Thanks Tim, I fixed mine about a hour ago, after watching your video. Fortunately there was no broken parts, so I didn't have to order anything, just a bit of tape and a cut off a sticky pad to hold it in place.
Dude! Thank you. My friend's HP Chromebook was dead. No lights, no response to reset buttons. I simply followed your suggestion to unplug the battery for a few seconds. Plugged it back in and it fired up. Thank you
Thank you very much for your advice. My Chromebook is back to life. Similarly to other users it didn't even have light indicators on. I guess some faulty currents were circuiting in the battery and they had to be discharged... Still, thank you again and keep up you good work in helping people. Best regards!

THERE’S a fix that’s much easier...try this first. Press the Right Arrow Key and the Power button SIMULTANEOUSLY for a full 10 seconds. Then press the Power key. My Chromebook responded to this Fix, and saved me a bunch of time. Good luck.

9/11/2020 - Totally worked!!!!! I searched and searched for a solution for my Acer Chromebook spin 11 (n17q8) which was not charging or turning on. I was nervous open up the back, but you made it look easy. A few screw were stubborn, but I got them eventually. And was nervous peeling off the back, but got it gingerly. Found the connection you showed. Unplugged it for about 10 seconds and then plugged it back in. snapped the back on (still have to screw it together) and plugged in the cord. The thing sprang to life!!! Thanks!!!!
Aces Josh. Only thing I can add is make sure not to strip any of these screws. Better to lose a few screws than try to remove a stripped or screw that wont remove. Acer should have included a hardware reset switch.
Worked like a charm. Acer CP311, opened it up (asked my server room admin for the tools) and unplugged batter cable.. waited a minute. Reattached battery cable, closed it all up, put the power cord back on.... and it started to boot up. Nice... Shame, but nice. Will not get a ACER again due to this, sad.
thanks this might help me. my screen does this. had to send it in for repair because screen was flickering and then just wouldnt turn on. Absolutely will never buy an acer again
we may be able to modify this by putting a small switch on the side that will disconnect all the battery together or maybe just Plus it should be able to work the main power cord that way you don't have to open the whole entire laptop

This problem has been happening on my Acer Chromebook 11 randomly for over a year, but normally folding it closed gets it going again. Last night it just wouldn't restart even holding On/Off button and refresh button at the same time. This worked! Sounds like you've got a different fault on yours. The battery trick I show is good for a lot of things but unfortunately there's more than one way for a chromebook to break.
I have the same laptop as you but my battery charges but the screen just doesn’t turn on, I have tried everything and it just seems like there is no life other than the orange light being on when being charged?
