    The price of those guitars, that thing should clean and restring itself! Haha.
    I have a video request JB, it would be awesome if you did a video going in depth about chords and chord types you play in various tunings you use on 7 & 8 strings. I've noticed you playing crazy chord shapes in your music and I'm very intrigued on how you find them and incorporate them.

    Can you make video about guitar setup?
    And also what tuning are using with this string gauge?
    Awesome video John!

      Most like his 7 string Drop A# variant.
      Low to high
      7: A#
      6: F
      5: A#
      4: D#
      3: F
      2: A#
      1: D#

    It really saddens me that that bridge isn't available on more production guitars or at least as budget version. It's so nice. Still haven't played on one, but given my strong liking for flat and smooth bridges, it's right up my ally. Also, locking tuners are an investment that I seriously need to make.

    Locking tuners are my favorite thing I didn't know I needed till I got them. Question John...Can you do something where you talk about the tunings you use? I bought a whole new guitar to learn some of your material without having to screw with tunings all the time...Working on Denial, and man. It's the oddest thing to deal with haha. Keep up the great work. Yetzer Hara is currently my favorite album. You're the man.

    I think this video shows a great technique for application of cream of carnuba (carnuba wax), but the explanation is a bit misleading. Carnuba wax creates a thin layer over the finish that fills in cracks, effectively leveling the surface and making scratches less noticeable.

    I thought most people are obsessed with Ernie ball strings but you turned out to be a Daddario xl fan. They actually sound pretty good. How often do you change your strings when not playing live?

  • @chrisrobertson1443
    @chrisrobertson1443 6 лет назад +1

    I try to clean my strings after each time I play so I actually keep a small cloth from an old TV wrapped around my guitar strings before I put it back in its case; I find these cloths really effective for cleaning the body and neck because they're intended to clean screens or glasses etc. without scratching.the reason I started doing this was that I used to use a sponge to clean my fretboards until I was a little too vigorous one time trying to get some built up dirt off and I actually scratched my fretboard; not so badly that it looks damaged but sometimes when I apply vibrato or bend i'll notice the strings catching on one of the scratches which is horrible.what do you think of the Hannes bridge? how does it compare to more standard bridges like a Hipshot?

  • @danielkeehl7450
    @danielkeehl7450 4 года назад +1

    I was surprised to learn you used the same strings as I sometimes did! What do (or did) you like them for? I found them to be quite soft and pleasurable for fingers after using cobalt strings, but it seemed to me they sounded dim compared to some other strings

    Hey John, don't wanna fuck up, but Carnauba wax is a controversial product in my opinion. It's obtained from a plant that only grows in one of the poorest districts of Brazil and most of the farm workers are kept like slaves during the harvest. This came out during a research on Haribo since they also use the wax for their products. I don't know from where Dunlop gets their Carnauba but in doubt I'd personally go for another product. If you or anybody here is interested in the research, feel free to ask, I'll quote the source then. Apart from that, I love your channel!

    John, been a big fan of yours since the fellsilent days. Since you transitioned from Ibanez to Mayones, could you tell us the difference you felt in the guitars? Do mayones guitars have thin necks like an ibanez (super wizard) or are they Les Paul like with a bedpost thickness? I've been playing ibanez for 23 years but still too scared to take the plunge on a Mayones Duvell without actually playing one before hand. Could you give us your thoughts?

      @07dhiraj 7 лет назад

      TakavaNirhii (near-eye) thx man ! I guess for 7 string i have to leave the high string , rest emulate same as 8 string tuning mentioned by you. Isnt it ?

    • @JohnBrownemonuments
      @JohnBrownemonuments  7 лет назад

      07dhiraj leave the low string, you can't play it without the high but could play a variation of the 8 string riffs on the 7.

    Hi John, I hope you see this,
    I am just cleaning my 7 string guitar using all the advice you provide in this video, after I’ve purchased the lemon oil, cleaner & prep, and the cream of carnauba. But I’ve hit a slight problem. I got to cleaning the body of my guitar and as I cleaned around the pickups, the sticky wrap around one of my sets of Pickups, I accidentally caught part of the sticky wrap and it started coming off - eventually the whole thing came off and I have no idea what to do about it. Can you help me out? (Sorry for the long message)

    • @FastRedPonyCar
      @FastRedPonyCar 6 лет назад +3

      Just a myth. What do you think companies who build guitars do with all the necks before they put them on guitars? All guitars these days have truss rods in them to adjust the neck tension in the event that the wood in the neck moves a little (which is normal depending on even temp or humidity)
