UPDATE: I just made this delicious bread! Oh my gosh! Nothing I made from other recipes, recipes from the bread machine book, ever tasted good! This is wonderful! But I didn’t oil my pan enough, and some of the crust stuck to one side and a bit on the bottom. I’m not used to cast iron but what a difference in the way the loaf looks and cooks. The taste is divine no matter what! I’m not in love with my bread machine, I don’t think it mixes well. But I opened it up on the beginning of the dough cycle and did my best to watch it. I felt when I took it out after the cycle ended it was a bit sticky. What would the solution have been? More flour added to the dough? I’m really so thrilled, I’ve sent pictures to all my family. I can see eventually perfecting this with repetition and a little more experience. Thank you again! 🥰🇺🇸
CYNTHIA! I AM SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS! Thank you so much for making this bread recipe and letting me know you liked it so much!!! It really is wonderful bread, I make this alllllll the time and we eat it up! If you watched your ball of dough at the beginning of the dough cycle, and it made into a nice smooth ball, but the dough felt sticky at the end of the cycle, then you could use a bit more flour next time, BUT the more flour you use, the more dense the bread can get, so you have to decide if you want to do that or not. If it's a bit sticky but you could still handle it and shape it, and were pleased with the texture of the final product, I probably wouldn't change much. You can also flour your surface very lightly and hand knead it a few times to get it a little easier to work with if you need to after the dough cycle has completed, before you shape it into a loaf. Or you can also oil your hands and work surface to not let it stick and make it a little easier to work with. Keep experimenting with it, becasue this loaf is one you're going to want to make again and again! Definitely well oil you cast iron, more than you think necessary. I usually pour about a Tbs of oil into my cast iron and rub it around with a paper towel and leave a nice thick layer of oil in it. I'm so glad to hear your loaf turned out and you are proud of it!!! That makes me really happy to hear. Really, thank you for tell me Cynthia!
@@cynthiasanchez6346 instead of flour...pour a drizzle of oil on top if it's sticking. Especially since using cast iron. I like a non stick pan. I can't use cast iron anymore personally cuz of the weight...for cast iron, if it doesn't come out easily when hot...let it cool them use a butter knife of the sides...gently use knife to lift or slide a spatula under it and swipe it back and forth. This will help release the bread without tearing it up.
@@peepla7 Thank you for the tip! I’m getting a bit better, doing a little more breads. With my new bread machine it’s easier to watch the dough. I appreciate your comment. Thanks! 🥰👍🇺🇸
thank you for inspiring me to start making my own bread instead of buying it! just got my machine now and so far im loving it! keep up the amazing videos!!!
Michael, I am so happy that you’re making your own bread instead of buying it! That is amazing! Thank you so much for telling me. That really is my goal and it thrills me to hear you’re making my recipes and having success with them. Keep up the good work. Thank you for watching and reaching out! Robyn
I just made this bread and I was so happy when I tasted it!!! Even my husband who is so picky said it’s the best yet. So, guess I’ll erase all my other bread sandwich recipes because this is a keeper. You must try it! Than you Robyn!
THANK YOU for coming back to let me know you and your husband like this bread so much! I agree, it's the best!! I am so happy you're pleased with it. Thanks so much for making this recipe. I appreciate your review. :)
Morgan, I am thrilled to hear that! That makes me so happy. Thanks so much for trying out this recipe and for letting me know it turned out well for you! And don't you just LOVE the cast iron bread pan?! I appreciate you so much!
Just from the measurements..I knew this would fill up my machine...so when it beeped...I spread it out, cut it in half and put one in my bread pan and the other half back in the bread machine...let them rise for an hour then I clicked the bake button on the machine and the other is in the oven. Came out amazing. I've been having an issue with recipes rising to the top and making a really tall bread...so I cut it in half and got two fantastic normal sized loaves. One is going to my daughter and one is gonna be here for personal use. This recipe is great. I might throw an egg in the next batch.
Fantastic! I'm so happy to hear that! Great innovation on making it work for your bread machine. You're a great mom giving a loaf to your daughter. I know she'll appreciate that! Thanks for trying this recipe and for letting me know you liked it!
Thank you for this comment! I stopped proofing my yeast years ago when I didn't see a difference, but I will have to experiement with it again! Thanks for your comment! I will have to throw some dough enhancer in next loaf I make--I usually just use it with whole wheat bread, but I'll give it a try for a white loaf! Thank you!
Yes! You sure can! It does turn out softer and fluffier when made in the oven, but can be made the same way entirely in the bread machine. I’d use a basic white loaf, and choose the crust color you’d prefer. I seem to always choose light crust. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching and for your question!
Yes, the bread machine bakes the bread at a lower temperature, I've read between 300-325 degrees, so that's why the difference I believe. Great question!
Hi Karen! No, I don’t grease my bread machine pan, but I do oil my cast iron bread pan that I put the dough in to bake. Hopefully that helps. Thanks for your question!
Hi Earl, have you tried this sandwich bread recipe? It uses the bread machine dough cycle and the bread is baked in the oven. Comes out great! I definitely prefer it to letting the bread machine bake the bread. It comes out much lighter, softer, and fluffier.
That’s a great question! Typically I just wipe it down, make sure it’s dry, and oil it before I put it away. This will help it to not rust and be ready for the next time I pull it out to use it. If I’ve made something with a filling or something that got it dirty, I’ll wash with soap, the dry and oil it. If it needs to soak, I try not to forget about it too long. They are very easy to take care of luckily! Just be sure to keep it dry and oiled! Thanks so much for your question and for watching!!
@@RobynOnTheFarm Thank you so very much! I have a pan downstairs I have never used because I wasn’t sure how to take care of it. That’s so simple I feel okay to try it. 👍🥰🇺🇸
It is a little intimidating at first because it’s so different than the non stick stuff we’re all used to, but really just use it, wash it, dry it well, and keep it oiled and they will last forever! Definitely well oil before cooking in your pan, it will get better and better over time!!
ruclips.net/video/g0CEZinNb5w/видео.html Hi Cheryl! This is my video that shows how to make this exact same bread recipe using a stand mixer instead of the dough cycle (but you can also hand knead!). Thanks so much for watching and for your question!

FYI I proof my yeast first and I found that I get a better loaf of bread. I also use 1/2 tsp. of dough enhancer (which I purchase from Amazon).

Are you using the 8.5 or 10 inch pan?
Can u make/bake all the way in the bread machine ? Settings ?
Yes! You sure can! It does turn out softer and fluffier when made in the oven, but can be made the same way entirely in the bread machine. I’d use a basic white loaf, and choose the crust color you’d prefer. I seem to always choose light crust. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching and for your question!
I have a question....my bread machine bake cycle bakes for an hour, in the oven it's 350 for 30 mins. Why the big difference...is it the temperatures?
Yes, the bread machine bakes the bread at a lower temperature, I've read between 300-325 degrees, so that's why the difference I believe. Great question!
Do you grease your bread machine pan?
Hi Karen! No, I don’t grease my bread machine pan, but I do oil my cast iron bread pan that I put the dough in to bake. Hopefully that helps. Thanks for your question!
It seem like every time a make bread in my bread machine the bread comes out like a brick like 5 pounds. I want to make light sandwich bread?
Hi Earl, have you tried this sandwich bread recipe? It uses the bread machine dough cycle and the bread is baked in the oven. Comes out great! I definitely prefer it to letting the bread machine bake the bread. It comes out much lighter, softer, and fluffier.
Looks great! Is it a 1lb or 2lb loaf?
Thank you! This is a 1.5 lb loaf. Thanks for watching!
I probably have the goofy question! How do you clean and care for your cast iron pan afterwards? 🤷♀️🥰🇺🇸
That’s a great question! Typically I just wipe it down, make sure it’s dry, and oil it before I put it away. This will help it to not rust and be ready for the next time I pull it out to use it. Put the salt in the corner away from the yeast....salt can kill the yeast.
Rubbish!! Old women’s tale..
