  • I built this engine between 1997 and 2003 for my model steamtug Maarten.
    Deze modelmachine naar eigen ontwerp heb ik gebouwd tussen 1997 en 2003. De machine is bestemd voor mijn model van sleepboot Maarten. De hoogte van de machine is 130 mm. Op deze video draait de machine op 1 bar perslucht.

    This is a really fine engine, I also like how the thing is run slow as per a real engine, these little miniatures whizzing at so many thousand revs seem ludicrous, proves nothing.
    Wonderful workmanship and a real sense of 'atmosphere'.
    Well done !!

    @SteffanLlwyd
    Thanks Steffan. The valve gear is Hackworth. There are 3 pomps on the back. The first is a coolingwater pomp. The second is the air pomp. The third is the boiler feed.

    Triple stage steam and he managed to put a little condenser cylinder off to the side top of the engine. I see most model steam engines as open loop and exhaust water in 15 min. This is closed loop is really amazing.

    @landus94 It only looks like a triple-expansion engine. It has 3 pistons of the same size. The boiler pressure is 3 bar and a real triple wouldn't work because of condensation.

    @ rhavrana. Thank you very much. Because of the 3 bar boiler pressure the engine isn't a real triple. Bore x stroke = 13 x 18 mm.

    wow man, very impressive engine, absoultely love the hackworth and the 3 pumps off the back, was the engine running off steam or compressed air?

    That is a fantastic engine you have built there. I have never seen that kind of reversing link before, does it have a name or is it somthing you have invented your self? Do you have drawings for it, showing the reverse link and altso the linking of the vacum pump?
    Very nice work

    Thank you very much. When the boiler is ready I hope to do so. It may take a while.
    I'm sorry but there is no plan for this engine. I designed it myself and never made a complete plan.

      It only looks like a triple. A real triple would not run like this. The pistons are equal.
