Most of the perennial plants that I sell are small in 1 quart containers. A lot of people like this size due to the price point as well as the ease of digging a small hole for a small plant. Great video. Thank you for sharing! 🙏🏼🌸

I`ve invested 2 years of effort and money so far into gardens & fruits & berries for a future food supply. I don`t go to stores because I don`t trust that the produce isn`t toxic poison. I only grow things that don`t require being coated in chemicals to get a harvest. Many plants that get pests in spring or summer can be planted in late summer when pests go away.
Cow Peas are affected by a beetle in summer that bores into each pea in the pod and lays eggs. Even with heavy weekly spraying you can only expect a 40% harvest. The solution? Harvest the green pods and cook them whole before this happens and plant more in late summer into fall when the beetles are gone to get peas and next year`s seeds.

I like how you started out with the JM that didn’t sell in your fall tree sale. Some of us would see that as a failure and stop buying in a particular plant. Until it dies, it can potentially produce a profit. We sometimes get in the mindset of thinking that every variety of plant that we choose to grow will sell like the Limelight Hydrangea does. And…. A successful plant for one might not be for someone else. This wasn’t my year for Hostas. Out of 3 varieties, I didn’t sell the first one. But I will divide these up for next spring. I just will not go overboard and divide hundreds. Sorry for the long post lol.. Thanks for allowing us to see the business side of a new nursery. While we are all different. Content like this gets our minds thinking. Thanks again! God Bless!

That is what I am trying to do with my small one acre farm. But I am just starting out. Was involved with a rained out garage sale with a friend and I sold 3 one gallon Easter Lily Cactus for $5.00 each. She sold more ruellia. I am spending my time potting up more plants for my sale in Nov. Wishing you the best!

I sooo wish you were near me. Your prices are amazing. That exact coral bells at my lowes = $12, Elderberry = $38. And my elderberry just died. Keep up the amazing work and your customers are lucky to have you.

As for making money with small plants:
As my Coleus plants age into mid fall, I take cuttings. From 6 different Coleus, I have potential $3200 in sales. It took me less than 3 hours to make the cuttings. I will likely use 5 more hours and less than $100 in materials to pot them up for sale-size.
    Easy money.

Craig, the plants themselves are the bank account.

Wow your prices are wonderful! I wish I lived near you. Our stores would be charging at least $17.00 each for that pretty grass. I am trying to turn my hobby into some income. That timing has been so hard for me to get right. Would you do a detailed trimming and training video on your young plants. I have been propagating, dividing and seed growing the last two years. I want to sell from my one acre on a small scale for the time being. Thank you for giving us the information you provide.
