I really like the nemesis thing, this way even if they escape I will find them later :) I want this game.
Man i love watching adams video's I was sad as shit when he stopped doing x-play, this seems alot more better than x-play imo, BUT with that being said X-play still cannot be bettered, its a childhood with no friends except adam and morgan, the gaming king and queen in my book

Loved how he couldn't answer when questioned about the similarities between the traversal systems that Assassins Creed and this game has.

XboxAnnihilator Very true, but in all fairness, if you're going to rip off a 3rd person traversal mechanic, you could do worse than ripping off Assassins Creed. The procedural Nemesis system and brutal combat have me very interested in this one.
If ur gonna make a game and u want gamers to be able to climb buildings then theres not a whole lotta different natural ways to do it, of coarse the devs would be aware of its similarities to AC but from what i can see so far it has plenty of other unique qualities, Shadow of Mordor is definitely its own game. As far as im concerned S of M looks awesome and i hav to admit im more exited about this than the next installment of AC, and i am an AC fan believe it or not.
Hope they make it like assassins creed 1 mechanics, where you could manually control what you grabbed, I've grown apart from AC because of the automation.
Who could have imagined that a sports game, of all things, played into the creation of this game?

I feel like saying it's like Assassin's Creed because you can climb things isn't entirely fair. That's like saying Arma and Call of Duty are the same because you shoot guns.. There is really only one right way to shoot guns as there is only one really effective way to climb. While AC sort of popularized the ability to climb everything and anything, other games that do this shouldn't be called rip offs. Sort of similar to the things games like Saint's Row or True Crime or any open world crime-like game had to deal with being called rip offs of GTA. They weren't rip offs exactly, just inspired by GTAs success.
That being all said and done, those rope things between buildings are entirely the same as from AC and the developer probably could have tried to think of a better thing then those rope things. Lmao
You're right, they could've just place some hanging corpses on them because in an architectural point of view, it doesn't have sense to put some ropes between buildings for no reason. And where do you leave the wraith/eagle eye hability? I really don't care about all that though. For me it feels like an AC/Soul Reaver game including Tolkien's lore, which in my book it's bloody awesome. Can't wait 4 it!!! Say YES if you agreed!!!
My thoughts exactly. I'm not one to get angry at games having similarities as long as they aren't too ridiculous like literal reused things from a previous game or something. This game when I first heard about it I was like Oh cool! and open world RPG! Which made me think of an Elder Scrolls game. Then I heard it was character restricted and I was like pft lame. But now I see it's quite different from that and I am very much looking forward to it.
I forgot about the similariteis with Eagle Vision and the Wraith Vision though in the gameplay thing I saw he claimed it was like when Frodo put on the Ring to see the world so I was like Okay I buy that. It's not like they put a brand new thing into the lore, but actually used the already existing wraith-plane of existence to push in a nice way to identify things. Which I like.
Yeah the ropes were kind of a giveaway. Also, they never said it was an AC ripoff, just that it had similarities which it does. In the gaming world comparing games isn't necessarily a bad thing. For instance, if you ask somebody how good their video card is, they'll tell you something like "Oh it can run X game on Y settings" It's not that we dislike games having these similarities, it's just that comparision is a really good way to give somebody who hasn't played the game a very vivid indication as of what to expect. With the storyline to AC4 being so terrible I couldn't really think of a better time for an AC4-like game to come out and this could really pull dedicated AC fans away from Ubisoft's mess and towards a new stealthy genre, seems exciting. So anyways, I guess I'll get off my soap box now.
Exactly mate. I thought about the same thing. The wraith vision when you enter that plane, it reminded me a lot of Soul Reaver when Raziel traveled to the Phantom plane or whatever the name was. This game seems it will be loads of entertainment and the story looks like interesting
X902 HD No man I totally get it. And I agree with what you're saying about AC's storyline. I've played every AC game and really enjoyed them.. Up until AC3. I actually traded the game in and months later picked it up at a redbox to finish it. The gameplay just frustrated me with it's bugs and the story was like ... really? AC4 I've also picked up from a redbox and I like it a lot more than 3... But simply because I happen to like pirates.
I love the gameplay of AC. I love Tolkien. I also love incredibly visceral combat... I feel I will love this game quite a lot. /crosses fingers.
To me this looks completely amazing. Sure, it has AC elements in it, there's kinda no denying that no matter how much the dev wanted to dodge the bullet, but honestly as far as I have seen they fit in very well, there is also an Arkham feeling to the combat mixed it which I find great, the other features are simply incredible, and I am seriously hyped!
It's quite obvious they used AC coding in this game, but like you said, they added their own elements and made it completely bad ass!!

One benefit I see this having over Assassins Creed is the fact that it has ACTUAL stealth.
Knowing the games industry it'll be either too easy or on rails, though

Renegade322 SpookyKid94 It does have actual stealth, but not deep stealth. And that's a big difference. Actual good stealth in small doses in a "brawler" like this is fun and a great break from the fighting. Weak and boring stealth constantly, like in AC, is really grating.
None of you see that? He does pretty much say they ripped from AC, but he also says that the more people play, the more they'll see that it's their own style. I agree. Saying they ripped from AC, is like saying every other game has ripped off another one. You have to start somewhere, am I right? They just improved on it.
He didn't really say that. He basically said just because it's a stealth based, third person action adventure game doesn't make something AC. So of course it's going to look similar, but ripping it off is not something they were actively doing. It just kind of happened.

Ripping off is just a phrase shallow minded people use when they see that someone improved or used anothers concept. Not everyone can create a new way to play, i'm sure it's getting pretty difficult out of the countless number of fighting games that have been created.

The Arkham games were way better then all of the movies combined.
That is unfair to compare a game to a movie. They are both great in their own medium. Obviously the amount of content in a video game is going to be more than a 2 and a half hour movie.
It's not unfair...it's an opinion. The movies were good yes, but I enjoyed myself more in in a 2 and a half hour play session then watching one of the movies period.
Delta Reaper I enjoyed myself more playing the Arkham games more than watching the movies as well. But it is not fair to say one is objectively better than the other. Whether or not you believe either the movies or games were better Batman adaptations is a different thing.

Best Lord of The Rings games are still surprisingly the two that is adapted from the movie: Two Towers and Return of the King. Also ironic in itself because movie-video game generally always sucks.
This game looks amazing! I really don't like Lord Of The Rings, the movies, its not really my sort of thing, but this game looks fun as hell. I also prefer fighting monsters though, I just find it to be way more interesting than fighting humans.
People please stop talking about the similarities with Assassin's Creed, this type of movement was NOT created by Ubisoft and is completely vital in a game like this, parkour is here to stay, lots of games will have it.

the graphics are ok, plus it being on last gen will cause the devs to put less time in the main project plus they wont be able to make the a.i they are using be advanced as it could be

So, they are talking about how going to next gen is so interesting because it allows for these grand new ideas... and it's also coming to X360 and PS3... WHAT THE FUCK? That just goes to show that next gen is nothing but a graphical update.
They have to sale units, so doing a current gen game makes sense.Lots of people,including me, haven't made the jump over yet and would still like to play the game in some form, so why not make it cross generation.

This game has been in development for a long time, it makes more sense to develop for all the consoles. It's not a next-gen game. It's a previous-gen game with updated graphics.. There's a difference you bobo. Next-Gen is the same as a high-end pc.. huge different from the 360 and ps3.

How can it really be "Next Gen" if it's on Current or Old Gen hardware too? There can't be anything special or next generation about it if the 360 and PS3 can handle that simulation aspect.
Same thought. So far the only true next gen title I've seen is Witcher 3, since CD Projekt decided to not even make it for the current gen systems because...according to them it would be impossible, because of the scale of the game, and work they did to it. It would've really had to be dumbed down for current gen.
UTxTheArchangel I've played a few next gen games, and I have current gen pc, and i tell you the hardware REALLY is new upgraded shit, I used to gt like 80fps in every game, in these new games that are titled next gen, there kill my pc
I agree, those of us who have ps4s,xbones, and pc want to see a game built solely on that hardware otherwise you get the feeling developers have to broaden the bases so to speak to support all of them thus sacrificing it's full potential. Developers keep saying the game experience will be the same on all platforms which leads me to ask is all we're paying for nicer eye candy for next gen versions? I do understand the large majority still have last gen consoles and sales wise that can't be ignored by publishers with such an install base but there does seem to be a lack of next gen only game thus far. As you say if this nemesis system is as intricate,ambitious and complex as they say then how can it run on last gen hardware? At least CD Projeckt Red came out and flat out said their game would not be possible on last gen. [God I love those guys] I think this is part of the reason most of us are still looking for that eureka moment in next gen, where game design can try new things without the need to adhere to making sure it functions on the last gen also, it's like trying to sail a new ocean while still anchored. I'd love to hear Adam's thoughts on this topic.
Thats why there is no real point in buying next gen systems. Just doesn't make sense. No games, its expensive, buggy, just going to collect dust and lacks lot of features. Early adaptation, more like early access, buy the alpha console at premium price.
SirMontyBagger It's a poor decision from a business point of view while the majority of their audience are on last gen consoles. I doubt we'll see many games like that, aside from the odd exclusive, for a while.

Lol then I hate to break it to you, but the whole enemy hierarchy thing with the spying and what not is very similar to Prototype. I like how in this game you have more controll over who your nemesis is though!
No there was something where there was a branch of officers and you'd have to eat one to get intel on the location of another one as well as a small video clip.

When I play this game I want it to play out much like Inglorious Bastards. Just go guns blazing and tell survivors to spread word to high command so everyone will know I'm coming for them and they should be afraid.

I'm very intrigued by this game's gameplay and mechanics... but not at all happy with the way it seems to be horrendously mistreating the lore of the world in question.
The reason i want to buy this is BECAUSE there's an Assassins Creed appeal to it. This game looks awesome and I'm really surprised they want to try to pull this off. It's a very ambitious venture, and only if they make a good game will it score well with critics and consumers. However, if the story is lacking and the game is repetitive then they're looking at a hard loss on their hands.
Hopefully this will be the video game to the Lord of the Rings universe as the Batman Arkham games are to the Batman universe. The persistent character system looks super cool. I will try to keep the hype to a minimum so I don't ruin it for myself when it finally comes out.

It looks fun enough that I'll keep on eye on it. I happen to like all of the AC games, so the fact that it "borrows" from that franchise isn't a concern to me. It just means that parts of it will be easier to pick up. "if it aint broke" as they say
The Nemesis system is really intriguing, if it can be pulled off. I probably wouldn't send RatBag off to kill the highest level guy, I'd probably send him to terrorize or spy, at least for the first few encounters.

Anyone here see the similarities between Talion here and Raziel from the Legacy of Kain series? They are both brought back from death by a spiritual entity to serve a purpose. They can both shift between the living and dead realms. Heck, the realms even look like of similar and Talion's face takes on a skeletal look in his wraith form.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing and there are much more obvious comparisons between this game and others, but it's something I couldn't help but notice.
I am excited for this, as many games as there, I am struggling to find a decent Single Player game on pc, Assassins creed was amazing but became very repetitive and the story line completely lost me. This is a exciting approach to gaming.
I'm not too sure with games like these in 360/PS3, I feel they won't truly show the developer's vision and also lower the quality of the next gen/PC versions of the game. Just yesterday in a interview it was said that if the Witcher 3 was to be released in las gen half the content would have been cut. Just look at how much Crisis changed when it was released on consoles.
I'm really interested to see what elements will be sacrificed to see the nemesis system fully implemented on the ps3 and 360. Mainly because I'll be getting this on ps3.
I love how Talion can automatically change into the Wraith while in combat and also while terrorizing the Orcs. This game is shaping up to be one of the best RPG games of this next-generation.
Neat idea but it just looks like your killing orcs in the same environment and that could get pretty boring, pretty quick.

Im really looking forward to play the game but there is one thing I don't understand. Sometimes there is nice and clear weather but orcs doesn't like the sun. In the beginning there was some orcs torturing prisoners, but it was sun glowing at them. I don't get it. Anyone else who think this is wierd?
I think this game looks pretty cool regardless of the comparisons to AC.
It feels like beautifully packaged ideas that I really hope become actualized but right now almost feel too good to be true. Very, very interested to see how it plays out.
