I don't want to correct you because you have definitely more knowledge about cacti than me but Pereskiopsis is not the only cactus that has "normal" leaves. Pereskia has them, too. I didn't try it yet but I heard it's also good for grafting.
Would this work on a ariocarpus or l.w. type? Also I have a huge astro Asteria that on a dying dragon fruit. Im terrified to degraft, but i have seen some that will die and dry with the astro still on top. Then could I just snap off and pray for roots. Ahhh so many questions. I'm so happy I found you though!!!!!!! Thanks Matt

This looks so fun! I guess I'll have to get one of those tool kits, and some cheap stuff to play around with. Why does one do this? Does it make the plant stronger/more vigorous?
Grafting if it works generally makes them grow faster. There are some epiphytic cacti that are very difficult to grow on their own roots or very slow growing so it’s more common to see them grafted. This one I wanted to graft because of it’s importance. The rootstock pereskiopsis is a nice for a newbie grafter like myself to experiment with. There are other stocks that can be used which would produce better results. When picking a stock though it’s good to do a lot of research because of viral transmissions.
Interesting. That's kind of a reverse impale graft where the pereskiopsis would be sharp and youd stab on to it. very cool though

No worries, yes after making this video a few years ago I learned I had read some bad information and there are indeed other cacti with leaves.
