@@SobrietyandSolace its a valid point, but i feel as though the direct approach in this context is really heart wrenching, its a painful realization and surrender to a truth he wishes were avoidable, but of course, is not. It feels like the certain point you reach where theres nowhere left to run and nothing to escape to, so being straightforward is really the only choice, albeit painful.
When you get your heartbroken that line really hits deep. You feel like you’re less than the other person. Love joji so much

Oddly I would listen to slow jams and albums like the trilogy on repeat before Football games. I felt like it kept my mind clear and got home focused… idk it’s so odd to me.

when this song first came out, i disliked it because it wasn't like his usual style. looking back, it was way ahead of its time. it's so relatable too if you've been thru this type of thing. a very powerful song.
7 years of being strung along by a guy who eventually confessed to loving be but never wanted to be with me but never wanted me to leave either. I would cook his breakfast and do his laundry while he fucked my best friend upstairs, but when they were having issues, I’d be the one he called at 4 in the morning drunk telling me how much he wanted me, but I’d come over and then he’d treat me like shit

I dunno how old he is but I'm 43 and still listen to everything. If you have a thirst for music and exploring new artists, it really doesn't go away. Doesn't apply to everyone though - I don't think my wifes researched a new music artist in 20 years.

Sometimes by finding out your own message in a song is to find out theirs as well. Doing forms of art myself I find this true. Artirts do what they do for a reaction. A lot of times people tell stories of their life through expressions of their life. Feelings can be felt in more than one way.
This is and continues to be my favorite song for the past few years, it brings me so much comfort, emotions, passion, and enjoyment when I listen to it. Like that other commenter said, it is my comfort song whenever I need to feel again, happy or sad.
I feel like this is the other perspective to glimpse of us. Cause he says you look at me like someone else, which is like he says about the new girl he’s dating he sees his old relationship. I feel like they are connected

Like listening the song on it's own I don't realize how sad it is, Seeing a psychotherapist explaining what the song is giving it really hits way too deep and makes me realize a lot of things from the song to my own life, It's wild how it hit with each part he explains.

His hooves represent what got him into fame. His sillyness, his fantasy, his craziness. The arrow represents how it is slowly killing him, hence slow dancing in the dark, his darkness was what brought him fame. The arrow in his back represents that. *you should be with him i cant compete* is pretty much saying he doesnt believe in himself to be the musical artist he originally wanted to be when he first started out making videos. this isnt about a woman its just an anecdote (Atleast my perspective)

Poor man physically hurt during the that first prolonged "dark", then started grinning during the second one. Deeply felt.
We danced slowly in the dark to this song. It didn’t work out though. Now when it comes on it takes me all the way back to the bliss of that moment and I can almost feel her warmth again.
This song is like break even by the script, but harder. That song was good, but this is a masterpiece, the feels this song gives the pain of someone moving on from you hits way harder here.

you are so right actually. Joji is suffering from depression. he talked about it years ago even before he became famous. those were the type of videos he was doing before he became Filthy Frank. i am so glad he shifted to his "real talent" which is making music.
