so funny and still is on the reruns. Thank you Lucille for all the laughs.
I'm pretty sure Lucy felt the love that night. RIP Lucy!
Shirley MacLaine was so gorgeous here -
I Love you Ms Lucille Ball.. you are certainly missed. your comedy is your legacy that will never die
I remember watching I Love Lucy with my mum when I was a child. We used to be crying with laughter ! What an amazing talented lady she was.
she was always so gracious to her audience!
What a treasure we will always have in Lucille Ball. She was an amazing actress and comedian. I will always love her!
I have great love and admiration for this woman. I love Lucy, she has made me laugh a million times over, her show will live forever.
her standards, her work has influenced SO many all over the glove. A true pioneer. And Desi as well.
What a classy woman! Always loved her & still do. There will only be 1 Lucy!
The true Queen of Comedy.
You cant not love her. There will never be another. Im just glad she knew how much she was loved. Even now ❤❤❤❤
She went through it, and she overcame it.
Thank you for posting that.⭐️
Thank you Sir.
@@lenwelch2195 I wouldn't say loving Desi was a pitfall because it was the two of them together that broke so many barriers. It was a challenging relationship that I believe actually made Lucy a stronger, more resilient, compassionate, creative force.
Love you Lucy no other compare comedian can replace you rip.
Who hasn’t teared up watching this ❤️🥲❤️
The term “greatest of all time” gets thrown around a lot and usually it’s unwarranted but not for her she is undoubtedly the greatest of all time.
She was beloved and I'm happy she lived long enough to see it.
When the world was a better place. When class and respect were shown. Man I miss those days.
Totally agree!!!!!
When it was still common for men to beat their wives and others to turn their heads. When rape trials involved accusing the woman of provoking it. Better times. Sure. This video is lovely, but romancing the past helps no one.
jelly donuts says a person of privilege
'when the world was a better place' what a joke. Yeh, unless you were a POC, a woman or gay or trans etc. Don't romanticize the past over a nice gesture.
@@nerdieone1 The 1960s through the 1980s were great times and many wonderful people like Lucille Ball walked this earth!!!!!
Still my favorite comedian of all time!!! I really love Lucy!!!!❤
forever and always an iconic legend
Magnanimous in accepting praise.
A true legend who brought laughter and happiness to millions across the world.
I love Lucy.💗
This is what is missing from today's hollywood
This is what is missing from today's America.
We are missing class, love, empathy, care and most of all we had forgotten to be humans
Amen to that.
From any of it. No class. No respect. No dignate. No morales. Hell half don't even have talent.
We were so lucky to grow up with Lucy on television every week. Nothing today compares to her.
I am glad that, towards the end of her life, she received the proper recognition for her work.
No words of love and praise, no number of awards could adequately express the love and admiration this woman deserves.
