    Excellent sir. But the emphasis so far has been on playing with high elbows. Have seen young batters getting selected just because they play with high elbows. Thank God your video is really refreshing. Thank you so much sir

      High elbow for defence only. This makes you defence very close to the body which is called a great defence.

    Excellent video! While your instruction is fantastic for beginners grasping the fundamentals, I'd like to offer a point for consideration. The full extension of both elbows, as you suggest, is primarily applicable to over-pitched deliveries. When encountering shots played on the rise, slightly bent elbows allow for better control to meet the ball cleanly under the eye, preventing it from being pushed upwards. Additionally, at advanced levels, half-volleys become less frequent compared to length or shorter balls and even if one extends the top hand that would not happen at contact with the ball but rather after the ball has already left the bat. Similarly, when encountering swing, the best option is to let the ball come and play it late. If the hands are extended then the point of contact would have to be quite in front of you which would again prevent you from playing the ball late. Perhaps tailoring your teaching approach to catch these nuances could be beneficial for advanced players, whose games often involve a more personalized and strategic style. Thanks!

    • @salvificblood
      @salvificblood 7 месяцев назад +1

      At the point of contact, the top elbow has to be bent upwards if the head and eyes are going to be as close to the ball as possible. I can't see how his advice is helpful, honestly, as it is just encouraging the hands to get away from the head and body. In England, this would result in getting bowled through the gate and snicking off far more often. I think the whole power hitting craze is actually causing technique to decline. If what a batsman is doing forces the hands and bat to get away from the eyes for the sake of extension, then the chance to hit the ball consistently is only going to reduce, not improve. We're overcomplicating this. Just get your eyes as close to the ball as possible, which means contacting the ball late/underneath your head/eyes.

  • @gowtham5168

    Whatever happened to playing ball late and under eyeline. I am not questioning technique shown as many of his videos are pure gold, but won't this cause the ball to be hit in the air if the ball comes a tad slow or batsman plays a little early
    Also, both hands are supposed to make a diamond shape is what we learmed

    • @farhatkhan612
      @farhatkhan612 Год назад +1

      Exactly what I was thinking, playing away from the body and a bit early

    • @NCI_2024
      @NCI_2024 Год назад +1

      Can't agree more, playing too early without letting the ball come to you can mean less control over the ball and the direction of shots.

    • @siwanka
      @siwanka Год назад

      No way you can play under your eye with this technique. High chance to miss timed and ball in the air. So safer to play under your eye with bend top hand and hiding the bottom hand behind it. The technique he shows I really doubt that will work for advanced players as advanced bawlers will change their tac tics to mis timed the ball.

    This is probably for lofted drives, but for grounded drives the tophand elbow angle needs to be maintained by batsman to ensure that face of bat is towards the ground on impact, sometimes this technique is called high elbow technique........ By the way you are really a great coach

    Sir i have heard often cricket is a top hand dominated game. And your top hand should be firm while batting. So should a right handed person bat left handed just because right hand stays at the top and can bring more firmness in the shots ? There are many players who are ambidextrous like the legend Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Michael Clarke, Ben Stokes and lot more. Want your opinion on this ??

    • @darshanm2518
      @darshanm2518 5 лет назад +1

      Yes
      But both are right
      The point is
      Both the batsman in the video are playing the drive correctly
      The arm is very Correct and straight when the ball meets the bat
      So it is folded only after the connection
      At the point of connection the arm will be straight only

    • @siwanka
      @siwanka Год назад

      The reason play correctly bawler is not throwing like advanced bawler. it's just throwing the ball but still can control. Once it starts swing this is not going to work with variable speeds.@@darshanm2518

      Later contact with the ball. Play the ball under your eyes. Forget your hands. They will take care of themselves. Just get your eyes to the ball so that you hit the ball with your head over the top of it. If you want to hit the ball over the top, then contact the ball earlier/a bit more in front of your head.

  • @SuperYasela
    @SuperYasela 4 года назад +2

    Seriously cricket and golf are two different..In cricket , batsman tries to keep the ball down and drive whereas in golf, one is suppose to hit the ball long as one can, so that he aims to hit the ball 45 degrees to the ground. any student who jas learned his physics would tell the rational behind the 45 degrees. In cricket, if your bottom hand extended, it will cause to lift the ball, and may be caught. One the thing is that, onece both hand extended , you are suppose to hit the ball im front of your eyes or chin. It is well accepted that ball should be played under the eye rather than front of it.

      Birendra Adhikari
      Hi Birendra , I completely agreee with you are saying , however you have not really understood what I am trying to teach here . Off course high below is good , provided it’s the top hand elbow which is high and extending towards the ball , sometimes with young batters , instead of high elbow with the top hand , they start bending the bottom hand and thus a lot of bottom shots happen . When you see me hit some balls in this video , you will notice that my elbow is still bent but it’s towards the ball . I am just explaining the role of the two hands for the batter .
