We go undercover to expose the dangerous counterfeit medicines flooding into Asia and sold on the streets, in stores and online to people around the world.

I think it is more informative if they test the actual component of the fake ones rather than basing only in the packages.
i boss they won’t because most of them are semi-real in a sense.
Some are actually real, smuggled out of real factories in corrupt countries like India and Pakistan.
Others aren’t usually made by the actual company, but they do contain the same ingredients as the real ones.
The active ingredients in Valium and Xanax are especially easy to obtain online. They want you to think these are so dangerous because they are taking millions of dollars in profits away from the pharma industry.
Now I’m not saying go and take any pills off the street, because there is definitely a chance that it could be dangerous, but they are playing the risk up exponentially to scare people into paying for their expensive name brand drugs.
All you have to do is take some drug test kits with you when you go there.

This is a 25-minute investigative piece to inform unassuming consumers there are counterfeit pharmaceutical drugs on the street that look genuine. I think it's safe to assume if the packaging is incorrect, there is something illegal going on that could be potentially harmful, and maybe you shouldn't take that medication. Also, is a journalistic, not a scientific piece. C'mon, use your brain. It was very informative.
@@BricksOnDaBeat They're not trying to scare people into buying brand-name drugs. They're telling you it's probably not the best idea to buy drugs from unknown sources. Xanax and valium is one thing, but drugs that regulate blood pressure or insulin (drugs that keep you alive not high) is another. The prices pharmaceutical companies are criminal, but to say the drugs on the street are practically real is a bit of a reach.
I died a little inside when the pfizer dude said "we're protecting the health and safety of people, so whatever it takes."

Smallest dose of morphine they could give and they will give it even though it wouldn't help the person and they might send them home with some Tylenol 3 or prescription strength ibuprofen they need to come up with a happy medium a lot of those people who died of oxycontin most of them died because they were abusing them like taking the coating off crushing a little ball of pure oxycodone that they're getting the 80 mg oxycontin which is the same as taking eight Percocet 10 mg. When I when I was prescribed oxycontin pamphlet comes with the prescription that you are supposed to read says not to crush or chew or inject the people dead their family was able to sue
It's kind of like somebody suing the makers of stop signs because they didn't obey the stop sign and got dead and now people can't get proper paincare because doctors are afraid of losing their license because some junkies didn't pay attentions to the doctor or the prescription.. myself I have a piece of paper notarized saying if I died because of painkillers because I've been on the abusing end of the thing but I went and got myself because I had a problem and eventually somebody's going to go after the medicine I'm on and get it taken away from everybody that's what my family's doing that Sue because I'll probably fall back into using I don't want to but unfortunately you can't change the brain's chemistry

There was mass ovenprescription that the drug companies ignored for profit. along with marketing the pain meds and not disclosing the warning you see now, 10-15 years ago, denying how addictive they are. You see those warnings now because of what big pharma failed to do in the past.

TBH not all countries require prescriptions for antibiotics. I'm in Hong Kong and all pharmacies sell them, doctors say it's ok to buy them there. Their boxes and brands can be found as licensed medication online as well. I've bought Amoxicillin over the counter many times. My doc also tells me which blood pressure medication I can buy over the counter here so I can skip the hassle of waiting at the doctors.

Making many medications OTC would go a long way to reduce the so-called "health crisis" in the US. More than 80% of physician visits are to get a prescription for a drug that the patient already knows what they need. This would free up the physicians to spend more than 6 cost-effective minutes with people who need investigation and a diagnosis for their problem. Many times, when one goes to the doctor to get a refill for a known prescription for a known problems, the person has to duck being sold on all sorts of other prescriptions - I'd rather go to a used car dealer than a doctor.
Its generic not fake. India produces genericc of the brand name at affordable prices. Big farmas are just protecting their investment.

As much as I don't like that these companies are making things too expensive, it still is a real problem for people living there. If you don't take the medicine you need or take something that you don't know what's in it, it could kill you. I get the frustration that this is coming from a multi million dollar company, but you shouldn't shrug them off over this when it's the same thing as people who are physically harming people in the street.

people forget that although they care more about there profits the good thing about buying the real one and not fake is when something goes wrong, you can sue someone and provide you a proper explanation of how, why and what went wrong. it's easy to joke about something until you become a victim of fake medicine and realized that it's better to buy from money hungry company than from a fake that came out from somewhere. and it's too late.

In Somalia patients usually buy from the cheapest pharmacies. One can get a bag full of medicine for less than a dollar. Mostly pharmacies are full of sick customers with often don’t get cured by the drug rather the fake drugs may cause other complications such as Cancer.
In Mexico they're same quality and cheaper
To be honest it happened to me in Canada the generic was giving me headaches. I believe pharmacies are sometimes payed to give the generics because instead of giving me the original the pharmacist gave me the generic first without telling me and seemed so surprised when I asked for the original which was a few cents more.

A drug company has 13 years to make as much profit as they can before by law they must allow generic meds to be made. Generic is not counterfeit. Counterfeit is completely unlicensed and unsupervised. Usually comes out of China. Generic is very legit. Though you may be experiencing allergic reactions to some of the pill fillers. Which can happen. I notice generic doesn't break down as well in my system so it leaves a lot I don't absorb before it's pushed out of my system. But this is not always the case.
They're not wrong in saying fake pills are dangerous. Hands down they are I won't dispute that, however the Thailand consumer advocate is right drugs are way too expensive and companies force a ridiculous market upon everyone. Not only in Asia but in the States too. Case in point, I'm Canadian and the US government is looking to tap our medical supply because it's cheaper than regulate the industry. Does that go to show you who's really in power?
