I've never been very interested in the Lord of the Rings or Hobbit Movies, but this looks promising and I'm not easy to convince these daYs
You should give the LOTR movies a try, they are simpely amazing.

I'm not saying I don't like them, I'm just not very interested in them: I've heard alot and I liked what I heard, but I have startde watching the fellowship of the ring about 5 times but fell asleep every time..
EonHSD Lol.. Yea, the first LOTR movie was very VERY slow. I remember thinking, "There's no action. Why is this so popular?". But it get a LOT better & you become immersed in the characters. It's definately a worthwhile experience.
I'll give it a try once again sometime soon

looks interesting... combining all interesting things from other game... it could turn out to be great or just ok... hope it is the first.
but do they mean sometimes orcs will survive on coincidence?
and if everything is how they say it is, i really sounds next gen...
They can also survive by actually killing you & and you respawning via your wraith powers, the orc that killed you will remember he did & react accordingly - This was showcased in the most recent video shown at E3 I believe :)
yeah, i know this part.... but will this be the only way they survive... it sounded like they may just survive an encounter with you... not because they killed you...
and if you are some player good, that don't die, you basically ignore half the game system... doesnt sound right
I believe some orcs possess cowardly traits so they could end up running during battle & if you don't manage to keep up with them they escape that way too.
Atleast I assume thats what would happen if you don't chase the running orcs you see in some of the game-play scenes shown :)

if they manage to pull it off and it is not some kind of false advertisement (like we see very often lately) then this game could turn out to be great
they do retreat if they feel outmatched, and if they get away they may grow stronger from their encounter with you.

I doubt they will, it's not like The Order 1886 or Arkham Knight where they've shown almost no gameplay and pretty much just a few behind the doors tech-demos. This game they've already shown loads of gameplay and it's been playable at conventions for a while.

I think Celebrimbor would be a safe bet to guess him as the wraith. It'd make sense.
I know it's coming out on current/old-gen also, but this might just be the game to finally persuade me to move to a next-gen console. Nothing else I've seen so far has captured my interest like this game and it is looking so good that my Xbox 360 might not do it justice.
I suggest you move on to nextgen take advantage of the cheaper Xbox one it's worth it I love mine.

Will enemies keep scars from previous encounters on the Xbox 360? I've heard it will do all of this on Next-Gen but I've also heard that they didn't do the complete Nemesis system on Xbox 360 or PS3...
You people who are saying " What's that creatures ?!? THAT wasn't in the books!!!" are so exhausting/annoying. First off, stop pointing out what is or is not in the books. Most people have read them, and a lot of people such as myself are more than fine with adding new material. Second, You wine and complain about the LOTR & Hobbit movies as well....Please, do SHUT UP. You can add a new creature here and there or new character without mucking up the established mythology. *GASP!* I know, I just blew some of your minds....And some of you need to learn what an adaptation is. So, I wasn't originally interested in this game... I basically decided to watch this video and, in disbelief, wondered if I could even be convinced. Although now, after seeing the combat and more of the game in general, I can say I actually might give this a shot!
Well... The wraith sometimes looks like an elf... and seeing how the director of design just said they're close... I'm somewhat guessing it could be Gil-Galad o.0 it was the first thing closest popping into my head that was also not so famous in the movies and stuff, making it more difficult to deduct who it can be, only true fans of Tolkien will know who Gil-Galad is. Making it a mystery and leaving a hype behind the wraith so as to make the game more interesting ;)
Fun fact = Talion could refer to latin from the term "lex talionis" which means "An eye for an eye" explaining the vengeful nature of both the wraith and the ranger :)
When he started bullshitting about the AI dungeonmaster, that pissed me off. Look the system is awesome as it is if you deliver on your promises, you don't have to make more promises of AIs cherrypicking interesting traits cause that's just bullshit. Your nemesis system is a series of parameters that procedurally generates enemies with random traits designed to give you a bit of flavour. You're just really building that up so there's a lot of parameters, that doesn't mean you got a goddamn AI.
i bet he is the wraith king-witch king that we all know from the original lotr, propably he got corrupted by the wraith and he became the wraith king.

I only hope they aren't making them so stereotypical that it is not worth playing the game again. Like everyone who has not the abillity to not get combo killed is always done for if you start a combo, or if 3 orcs fleed from you the first time they'll all never take it again up against you again, while the 3 other orcs that you let to live to tell the story seek every opportunity to destroy you, instead of some deside to flee after all or some try to keep their position after fleeing and seek an opportunity to avange. You get what I mean...

Wait did they add a new creature (that mount thing you ride) cause I don't remember that at all in Lotr or hobbit (both books and movies) that's just as bad a Peter Jackson adding legolas and making up tauriel :o but still a badarse game

Jost Golden Video games can make things canon, too. This is based after The Hobbit and before Lord of the Rings. It's safe to say and think there'd have to be more than just wargs as the dominant predatory creature in Middle Earth. Try reading about some of the lore on the lotr Wiki. It might not say anything about the caragore (idk if that's how it's spelled) but maybe then you'll have more of an appreciation for what isn't mentioned in the books and movies. If you want to know where the creature came from, I'd highly suggest playing the game. ;D

If Talion's wraith isn't Isildur, but that's "one the right road, thematically", I'm guessing it's Ar-Pharazon, the last king of Numenor when it was destroyed.
I hope the Fellbeast creatures that the Wiki mentions show up in the game as rideable, if the game is open-world.
Anybody know what's being scaled back on the Nemesis system on the 7th gen console version? Besides graphics. Is it most likely going to be that some enemies will look the same or something like that?

Subscribed..love how all this information bout the game was shown and talked bout in 5 mins in a BBC fashion that didnt make it boring..kept things strictly within relevance.. im starting to hate every gaming website for bullshitting for half the video before getting to the meaty parts of the game

So you are sort of a Death Knight. Even the lore sort of resembles it. You are brought back from the dead and you wanna beat the crap out of someone.

How long is this game? It's open world so does it have like side missions and stuff and is there any RPG elements?
Combat reminds me allot of Ryse, which isn't bad but Ryse gives you the option to execute your enemies in a flashy way kind of like we see here but this looks more forced since it seems to be apart of the combo system, either way it should be a great game and i love the rideable beasts, hope they have bigger mounts as well.

So, it looks like the world of middle earth combined with the stealth mechanics of Assassins Creed, the combat system of the Arkham games, and possibly the troop management system of MGS: Peace Walker. If they can pull it off right, I think this has a lot of potential...then again this could easily fall face first into the mud, so I'll remain skeptical.
Gotta say, the first trailer didn't got my atention too much, but now its looking better. Its like a Arkham+Assassin's+Far Cry with some system on top, nice graphics, its avalible on last gen, what do you want more? Hopefully a cool story too.
i just had a thought could the Wraith possibly be Isildur's Father? He was killed by Sauron and was the King of Gondor so he probably has a lot of reason to want revenge and to see Sauron fall from power right?
If this nemesis system works, it will herald the rise of a whole new generation of RPGs.
It looks like a bit of a rip-off from Arkham City, AC, Far Cry 3 in some things but other than that looks interesting! :D

The Wraith will probably be someone from the first and second era which Tolkien covered thoroughly before his death. The book is called "The Simarillion" (Dont quote me on the spelling).
The most likely character would be morgoth who created the orcs, the balrogs, sauron and all the other nasties in the LOTR universe. He got defeated by the god-like elves but was imprisoned not killed. Personally i think it will be him or one of his many servants that included sauron.
The wraith has to be Isildur, I know it may sound stupid, but the fact that the main character's sword appears shattered ath the begining of the game (just like Isildur's whas destroyed by Sauron) says something to me. And well, the things the guy said in the interview give me some other points on the theory.
They say open world, I'm wondering to what extent? I say that because Watch_Dogs was in development for a good while and all they good come up with was a 20 hour (max) game and a fairly plain map with various repetitive mini games and side quests. This being set in Middle Earth I would hope it will be lengthy with a lot of extra content!
