Ian, as always a brilliant communicator, there is so much junk out there and then there is clarity like this. I've been to the academy and it does make a difference 👌
What an amazing video. Ian Pont makes the most exciting and complex part of cricket which is fast bowling as easy to understand as a cookery lesson. One for the ages. Thank you Sir.
Kids today are so damn lucky to have RUclips content like this. I bowled medium pace as a 6ft3 because I was told to bowl tall (f%#) now at 35 I’m going back to club cricket to inject these tools into my action - all-rounder incoming!
This is much better coaching than other videos on RUclips. I can say that because my hip-shoulder separation was not working properly and no other video explain how to fix it in such simple way. This makes so clear what am I doing wrong here. I am inspiring to be state level fast bowler.
I’m so glad I found this page, Simply the best explanation, technique and advice I’ve found on fast balling, I’m no cricket expert but this hits the spot!
Best fast bowling tips I have ever seen, just copying and repeating these 4 tent pegs feel alot more explosive in your bowling action. Strengthening the body mechanics
This video saved many learners from wasting money in spending for useless coaches...........thanks for providing this video 🙌🙌.....true and worthy masterclass from pong👏👏👏
This really is a classy exposition on the biomechanics of fast bowling. The communication for practical application was of the highest excellence. Production was great too (not too longwinded, direct but with enough explanation of Ian’s background to verify his credibility.
Ian, This is undoubtedly the best fast bowling explanation I have ever come across in all the training, literature and videos I was able to get my hands on over the years. I wish this video was around when I was much younger. My son is exponentially better than I was at 10 years old and is getting better daily, as he is a hard worker. I'll use the building blocks I have interpreted from your video and help my son along. I'm more than pleased to have come across this video. Thank you, thank you, thank you sir 🙏
Glad you enjoyed this video. Ian was great to work with on this one! Please do also check out the other videos on the channel too and let me know what you think!
Brilliant stuff Neel and Ian. Really enjoyed that. Would love to have some coaching from Ian at some point, not sure if it's an option for adult players.

Everything i've learned was so wrong now it's time to start over and this time it is going to be different. Thank you so much for this video and God Bless
The best explanation I got thanks❤. difference between what I actually feels better way of bowling and what actual way of bowling fits me for my body, shoulder and running style . *Even for life, how I try to achieve in some style and what it actually fit for my condition
@@CricketLifeStories I just had my first net after probably 5 years this evening and I've lost all my pace though I'm now in my late 30s and needed somthing to understand fundamentals to see what bits I can try to adjust to get the ball down quicker. I wasnt express by any means but felt like the ball was just landing on the spot each time with no zip
I bowl with semi-side on action. It's natural to me. I have seen bowlers with side on action having good accuracy and I feel it gives a bit of pace too. Is it advisable to change from semi side on action (which is natural to me) to side on action for that extra pace and accuracy?
Straight front leg - for front on option - example Brett Lee...having a strong lower body helps in stability....and how well we finish after landing and release is equally important ensuring entire body weight and momentum is carried into the delivery - case in point the great flintoff
Music Travel - Twitter is probably the best with your question - @ponty100mph. I am sure he will reply to you if he has the time. Thanks for watching the video!
Sir what's the problem with Naseem Shah he got great speed+hyperextension in his arms but he often unfits whenever he pushed himself in test matches sometimes back issues and ankle issues.
This is one of the best analyses of fast bowling I've seen... though some of Ian's comments about 100m sprint times are a bit shaky, and I doubt H.Larwood bowled at 95mph. I suspect closer to 85-90mph and bowling speed has increased over the years to nudging 100mph. The real point here is bowling speeds have never been measured until quite recently, unlike time and distance parameters in other sports. But even if Larwood bowled at 95mph in 1933 (..which I doubt), the increase to 100.2 mph in 2003 is 5.5%. The real increase may be 10%. For the same time period, the 100m men's sprint time improved by only 5%. Therefore, I think it is wrong to say bowlers have stagnated and not increased performance over time unlike other sports. But this video only looks at conventional bowling actions. To go faster, slingshot (trebuchet) techniques need to be taught and nobody did it better than Jeff Thomson, who was most likely the fastest ever, and unconventional. Real speed comes from acceleration (not velocity) of the arm just before releasing the ball. A slingshot action with the ball starting low, or even behind the back, not only helps to delay the arm, but increases the length of arc for acceleration. More catapult, less flywheel. Its a difficult style to control and nobody teaches it because its seen as unconventional. To get upward toward 105mph I believe this style has most potential.
No you don’t have to bowl like Jeff Thompson to bowl 100mph that’s just one style as Ian was saying. And Larwood was definitely a lot quicker than 85mph
Bowling genius, ostracised by ECB. Worked with IP over several years and he really understands the roots of pace. I'd just completed ECB2 and it, like the way pace was being coached at Loughborough, was completely useless.
I suppose you will ask Achrekar sir (Sachins coach) how many hundreds he scored?. Not all great players become great coaches - coaching like teaching is an art and a talent.
