Thank you for sharing I am thinking of getting a Breezair supercool EXS180 how many square meters will this air-conditioning do without struggling and how many outlets can I have.
Also can you tell me if the air-conditioning is a little big will it be a problem or will it just keep my house cooler easier and not struggling on very hot day or humid days.

Hi Angie, so sorry to only see this now, we always recommend getting a in-home consultation from someone representing Breezair. A bigger machine doesn’t always make it cooler, the trick is to install an evap cooler to work as efficiently as possible.
I like to run my 750W hair dryer 16h straight every day.
Nailed it with the video guys. Checked all the boxes, especially relating the energy consumption to very common household items. Great way to explain the air flow with simple but very easy to understand drawings. Cheers!

Great video. I didn't know that the fan uses the same power whatever speed it's set to. But that makes sense.
I cleaned a load of black off of the ceiling vents... I guess that means there's a load of mould in the ducts?

That’s awesome to hear, It’s important because people don’t understand how cheaply evaporative air conditioning can cool your entire home, I think the average is $0.25/hour.

We get 45+ Celcius days here in summer, high humidity renders the evaporative coolers less and less effective and thus a conventional reverse cycle cooling system is necessary.

You should get a window fan with air extractor to blow out the air

I've been checking out passive cooling for a bit now. I haven't tried working with one yet so this may be a dumb question. Why do you need the fan? Earth ships blow heat out and draw air in from a lower level past a long thermal mass and blow cool (ish) air into a house. Admittedly I imagine you have to redefine what your definition of cool is with this system. But if you were to introduce a water filter like the ones in your video into the process could you accomplish the same goal without the fan? I'm sure the throughput would be greater with a fan. Maybe the edition of a eco cooler would help offset the volume of air with cooler temps.
Are the pads supposed to be warm and dry on the outside?
Any tips on very humid days ?

Did you use thread tape? The little white tape seals the threads from leaking
1:50 of course there is a relation between fan speed and energy consumption.
The speed adjustment is literally a potentiometer and the fan is lightweight, so there isn't really much resistance from inertia or anything.
Slow fan speed = Less volts = Less wattage
this potentiometer has a resistance in itself i think
Thanks for informative video Damian. A query. I am using Braemar Paradigm LCQ350 - Evaporative Cooler. Its says capacity as 10.1kw. Does that mean its motor is 10.1 kilo watt ?

Hi... kW rating for evaps is a lose figure based on the size of the motor and the pad surface area... it was designed to help customers compare brands. However the size of the motor had little bearing on the air flow. One brand in particular needs 1500w to produce less air than another brand that uses 1000w However you really need to look at air flow and duct sizing. The problem is retailers often use smaller duct with smaller coolers to make it feel like there is allot of air pressure when infact you aren't getting adequate air changes per hour in your home. Your cooler uses 425w so it's nearly .5 of a kW

@allskillsevaporativeandgas I had a plumbing company install a brand new BONAIRE evaporative cooler on my roof and they could never get the high-speed to work, only low. They keep insisting it's my switch inside my house but the switch worked originally on my last air conditioner and we have tried 5 different brand new switches. Can you point me to any of your videos that explain how to do the tension pulley for the fan because somebody suggested that's why the high-speed doesn't work.
Hello… we have never replaced a cooler and leave the old controller as it could damage the cooler and void warranty. I’m sorry you weren’t given good advise
Is it ok to leave it on all day with proper ventilation? I worry about moisture. I live in country Victoria where it is pretty dry but still have concerns especially with carpet and upholstery.
Hi there. Yes you can run it 24/7 i do! If you find the floors getting damp you don’t have enough window space open

today in melbourne temp was around 33C, after using ducted cooling, I figured it out that my tiles are getting wet. Is this normal ? how to prevent this ?
No you need to open more windows and don't use the evaporative when it's too humid. If your tiles are wet turn it to fan mode
You're right, evaporative coolers consume less energy (compared to air conditioners).
Can swamp coolers be used as cooling towers to cool water used for cooling AC condensing coils?

They work best in dry heat climates. They don’t work in the northern parts of Australia due to the humidty. You’ll often find most of our east coast states have wall mounted split systems over evap systems. In Perth evaps are everywhere

Evaporative cooling is pretty useless in humidity, so it’s probably not the most best for Florida.
I hear Florida weather is like Queensland weather which makes a swampy useless, they don't have evap up there so I'm positive it wouldn't be great to have in Florida either

You need an open window to exhaust the pressure and warm air out of the house as quickly as the cold(er) air comes in.

750 watts isn't little... AC units are far superior for double the energy consumption, which is still better bang for the buck

How so? This is for your entire home. A 3kw split system is 3000w per room? Please explain? Also this isn't a debate on what's better that's really a personal choice... I'm merely helping people improve their evaporative cooling experience 😎
AC units are going to be at least 5 times the consumption. But hey, burn your money if you wish 🤷♂️
@@damianearnshaw8120 not true at all I have a 7kw split system it pulls 2kw and cools down my entire 4bed home. also get the added benift of super energy efficient heating because reverse cycle is the most efficient heating form
