- We're finally getting close to riding season. I am already planning a motorcycle trip for this summer. (I just hope that the current COVID-19 situation gets cleared up before then.) I am definitely looking forward to having the extra space and security that these Shad SH23 hard bags will provide.
Motorcycle shown is a 2018 Honda CB650F.
I will respond to any comment or question left below. Thank you.

I absolutely love that 3P mount but I wish they'd make an intermediate-sized 30L version that's larger yet still slim enough to make parking and negotiating city traffic in foreign places more manageable. Right now only 2 types of panniers will fit this brilliant 3P mount - these small 23L ones and those ginormous, bulbous SH26/SH25 ones that give your bike the girth of a Yamato-class battleship.
Thanks so much for your comment. I just returned from a 5 day trip. I was already thinking if I was going to be gone an longer I may have to get a top case as well.
Wonderful!
I just got the 3P system and shopping around for the best luggage to connect to it.
very helpful!
Thanks

Thanks so much for your comment. I really appreciate it.
Thanks for making this video! It's a great look at these bags.
Thanks so much. I appreciate the comment.
I have ordered them the 23tlr., they finally were available in Mexico where I ride atm. I am receiving them this week, I am very excited. I used to ride with Dryspec Bags, but their quality is not as good as I expected, and the bags "hang" kind of weird on the rack and bike. So I can't wait to get hard cases. Thanks for showing to me what to expect.
Thanks so much for your comment. I really appreciate it.
I still use my Kriega bags. But it’s hard to beat the hard luggage for convenience and security.
If you’re not already subscribed, I would truly appreciate it. Thanks. Ride safe.
Just ordered these for my Versys x300. Going to take your advice and use them to store my extra TP :D Fun videos. I subscribed.
Ha ha. Awesome. Thanks so much.
Thanks alot. I decided to buy them plus sh46
Thanks so much for your comment. I hope you enjoy even half as much as I do. I've been looking into the SH46. Let me know how you like it. Thanks again.
Shad 23 is the most underrated panniers on the market
I completely agree. Thanks so much for your comment
Great quality video! Nice and informative..
Thank you for your comment
I had no idea these top loading Shad side cases existed. I thought there was only the conventional loaders.
Thanks for your comment.
Orders these 8 days ago. Right from shad. How long did it take for you to actually get them?
I ordered them from my Honda dealership. They were in stock at their supplier. With these COVID days, I know shipping times have increased. Thanks for your comment.
Hi,. Nice system., Thanks for the vid.
I have a Hornet 600 (2012), .., any idea I good make it fit on that ?....
(They don't have a particular set for this bike ☹️)
Greets Alexander 🌞
Thanks so much for your comment. I have not personally seen a Hornet 600 and do not know if it could be made to fit. But as the fitting bars are relatively simple, with enough effort I am sure custom bars could be made. It’s up to you if the cost with be worth it.
Not hard lockable luggage, but have you checked out Kriega for their soft side luggage?
I like the top loading better...
Agreed. Thanks so much for your comment.
How do you think these would be when tackling heavy traffic? i like my cb650 but want to have some practical storage on my commute, currently i use a tail bag but prefer fixed and lockable luggage.
I use these to carry my lunch on the way to work, maybe my jacket on the way home, if I go shopping or run errands, they handle these tasks and the heavy traffic very well. As long as you keep to the weight limit and aren’t ping ponging off of the heavy traffic, they are awesome. Thanks so much for your comment.
We don’t have lane splitting where I am. And I understand that heavy traffic for me in North America may seem like very light traffic in other parts of the world. But these are smaller/narrower than most. I do not believe they stick out passed my handlebars. You still should not have any issues with them. Thanks.
Nice video I was looking at these but, been trying to find what the lid opening size is.
I’ll take some dimensions tomorrow and reply.
I get roughly 6.75-7.5” for width (as it tapers some). And then about 16.25” for the length. That’s hole opening.
@@UrAvgRider That helps allot and now I ordered some. I have Viking bags now with a quick release mount but not wide enough of a opening.
Glad I could help. Thanks.
Do you think that an xxl jacket would fit in? Thanks for your answer.
Thanks so much for your question. My first thought is no. But that’s assuming you mean a riding jacket with back armour installed. But depending on the jacket and the back armour and how willing you are to roll it, bend it and stuff it in... I bet it could technically fit. Just not easily and definitely not nicely. If the jacket could fit in a 20 litre backpack, it could fit in the SH23.
@@UrAvgRider Thanks, I think it could, but I will have to check myself.
Hi UrAvgRider,
I am confused with SH23.
On Shad site is notice bellow 3P that is "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH SH23." and you have mounted 3P+SH23. Is something changed for 2022 model. ?
Thanks for your comment. When I look at the SH23 product page it states “Requires 3P fitting system” which is true. The SH23 can only mount to the 3P. But not all bikes that have a 3P mounting system allow the SH23 (as the lid opens on top). But feel free to add the link of the page you found and I’ll have a look. Thanks again.
Hi, can you tell me the part number of that Shad 20 litres soft bag (orange colour) Cannot find it ? Thanks
It’s not a Shad bag. It’s Osprey. I picked it up at my local sporting goods store.

Thanks for your comment.
Why need to remove the passenger grab bar?
There is still rear grab handles on each side under the seat (the bulky plastic). But I removed the center strap on the seat so the Kriega loop straps would fit. Thanks for your comment.
I’m going to try these on my RE Himalayan. Have you heard of any one using them on a Himalayan?
Thanks so much for your comment. I haven’t seen them on the Himalayan yet but I bet that’ll be awesome. I love the Himalayan. I’ve seriously been thinking about getting one. How do you like it?
@@UrAvgRider I really like. So far it's been great! I'm going on 600 miles.
Does anyone know if the SHAD 3P System for CB650R (19-20) is combatible with SHAD SH23 side bags?
Sorry, I don’t know. Obviously the Shad website doesn’t show that it works. As the SH23 opens up, it’s likely that it touches when it opens. The question would be, how far can it open? Thanks for your comment.
is the 3P system original? what's the reference? thank you
I apologize? I’m not quite certain what your question is. But the Shad 3P is the rails that mount to the motorcycle in a rotated L shape leaving behind a minimal mounting bracket for the hard bags which have 3 points of contact to the bracket (hence the 3P name).
UrAvgRider I know the system, but in the store where I plan to buy they say the 3P system is only compatible with the sh 35 and 36 bags. So the question is whether your 3P system is original or modified and if it is original, what is the reference.
The SH23 come with new end caps for the 3P system to make them work. But... the SH23 open to the top and therefore only work with certain motorcycles. You have to confirm they will work with your bike. Otherwise the SH23 definitely work with the 3P system.
UrAvgRider my bike is the same as yours. HONDA CB 650F 2018
God trip
Then it definitely fits. As I said, the SH23 came with the clips needed for it to work. Nothing else is needed. Not custom. Nice bike 👍 Ride safe
