It's possible that the "Cosmos Serpent" is a Jormungandr (world serpent) analogue rather than a Nidhoggr analogue, but MTG could also combine the two, since popular culture tends to get them confused.

I can see why you dropped the list early, just means that it dropped at 6AM and I was asleep. No idea how to turn that into a suggestion for "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)." So I'll say that when you were talking about the raid mechanic I seriously expected a sponsor for RAID: Shadow Legends.

a set with a theme of indian mythology would be nice someday. Damn, they could bring out god tribal. Then you can have many cool things with reincarnation. Man, im really hoping for it one day...
I find it cool that m21 had all kinds of foreshadowing to later sets, like the Enforcer for rogues and Azusa for landfall. Finally, we found the reason for the odd inclusion of our favorite dwarf - Staunch Shieldmate! (The vanilla 1/3 for 1.)
I like how the gods (seemingly, from a single sample) don't have any immortality mechanics in this set. Gods dying tends to come up a lot in Norse myth so the fact that the cards can just flat out die is great.
You can play the White God and equip him with his weapon! He'd be like a 6/4 double striker or something, pretty cool flavour and a way to work around having playsets of legendary cards in your deck.
I think Hyoscyamus niger seeds is more likely behind the trance. But WotC sometimes caters to pop culture instead of the original source. Also I don't think Amanita Muscaria is one letter away from having a racial slur in it.
Boy, so hyped for that history channel of yours nizza!! I´m a sociologist so i love that kind of stuff. Would love some mixture of history and mtg lore if you want to mix a bit those fields!!
There was some dwarf tribal in Odyssey block with 16 dwarfs in the block. And of the 70 dwarfs in magic, only 32 are from Kaladesh or newer. Before Kaladesh the most recent appearance of dwarfs was Eventide with 4 creatures. The first appearance of dwarf creature type was Alpha with 2 creatures.
@@NizzahonMagic Odyssey block dwarfs were just a sub-theme, but did have Dwarven Bloodboiler and Dwarven Recruiter. Plus most the the block's land destruction and disruption in tied to the dwarfs. Saddly the dwarven lord is a Barbarian lord, Balthor the Stout.
Izzet Giants is a thing in Kaldheim! One of the giants they spoiled, Surtland Elementalist, seems to be built for spellslinging, so I guess they're balancing Giants by filling out the early part of their mana curve with instants and sorceries, although the Elementalist would probably pair better with expensive instants and sorceries so I imagine that curve would mostly be filled with mana rocks like Midnight Clock and might even splash green to gain access to The Great Henge which could probably be cast for cheap pretty consistently in a giants deck, and they'd probably be splashing green anyways to get access to Uro. Actually while we're on the topic of splashing green it'd probably be more effective to ditch mana rocks in favor of green ramp spells, since those are usually instants or sorceries.
So far I guess the Limited Themes for Kaldheim are Giant tribal for Izzet, Berserker tribal for Rakdos, Dwarf Tribal for Boros, Shapeshifter tribal for Simic, Angels/Valkyries for Orzhov and Elves for Golgari. Tribal all the day! I'm hooked!
Could be a Queen of the Valkyries card that allows non-spirit Barbarians, Warriors, Berserkers etc. to return as a token with Spirit in addition to its other types. Let them come back as a spirit version of themselves for one last battle (a la the warriors of Vahalla returning for Ragnarok)? I’ve probably made a Norse mistake there somewhere, but I think the idea is sound
Valkyries are already confirmed. So far a white angel and a black angel berserker has been spoiled along with tribe support in the shape of a cleric that allows you to cast angel creatures at a discount.
Níðhöggr GUBRW Legendary Creature - Beast, Snake Níðhöggr costs 1 mana less to cast if it was cast with only mana from basic lands. When Níðhöggr enters play, tap all non-basic lands, they do not untap during the next turn. 1, ↺: Put up to 2 target creatures from graveyards into the battlefield under their owners control, then their controller exiles them. 5/5

Love the idea about a history channel! Mixing up two of my greatest loves: Medieval history (early modern if pretty cool as well) and mtg. PS: as an extra dig, we don't know enough of about berserkers because they probably didn't exist at all and it's all made up bs that. Berserker is often translated as "champion", which is what they probably were.
It looks like your getting what you want with giant tribal, equipment, Nidhogg with sarluf, dwarf tribal, valkyries with bw angel tribal, Norse gods with their equipment combo, berserker, vehicles,

I feel like Nidhogg could be a Wurm over a Serpent. Also pretty sure all but Raid, Snow, and Nidhogg have been shown by now lol. Like some are on one card so not guaranteed quite yet to be major, but easy to assume they are especially with Changelings surprisingly coming back

While discussing this set, I was told by someone that "there is no such thing as norse culture/mythology, there's scandinavian culture/mythology and there's finnish and sámi culture/mythology and those are seperate things."
