    despite my lacking knowledge of Thrower only having heard Those Once Loyal, after seeing the channel name I knew this was something to trust

    I got all the albums over a period of weeks after deliberately avoiding them in the 80s. They were too similar for me to really appreciate but I ended up keeping one only which was Those Once Loyal. In the last 6 months I've mostly listened to Realm of Chaos and I'd say that is now my favourite too. They definitely aren't a band I need to own much from though. Aside from the debut if you've heard one you've heard them all really. Nice OG on Realm. It's mega money these days

      Apart from the debut I like them all. I won´t be able to listen to them all one after another tough.... tbh, not even two in a row, hahaha... "Realm" is so unique just because of the sound but there´s fantastic songs buried in all the mud! I traded in quite a stack of records for the OG...

    Great ranking this Jürgen… & like you say… not a bad album in their discography. I’d probably swap around your No3 with your No2… but other than that I’m with you all the way mate. I completely agree with you when you said ‘The IVth Crusade’ is a good album… but a bit samey… I’ve always thought that myself. Made up you managed to get a copy of the ‘Monolith’ album. Always good to see you my friend🤘🏻

    Warmaster is the only Bolt Thrower album I own so far but on hearing lots of people say that most of their albums are samey except for the debut I think maybe that’s all I need 🤘great in-depth video

      Warmaster and everything that followed is quite samey, yes. The first two are different. On my fave "Realm of Chaos" the sound is so muddy, not everbody can handle that but it contains their best songs imo. Thank you for watching!

    Hey Jürgen 🤘
    I only have 4th Crusade and For Victory, I have been meaning to pick up Warmaster. I think I might have had Realm Of Chaos on CD back in the day, the original artwork looks familiar to me.
    Cheers 🍺

    Excellent ranking,Jurgen. Realm of Chaos is my no.1 as well. I too have an original copy, the cover is far superior. I think Mercenary is my least favourite, but all are killer. Unfortunately the copy of the grindcrusher album I've got, does not have the single with it, but does have the hype sticker on it. Saw Bolt Thrower many times, back in the day. 🍻🤘

    Realm of Chaos stands alone as my favourite and i still have my original print from 89.The band i heard had to drop the low tuning used on Chaos due to it being to muddy played live,so freaking heavy for 89.You are right about the premium old Bolt Thrower tee's commanding a premium,seen the early Earache released merch go for over a thousand US for a long sleeve which is insane.

    Hi Jurgen!!! Well done and cool ranking and hearing your thoughts so early in the morning...... I'm not big into Death Metal, just tried a few records from some well known bands like Death, Vader, but i have not heard Bolt Thrower yet and eight studio albums is not that much to listen and learn about them and their sound. cheers and be well

    Great Bolt Thrower ranking Jurgen! I can't disagree with your ranking, I haven't listened to all of their albums, but the ones I have listened to I would put them in your order too! Got Mercenary, Honour valour pride and the debut to listen to. Was a great video Marc did on Monolith, sounds very much like Bolt Thrower! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

    Love Bolt Thrower, though was a very latecomer to the band. Really didn't get into them until maybe 2005 onwards. In the 90s I thought their sound was too simplistic! My top ones are IVth Crusade and For Victory, pretty much flip a coin there. Like Geoff I was meant to see them in 2015 but a week out the drummer passed away. However they still printed the tour shirts so I wear that happily to remember what could have been.

    • @albertampel4175

      I bought every release when it came out from "Realm..." on. Does that say something about my "simple mindedness", hahaha...??? Last time I saw them was in 2012 and they blew up the roof on that open air festival! Wait, what??? Hehe...

  • @mendicantmedia

    Ha my ranking is pretty much the same although I find it very hard to choose between For Victory and Realm of Chaos and change my mind all the time. Very jealous you saw them so many times and with Martin van Drunen. I saw them on the IVth tour in Australia which was a bit average to be truthful and then in the US in 2013 at MDF and 2 side gigs and they were amazing! I was due to see them twice on their 2015 Australian tour but then the poor drummer died and that was that. Great video mate

    • @albertampel4175
      @albertampel4175  2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, "Victory" and "Realm"... "Victory" perfected their sound and "Realm" is such a unique record. Van Drunen was the perfect fit, I would have loved to hear him on a Bolt thrower record!

    Oooooh, Bolt thrower! My first encounter with them was also through the Grindcrusher comp, but for me it was the double LP version that has "World Eater" on it.
    For me it's:
    1. Those Once Loyal
    2. ...For Victory (these two could easily change between them)
    3. Realm of Chaos
    4. War Master
    5. The IVth Crusade
    6. In Battle There Is No Law
    7. Mercenary
    8. Honour, Valour, Pride
    The real question is where do you rank Sacrilege's Within the Prophecy in the Bolt Thrower discography? ;-)

    • @albertampel4175
      @albertampel4175  2 месяца назад

      That 2 LP Grindcrusher came out only a few month, maybe a year after the initial release if I remember right. I totally forgot "Within the Prophecy" in my ranking, my bad, sorry, hahahaha....

      I prefer the "Peel Sessions" versions of the songs, they have a much clearer sound. I can totally see you loving the album, maybe just because of the dirt and roughness!

    • @amerigoormea
      @amerigoormea 2 месяца назад

      @@albertampel4175 Peel sessions are great. I am more into the punkier, crustier side of metal. Grew up listening to punk metal and dark wave in the 80's (I am passed my fifties).
      If you like Bolt Thrower, I highly recommend a band from my town, Portland, OR: Hellshock, they are Bolt Thrower influenced but heavier and crustier. Check out Only The Dead Know The End of War (2003), it's a crushing record.
