Really worthwhile video ... I get SO tired of video content that offers very little substance but endless blabbering. I agree with 95% of your points. Appreciate the effort to put this out there.

Did this last week for the first time, agree with everything. Went from south end northward. Took it slow, still got caught off guard on a couple blind curves. Then I hit that area of tar snakes.. not fun. Had to really be careful.

Excellent video! NO one speaks about the "what ifs" and what is really going on, they just video about how great of a ride it is, and I am sure it is, but nice to know some cautions from a rider's point of view. Thank you for sharing

Glad you enjoyed the video. Considering making a few more "from my experience," type videos soon!

I loved the Nickel fun ride. Not as scenic as the Back of the Dragon but still beautiful. Had a few surprise buggies and horse drawn wagons with road apples to look out for but that actually added to the flavor.

An excellant word of warning of St RT 555. I live about thirty miles from the South end of 555 and it is NOT my favorite road to ride. There are so many other, prettier roads to ride in SE Ohio. St. Rt. 124 from Pomeoy to Hocking port is one of my favorutes. There are places where there is a rock wall on one side of the road and the Ohio River just a few feet from the other side.
A little father North you find Nelsonville in Athens county. I like to ride RT 78 from Nelsonville to McConnesville. There is a view on Rt 78 just before you get to 555 that is breath taking. And there are many other side roads that take you to such places like New Straightsville and Shawnee. Rt 13 is a nice ride from Athens to South Zanesville, not very challenging, but a nice ride.
Even farther north in Hocking cointy where you find the Hocking Hills Region. Here another favorite is RT 374, I love every inch of it, but from there you can find Thompson Ridge which takes you to Laurelville. On the ridge there are some views that remind you of the Blueridge Parkway, but not near as high. There is also Big Pine road which runs down in the valley from just east of Laurelville and almost back to Logan.
IN the same area is Rt 664 which is nice and Rt 56 from Athens to Circleville can be challenging, but I'm OLD now and ride a lot slower, so to me it is just a pretty road to ride.
I hope you explore some of these roads and maybe make videos of them, share the beauty.
Ride safe and enjoy every journey.

Sr 26, 145,148 are all better and longer rides. Nothing in Ohio compares to the Dragon. I have ridden all over s.e. Ohio and 555 is fun but others are equal or better.

I drove 555 from Athens to Zanesville a few years ago. I didn't like it due to the blind crests. Too many & too big for me.

The blind crests make the road exciting. I prefer it to the dragon.
