Jeremy you never disappoint. I've been in networking for the last 20+ years but I always learn something new watching your videos.

Hahaha a CBT Nugget style video. I love it, Jeremy. Please keep it up.
You're the reason I'm a senior network engineer now.

After watching much of your videos just wanted to drop in and say: thanks. I absolutely love that you make nerding out about cables something to look forward to ;).

I've found TP-Link Omada to be quite good. Seems to be fairly comparable to Unifi with one huge advantage: no controller needed. They offer both a hardware and a software controller with could access which is great for remote monitoring and for configuring many devices on a large network, but for a simple home or small office network, I like the ability to access the device directly using the web interface, which Unifi does not have.

Great stuff! I learned a lot since I haven’t (and have never before) done mine.

The unifi controller has an AI/ML channel switcher. It works really well in my experience.

I have ATT Fixed Wireless Internet for my service provider. I’ve read that I can’t replace my modem supplied by ATT. I would like to send a signal to a building 160’ away to support security cameras that has a clear line of sight. Would you be able to suggest a setup using Ubiquiti or other products? I have looked on their sight and they have so many different products that seem to do nearly the same thing.

800MHz - mostly used in P2P or P2MP wireless links, deprecated in favor of 802.11 standards with TDMA. Ubiquiti has 800MHz Rocket APs before. I'm not sure if it is now discontinued. As shown in a video by Crosstalk Networks, 800MHz has better performance in a high-foliage setting than 2.4 or 5 GHz.

HI, great video. Looking for some input. I'm wondering if my UDM (acting as an AP), NanoHD, and AP AC Lite is overkill for my 1900 sq foot ranch home (still being built). The only possible interference is from the living room (nanoHD) to the master bedroom (ac lite) - there's a gas fireplace with stone from wall to ceiling. I plan on 5ghz as the primary for my laptops and cell phones, and 2.4 for my IoT devices (on a separate VLAN). Is this overkill? I'm feeling I need to lower the power on the master bedroom AC lite. The living room and master bedroom are ceiling mounted, while the UDM will just sit on my desk to cover the office(spare bedroom 2) and 3rd bedroom. Thoughts?

Ubiquity needs to work on the mounting kit. Cisco is way better and it dangles on the ceiling metal rail. Your videos are super duper !!!

Your ceiling tiles don't have foil on the back. That can be an interesting wifi modifier.

One good idea: disable DFS and separate WLAN devices by channel (For example: guest SSID: Ch 1, corporate SSID: Ch 6, P2MP SSID: Ch 11).

900MHz itself is not slow as such. It is just the technology that used that frequency that is slow. The licensed band (950MHz in Australia) can achieve speeds higher than 1Gbps, with the more modern technology :).
Just had to throw that in. Great recap of technology here and real world use case

Now attempt to explain all of this in 5 minutes when Directors/Managers of the company ask you why the WiFi drops out, or doesn't work or why I need to spend more money, or why what they're suggesting won't work how they think it will :D I might now just give them this video to save me the headache haha
