Yes.... that's what I wanted to avoid! I own an Integra 750 and I've gotten used to packing everything into the top box! Good, clear and concise video. Thanks
Really nice review. Thanks for taking the time and sharing so much pertinent information. My SuperTenere is going to look odd with the huge tail case, but I'll have the expandable storage. Very clever idea.
Great info! I didn't know the ends were different. I have used the 23's for many years. I love the top opening feature. I find they are only good for a few days on the road. But if you are going on short trips as I often do, they are the way to go.
Great review! Good to know about the SH23 and the passenger grab handle problem. My V-Storm also has grab handles so I need to make sure they can come off before purchasing the SH23. Thanks!
Yes they do work and I've found the SH23s more useful and the SH58, although being large and not really being a topbox fan, I have found it to be so practical I'm using it a lot more that I expected
Hello, I'm considering buying this central trunk and SH23 for the V-Strom DL800. I'm just wondering if this central trunk isn't too big visually and won't spoil the look of the motorcycle too much :) Best regards :)
The SH58X topbox is very good but also very large, I think for the DL800 I would get a small one, but on that can still fits a helmet. You could either go with a different Shad topbox or a Givi. The SH58X would be just too big and ruin the look.
Would it be possible to leave out the pannier end pieces entirely so then u can mount both panniers whenever u want without having to unscrew anything? Whats the purpose of them anyway?
No, as the end section on the SH23 is part of the pannier locking position mechanism. It's not on the SH36, more a position stop, but the SH23 end part is longer and so you can't fit the SH36 on if in place as the gap then to fit is too small..
Hello, I have a question about the shad rack. Could you please provide the dimension between the first and last screw? I would like to fit it to another motorcycle.
The total length of the frame, excluding the plastic mounting base for the topbox is 54cm approx. As you can post images here which would make this easier to explain.
Thank you for asking, the SH23 click into a section of the end stoppers so they have a risen receiver, while the SH36 sit on top of the end stoppers. If the SH36 stoppers are fitted there is no where for the SH23 to secure into, this also acts as the locking mechanism. With the SH23 stoppers fitted the SH36 can't locate to secure onto the mounts as they are raised at the end by the end stoppers. The fitting brackets come as standard with the fittings fiorcthe SH36 while the SH23 come with their matching end stopper. I hope that is of help to you.
@@pat2bornot2b Many thanks. A shame really, I honestly thought that the idea behind the 3C system was that ALL the range would fit! Oh well...back to the drawing board!!!
@@petermartingorgues980 well they do fit but you have to swap the end stoppers each time, I also found that a disappointment but to be honest once the SH23 went on they are the ones I use, the Sh36 just decorate the garage
Too bad they don't make the SH36 expandable like the top box, but I understand that they may not be as weatherproof. So just how difficult is it to change the rubber mounting end pieces?
It's not difficult to change the end fitting but why SHAD could not have made a dual porpoise fitting that would take both the SH23 and the SH36. Having to keep 2 small end fitting that may get mislaid (or lost) plus the time lost if for any reason you would like to swap them quickly is the issue. Thank you for your comment, alway welcome.
Not without making up your own fittings and would also be not comfortable as they are hard plastic. Non senza dover realizzare i propri accessori, e sarebbero anche scomodi perché realizzati in plastica dura.
My issue is with the planners 36 if they made it just a 3 inch longer it would be better for shoppers than width able to easily take a reusable shopping bag

Great, thank you! I am hesitating about SH 23 or SH 36 for my Honda Rebel 500 and your review has helped me a lot.
Really helpful, clear concise review, thank you for the practical width warning.
Glad it was helpful! And thank you for your comment

Yes I found the same, they live on the bike while the 36's are 'garage queens' :)

Thank you for the comment and best of luck with the grab rails on your V-Storm. There may be enough clearance but not on a Yamaha Niken

Every product page I've seen says the SH23's comes with a third lock fitting.
The SH36 did bit not the SH23 - unless things have changed since I bought mine..
Great vid thanks, looking at the sh23's myself for my NC750X
Hi, the SH23 I've found very useful and live on the bike, if you look around as there is a lot of variation in prices.
Well I think this answers my question which is will the SH23’s work with the SH58 top box.

Sorry put my reply above, and thank you. If you want any more information just ask.
Fantastic & very informative video could you please advise where you obtained the SH23 end rubbers from Mr Numo
Hi thank you for the comment. The rubbers (really more a plastic part) come with the SH23.
Great video! Thanks
You're welcome! And thank you

Hi mate, would you know if the locks of the SH36 would fit into the SH23? Greetings from Germany.
I would say that they wouldn't as the SH23 has not got enough depth as the SH36 lock and key are much longer.
My issue is with the planners 36 if they made it just a 3 inch longer it would be better for shoppers than width able to easily take a reusable shopping bag
I've ended up not using the SH36 because they make the bike so wide, they have become garage queen 😂
