I love this! I think I will try it on my Genesis page. I ordered this bible and I am so excited to receive it. Thank you for your very creative illustration!
I Love my Illustrating Bible. I've used the David Weekly Watercolor Ground and it works really well and the page has not buckled. I really love the tutorials as I am not artistic or creative so your easy to follow process is fantastic. Thank you.
Came out beautiful! When I first saw the page, I thought, “omg, how did she do that?” I thought of creating a Globe on that first page. I’ve never drawn a globe, however galaxy is prefect, I love it! Thanks Jen!
Thank you so much for this in-depth review! You are definitely one of my favorites, and this video was very timely for me. This is a very big Book, for sure, and probably won't be one carried to church services very often due to its size. I've decided against buying it for several reasons. My #1 reason is that the pages aren't reinforced at the spine; and based on my experience with very large, wire-bound workbooks, I am 98% sure that the pages will tear over time if actively used. It would've been so nice to have a line of lamination on the inner, bound edge. I sincerely hope it holds together, and my concerns are proven unwarranted :-)
Yeah, I totally get that, it's my biggest concern. But I gotta say, I just dropped it in a big, open, messy, way and was amazed to see it was perfectly intact. I thought for sure at least part of it would tear off! haha. Many blessings!
I find that wrinkling is kind of inevitable, and the amount of water you use is really what makes the difference. But I LOVE my craft heat gun to dry my pages.
A link to purchase is in the description of this video, though to my knowledge they are completely sold out of this Bible at the moment. I believe more are being released in Feb.
I find this bible super hard to watercolor in. I've have ued both gesso and not and it just doesn't look good. If you just want to scrapbook maybe ok. I'm not very happy with it and having trouble with the pages already wallowing out and I've been so super careful with it. I've used several watercolors and none look that great.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but if you really wanted a full page for your painting, why didn't you use the blank page facing the first page of Genesis?
Deborah Craytor I thought about it and I could have, but something made me want to stick to the page with the scripture on it. Maybe it was because in my mind I was prepared to work inside the margins, so I had rather scale it down than scale it up and try to fill the entire huge page. It was also the first page I had created in this Bible, and that first markup is always a little intimidating:).
LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! Thank you for sharing this amazing skill!

What way do recommend for drying to prevent wrinkling on watercolors?

What are the dimensions of this big beauty?

Why don't you prep your page first?
1deleau I just find it’s not necessary for the supplies I use, so I save the time and energy :)
