      There will be times you think you are wasting your time - in reality even if you play around with it for 5 min or so each day you will be doing things without even thinking about it where as before you would have to stop , then slow it down and repeat - you will see results - hang in and get in D and hang on !

    Close to 40 and knuckling down to finally learn the guitar. 6 weeks in and I can't believe I'm at this juncture. The grind goes on but I'm super pumped and thankful for your work.

      I'm 40 as well.... never give up my friend.... yes...the grind goes on. There is no end to your journey or learning. It's endless. Always a new skill to learn. But remember this.... 90 percent of all people on earth who touch a guitar will all quit within one year..... so if you make it for longer than a year....you are literally in the top 10 percent of all who have ever played. And every time you pick up your guitar and play and learn....you honor all of us who came before you. So thank you.
      A fellow student.

    Not really been doing much Justin work lately but this has joined a few things together for me, watching him walking up the base line to change chords and adding a few embellishments while still strumming the chords. Seems so simple but I have ignored that so I’m going to get really comfortable on this now as it actually sounds like I can play guitar!

    Strumming remains my weakness. I love the way you can strum so softly and fluently. I also enjoyed how the order of all these chord progessions sound (and quite familiar without being able to pinpoint any songs - although the first one gave me a hint of Neil Young). I know all these chords so this exercise should help a lot.

    This just may be the most important insight I have had in the last year! I primarily only ever wanted to play lead guitar and I'm decent at it. But the wifey wants me to learn what I call campfire and party songs. I figure if I can semi-master chrords and chord progressions I will well be on my way. Also the way you create the F chord from a C chord transition was a huge light coming of for me. Thanks for all you do Justin! I am learning a ton from you!!

    Wow, Dude!
    You taught me how to play guitar some 15-16 years ago! Good to see you are still active! And thanks for teaching past me!
    (Well, actually, this year I found out, I never could really play the guitar. Listening to one's own recording is quite confrontational... But to be fair also the way you can improve reallly really fast! You hear exactly what you are doing wrong, so...)

    • @Quadr44t
      @Quadr44t 2 года назад

      By the way, came across this video because I was looking for a list of chord progression (. I have this suspicion that in composing, a chord progression might be a good starting point (previously, I would try and create a hook, via a riff, or lead+bassline or whatever. But that is not a super efficient writing method in my experience. I wanna try chord progression as a starting point now, and practice using the circle of fifths for writing purposes.
      Any tips about this, are more than appreciated. My music theory understanding is quite limited. Well at least when it comes to the jargon…. But that makes communication difficult! xD

    Hey good day just came across one of your beginner videos today. Have been playing guitar for approximately 55 years, learn some music stuff here and there but just primarily created my own tunes and jammed with people and such and lots of closet recording. You are a great inspiration and a great teacher ! Thank you for sharing this and teaching us all something new. Keep up the great work enjoy playing. PS nice selection of instrumentation behind you in the video.👍😊 stay well have a beautiful day look forward to your videos. Jim
