I just got mine. I’m not sure, it feels cramped and uncomfortable. After 20 mins I find my fingers hurting. I also find that trying to support the weight causes accidental presses on the rear buttons and so I can’t comfortably hold it. Not sure, feels like playing with the joycons but on a bigger scale
I already got the Retroflag which is similar, but this looks even better and I would have got it otherwise. Having a Switch Oled that you can pick up without having to worry about breaking it, with a proper grip, with proper joysticks and trigger buttons, it's a total gamechanger.
This will most likely not replace my satisfye grip because that’s THE most comfortable grip for the switch! I LEGIT almost quit gaming as a WHOLE because the switch by itself was giving me cramps and elbow pain added the satisye grip and it changed everything! But I did order this as soon as I saw it announced at summer games fest! I’ll just have it just to have it !
A few things. I wish people would show off the other colours, like the black, for example. Speaking of the black, it'd be great to have a version that comes with a case. Obviously CRKD say to buy the case off their site, but for those of us who aren't in the US, that's insanely expensive to do. So, buying black or white feels a little like shooting yourself in the foot.
I wish I could show off the other colours too but with higher value items like this companies won't send you one of every colourway, especially to smaller channels like ours. I'll best testing the Nitro Deck with other cases soon to see if there's an alternative.
@@128KB Thanks... it was more of a comment towards CRKD because almost all of the review samples they sent out were of the purple one... probably because it's the most popular of the higher priced ones.
The dead zone is hardly non-existent. But it’s not too bad. They mention on the manual that you can adjust dead zone, but don’t explain. They direct you to their support website to find out, and there’s nothing there.
So I brought the nitro deck back in the summer and I recently took it off of my switch. It makes the switch noticeably heavier. I can’t play as long as I would like to in handheld mode with it on since my hands start getting tired of the weight
The home button stays lit for about 30 seconds after you go into sleep mode, I thought it was staying on all the time. The dead zones are absolutely awful, maybe mine is defective? Otherwise it is comfy to use
Having the c stick directly under the face buttons, so no angulation to allow ur thumb to move is a deal breaker for me, was the reason i stopped using my retroflag one
I agree. Sadly that's the problem with the Switch/Xbox layout I've found on everything I've tested bar using a wireless pro style controller. The most ergonomic design is the steam deck layout.
Hi, would you recommend the nitro deck or doyoky Hall effect joycons? I would prefer the versatility of the doyoky joycons. On the other hand I’ve seen that the nitro deck is available for pre order in high street stores which to me says that it’s a quality product, also it looks a lot more durable as the back of the switch is protected. And really I just wanted to ask for some opinions on this matter and if the doyoky joycons are built to a similar quality in terms of durability, features and general performance.
100% right on that and I should have mentioned it! The Nitro Deck is definitely going to have better quality control due to being stocked in actual high street stores. The doyoky's are good but not the same level of quality in my opinion. I'd advocate the Nitro Deck.
@@128KB thanks for letting me know. Do you have any recommendations for a case for the nitro deck? I prefer the black or white nitro deck but they don’t come with a case, and the crkd case is an extra £30. Would be ideal to get a more affordable equivalent.
I saw you in the comments for the product on CRKD RUclips I am also in the Uk I am waiting on mine the same game cube style hope it comes soon cannot wait for this as I hated how unstable the joy cons felt on the original switch the flex feeling made me not want to use it handheld but I travel a lot and wanted to use this on trains and in hotels on the road fingers crossed it comes soon.
I haven't actually got around to doing a full battery test yet but I expect it won't drain the battery too quickly, the benefit of the joycons is their internal batteries bump up the total systems capacity so they will surpass using the nitro deck
It’s a wired controller, I can’t imagine it’ll affect it by more than a few minutes, but interested to see! What type of game you play will also greatly affect the battery, way more than a controller.
Amazing review as always buddy. My controller/grip collection/obsession is all your fault 😅 I'm loving this product so much! The black option is so sleeeeeeeeeek!! Definitely interested in this!!
I will say look at the right thumb stick placement before buying. Unfortunate but mine will collect dust due to this. Go play a game that requires using xyab and the right thumb stick alot...its not a fun experience. Not many reviewers bring this up at all and. Its a shame. Sure u can switch to using back paddles....but why should u even have too for this kind of money
I think it's cool. But everything depends on the D-pad as to whether I'll buy it or not. if it has a good D-pad. And I mean one that I can use both for Celeste, Difficult Mario Maker Levels and Fighter Games. So I am hoping for some in-depth D-pad tests. If it's really good, then it looks like a must buy. But if this is yet another Switch controller with a mediocre D-pad, then I pass. Most of its improvements are rather incremental versus a Hori Split Pad Pro or Compact. I got the Compact right now and it works pretty well. It has good grip and the dpad is all right. I also have a modded Joycon with a d-pad and a very good Switch grip from Amazon, and it's pretty comfortable + controls well. Joycons themselves can be modded with a d-pad and hall effect sticks, and it's cheaper and not that difficult to do (I am not a DIY person at all, and managed to do it a couple of times). Although the kick stand is an upgrade over the standard switch's stand it's definitely a downgrade versus the OLED's.
I like the idea of the nitro deck but I have the GameCube themed RetroFlag and it does almost everything this does and has been out for a longer. Personally think the RetroFlag is a better buy. I got it for $40 and it’s been amazing.
The RetroFlag is great and if you have one there's not a huge point in getting this tbh but this definitely takes the edge, fixing some issues I had with the RetroFlag, I'll do a video soon
@@YaelDion feels more well built. Buttons are not scratchy like retro, triggers are smoother, bumpers have a nice click, etc.. i prefer nitro deck for sure and even find myself using as a controller when docked
