    Thanks for this well made and informative radio. I have one of these bought in a job lot from a SK sale. I don't know if works yet but your information is both helpful and inspiring. Best 73 G0ACE

      Thanks. This radio was part of a batch modified by REME in the late 1960s, for use by government staff to run on domestic mains, as the vibrator PSU is noisey and unreliable. The mod feeds 6.3V AC onto the heater connections on the transformer. Don't use the front connector as the wires are too small. The vibrators syncronous rectifier contacts are replace by a pair of 1N4003 diodes and an extra electrolytic smooting capacitor is required. The alternative is an electronic vibrator replacement. The 'phones' connection on pins L & K on the front connector will run a small speaker directly. Good luck - Mike
