I totally agree that this recipe makes the best bread and I’m so happy you agree too! Thank you for letting me know and brightening my day! I appreciate it so much!!
The loaf baked in the oven is longer where the bread machine one is taller. Try letting your bread for the oven do it's last rise in the oven with the light on and you might get more rise. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thanks for the tip! My oven has no light, isn’t that strange? It’s the only oven I’ve ever had without a light! I could still let it rise in the warm oven. I was pleased with both loaves. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for sharing. I am 74 and over this last year started making bread in my bread machine. It’s easy but I think I would like a more traditional looking loaf, so I will try just using the dough cycle. Thank you for showing us how.❤️✝️🙏🇺🇸
Thank you for your comment Dee! I am thrilled you’ve been making bread in your bread machine! Definitely try using the dough cycle and baking in the oven. Not only info you get a more traditional looking loaf, the texture and crust turns out differently, too, and I really prefer it. It will be great for you to experiment and see if you prefer it, too! Thank you so much for watching and being here!
I just took my loaf of bread out of the oven. I am 74 years old and I got a used bread maker for Christmas. I have tried three other recipes and they did not turn out. My loafer bread looks beautiful just like yours and I sure hope it taste delicious just like you say yours does dinner is almost ready and the loaf of bread is almost cool, so I’m really hopeful. Thank you for your recipe.
Marie, that is awesome! I am so happy to hear you’re starting to make bread and that this loaf turned out for you when others didn’t! It is a real tried and true recipe that I make all the time, so I felt confident sharing it. Have you tasted it yet?! What did you think? Thanks so much for watching, commenting, and making this loaf of bread!! I appreciate it!
I found your channel a couple of weeks ago. I am so glad i did. I make bread for the sister missionaries, and this is the perfect recipe for them. I have put this in my book for consistent use. Farm life is the best!! I know i love mine.
I’m so glad you found my channel! Thanks for watching and making the recipes! I love that you’re making bread for the sister missionaries! I’m sure they really appreciate you making them homemade bread-and their moms do, too! 💚
Robyn I am so grateful I found your wonderful channel , I have been wanting to make my own bread , Got my bread machine at the thrift shop and after watching you , I said I can do this ! Robyn i did it ,I made your awesome recipe last night in my bread machine and when I opened the little door i was soooo happy 😃, my bread turned out fantastic,I was praying all the way to the machine It rose just like yours and it sliced so good and it is delicious! I can’t thank you enough, This will be in my little recipe book forever ! Thank you again Sincerely Sharon with much gratitude 😊
Sharon! This makes me SO HAPPY! Congratulations on making your first loaf of bread! I am so glad it turned out so well and that you like it! I love making bread, it gives me such a feeling of accomplishment and pride every time I make a loaf. I hope you feel that too. Thank you so much for letting me know. I am honestly so happy for you and so happy my video helped you to accomplish that! It was worth all the time and effort just for that! Robyn
Instead of using the sugar recommended in this wonderful recipe substitute it with 2 table spoons of honey and 1 and 1/2 tea spoons of sugar and I think you will be pleasantly surprised 🍞
Hi Robyn I am a Newbie & Subscriber to your channel, I am on a mission to find the best loaf of bread & your video has won me completely. Very informative & you explained so well. I needed to learn what to do with the dough after it comes out of machine & know I know. Thanks Heaps Cheers Denise- Australia 😃😃
Hi Denise! I’m so glad you found this video helpful! That was my goal! This really is the best loaf of bread, in my opinion :) I definitely love using the dough cycle, shaping it, and baking it in the oven. Let me know what you think after you try this recipe!! Thank you so much for being a new subscriber, I’m glad you’re here!!
Haha! I sure do! I actually go through 2-3 of these large bags of flour every month just baking for my family! I really enjoy it. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!
This was so informative and to the point and I loved the experiment and comparison! Was the bread machine one more tall and airy due to the longer cook time? Do you know what temperature the bread machine is operating at while baking the bread in there??
Thank you so much for your kind words! The bread machine bakes at about 325 degrees according to my manual, so yes, I bet you're right, that probably did make the bread machine loaf taller and more airy. The loaf pan was just a bit longer than the bread machine loaf, making it a bit longer and less tall, as well. But overall, I was so suprised at the size difference! Thank you so much for watching!! I appreciate you being here!
I use this same recipe. The only difference is that I use 2 table spoons of honey and 1 and 1/2 tea spoons of sugar I just love letting the machine do the work and then baking in a regular bread pan in the oven I also use an eletric bread knife for perfect slices every time at my chosen thickness also when I take the bread out of the oven I have more of that wonderful I did it myself feeling I buy my ingredients in regular size packaging and my cost is about the same as a regular loaf from a grocery store so for the same price you get fresh warm homemade bread without the extra additives of factory bread
That’s awesome, I’ll have to try it your way, too. I do have another recipe that I swap the sugar out totally for honey, it’s amazing. I love letting the machine do the work, too. That is great you’re making your own bread. It’s rewarding and so much better than the “fake” stuff from the store! Thanks so much for watching!!
Robyn, thanks so much for the recipe. I made this today and it is fantastic! I used 2 tsp of dry yeast because I use a yeast that comes in little envelopes and that was what was in it. The loaf came out almost like a cartoon like loaf. It is beautiful and delicious! Thanks for sharing 😀
Natalia, I am absolutely thrilled to hear this! I’m so glad you made it and it turned out so great for you! Thank you so much for letting me know! Also, it’s great to know 1 packet of yeast works for this recipe. Thank you! I appreciate it so much!
Hi Karen, this recipe is for a 2 lb loaf. Here are the adjusted ingredients for a 1 lb loaf and a 1.5 lb loaf: For a 1 lb loaf: 1/2 c hot water 2 1/2 Tbs milk 2 Tbs oil or melted butter 1 3/4 c bread flour or all-purpose flour 1 1/2 Tbs sugar or honey 3/4 tsp salt 1 tsp active dry yeast For a 1.5 lb loaf: 3/4 c hot water 1/4 c milk 3 Tbs oil or melted butter 2 3/4 c bread flour or all-purpose flour 2 Tbs sugar or honey 1 1/8 tsp salt 1 tsp active dry yeast I hope that helps! Thanks for your question. I added this information to the description because I’m sure others were wondering too.
I enjoyed this video...thanks for doing a comparison. I'm just waiting for my bread machine to arrive - I'm no longer making homemade bread in the oven (too time and energy demanding for me at the moment) and I'm hoping to get as good results as you from just throwing my ingredients into a machine 😁
Thanks so much! Enjoy your new bread machine! You are going to love making your bread in it. Have fun experimenting with it. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!
This was exactly what I needed. I made my first loaf in my bread machine only, and it turned out nice but I didn't like the shape and the little hole on the bottom! I really appreciate the time you took to make this tutorial and comparison. Now I just need to get a cast iron bread pan :)
Yes, I really love bread made using the bread machine dough cycle and baked in the oven because I like the shape better and no holes! Plus I just like the thinner, softer crust better too. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it! Good luck with your dough cycle loaf! Let me know how you like it!
2 lb loaf 1 c hot water (237 grams) 1/3 c milk (83 grams) 1/4 c oil or melted butter (57 grams) 3 3/4 bread flour or all purpose flour (510 grams) 3 Tbs sugar or honey (37.5 g sugar or 64 g honey) 1.5 tsp salt (8.5 grams) 1.5 tsp active dry yeast in well (4.5 grams) I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
I just made this recipe, from bread machine to loaf pan, and it was way too good to waste on sandwiches. I'm going to gain ten pounds. Somebody stop me!🍞😺❤
YES! I feel you! It is definitely my go to snack! I’m so glad you like it!! Thanks so much for watching, making it, and letting me know you like it!! I so appreciate it!
I love the Zo! I love the double paddles, it’s motor is very strong (I do a lot of fresh milled flour breads in it and some bread machines can’t handle that but it can), it is quiet, it’s easy to use, it works great. It has a bread pan that is a bit longer which I like so the loaves come out more traditional looking when baked totally in the bread machine. But I used my WS bread maker for years and years and still love that one, too. They’re both very good and I often have them both running at the same time! I do recommend the Zo, it’s a great machine. Thanks so much for watching and for your question!
The both look beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I am looking forward to making them both with your recipe in my cast iron loaf pan and in my Breville bread machine. THANKA AGAIN! 👌🏼. I wonder if the amount of yeast will make the difference in making a less risen bread in the bread machine. Hmmm…
Thanks so much! It was fun to compare the 2 loaves side by side. I'm so glad you're going to try this recipe out both ways! That makes me so happy! Thanks for watching and for your comment :)
Can you bake the dough using the loaf pan instead of the breadmachine pan after its proofed outside the breadmachine so as to get the same texture as that baked in the breadmachine?
Sorry, not that I know of. You must like the shape and looks of it in the loaf pan, but prefer the texture of it baked in the bread machine. I prefer the looks and the texture of it baked in the loaf pan in the oven, so it works out well for me. :) thanks for watching and for your question! Maybe someone else will see it and have a solution!
Love your channel I just found and can I make my regular roll recipe but just make it in my bread machine on the dough cycle or does it have to be a bread machine recipe? Thank you for the comparison. I still like the look of the one in the oven too.
Yes you can! To use the bread machine dough cycle for your recipe, put in your wet ingredients, followed by the dry ingredients, followed by the yeast. Then check the ball of dough to be sure it isn't too wet or dry a few minutes into the cycle. If you have a 2 lb bread maker, don't use recipes with more than 4 cups of flour or it may overflow or overrise. Thanks so much for watching and for your great question!!
Thank you sooo much for taking the time to answer my question so fast. I did find your buttery roll recipe that I think I will try first. They look really yummy!!!
So this has been my go to recipe since I’ve started and just awesome. I will say that I had much better results with bread flour. But I have a question, can you put two of these in the oven? Like if I get another bread machine lol I started selling this bread to people I work with then with people that live near by. So I’m looking to increase production without going commercial if that makes sense. Love your content!!!
I’m so glad you like this recipe and it is AWESOME you’re selling this bread! I just love that! Yes, you can definitely get several bread machines going and bake several of these loaves in the oven at the same time without any change in time or temperature. If you’re looking to ramp up production even more in the future, I have a large Bosch mixer than can make the dough for 2-6 loaves at a time. It’s a different process than using the bread machine dough cycle, but still easy and I use this recipe that way, too. I have videos on that too. But stick with the bread machine dough cycle for now since you’re obviously having luck with that!! Thanks so much for watching and making this bread!!
I’m using a GF flour. I’ve made 2 loaves in my bread machine and they each sunk. I purchased a Pullman pan. I am currently using the Dough cycle and will bake in the oven. Will the bake time be the same for GF?
@kmscrap Sorry, I have zero experience with gluten free flour, but I have heard it is totally different to work with, so I’d probably look for recipes specifically for GF. Sorry I’m no help! If I had to guess, I’d assume you’d bake it at the same time and temperature in the oven. I sure hope it turns out well! Please let me know!
My Zojurishu has the longer traditional shaped bread pan and the loaf is so tall, I end up cutting one slice into 2 pieces of bread for a sandwich. I do like the "baked in the oven" loaf size better, but I'm lazy and just let the machine do all the work!
It is nice to be "lazy" sometimes and let the bread machine do all the work! It's still homemade bread and it is delicious! Thanks for watching and commenting Jane! I appreciate it!
Ours stays good for at least 3 days stored in a bread bag, but we are a family of 6 so ours never last longer than that without being eaten. I have heard from others that slice their bread, wrap it, and store it in the freezer. They pull out individual slices as needed and claim it still seems like fresh. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Hello from Australia, I have tried this recipe with success. Have tried others and they did not work. Can you tell me I noticed you have a Bosch mixer and I would love to purchase one but cannot buy in Australia, but can buy online from the states, but my concern is that it will have a different power plug to Australian ? Do you know that is the case ?
Hi Denise all the way from Australia! Thanks so much for watching! It’s amazing to have someone like you watching from the other side of the globe! I am so happy you had success with my recipe! It really is a good one. I highly, highly recommend the Bosch mixer, but i do believe it would have a different plug. I have seen plug converters, and believe something like that would work for you, but I have no experience, and that is just a guess. Sorry to not be of more help. Thanks again for watching and commenting! I wish you luck with your mixer! It really does make bread making easier.
@@RobynOnTheFarm also I wanted to ask can that same recipes be used for individual bread rolls or do you have another recipe that will work? The bread I made I used in leaches plain flour even though it looked great and tasted ok so I have taken your advice from other videos and purchased bread flour today, so I’m hoping it will improve it in my next loaf
These are some of my favorite roll recipes for you to try! ruclips.net/video/sovo9NQogvg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/B9lom0HJI8I/видео.html I'll be sharing more soon because I love rolls! Good luck with your new bread flour-I definitely prefer using bread flour when it is available. Let me know what you think of it and how your bread turns out with it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I appreciate it.
Yes you can! If you have a 2 lb capacity bread maker, you’ll want to stick with recipes that aren’t more than about 4 cups of flour so it doesn’t overflow or rise too high in your machine (thats about 2 c for a 1 lb and 3 c for a 1.5 machine). And you’ll want to put in liquid ingredients first, followed by dry, and usually yeast on top. Thanks for this question!
Hi Glen, no I didn’t. Just a basic white cycle for the one made completely in the bread machine and a regular dough cycle for the other one. I’m guessing the difference in rise between ours may be due to a difference in yeast or flour? Thanks so much for watching and being here.
I made this bread again today in a different bread machine, and realized my bread machine loaf pan is shaped very differently than the one I used in this video--maybe that made a difference for yours? I used a longer loaf pan today, so it was longer and less tall, and made me think of your comment. Just a thought! Thanks again for watching Glen.
I have only made these in machines with 2lb loaf capacity, but I think this loaf would work just fine in a 3 lb machine because it makes a large loaf! Thanks for watching and for the question!
I couldn’t get over the size of the flour and sugar and things that she used. If your bread turns out, I might have to buy a big sacked like that. L O L
Lehi Mill Flour: amzn.to/3ThVJde Here is a link to the flour I use! It is sold in 4 2 lb bags. It is really excellent flour, the best I have ever used and have always been happy with.
Yeah like SO much taller, I was so surprised since they were the exact same amounts! I have no idea why I never made them to compare side by side before! I’ve been using my bread machine a ton lately-busy time of year and it is so convenient. Pull yours out!
Thanks for the question Robin! You want your water to be about 105-115 degrees. Hot water does kill yeast, but I’ve heard that temperature is around 140 degrees. You definitely want it warm enough to help activate your yeast. Warm/hot bathtub water type temperature seems perfect to me. I usually just turn my tap all the way to hot and let it run a minute and it works great! Thanks again for watching and for the question to help with any confusion!
time for making properly good bread is 48 hours handmade version and temperature below 35 c above this temperature dough will be like a stone. its take 12 hours for handmade bread to grow then need be "proofed" mean need be mixed again gently and lukewarm water need be added ...bread machine replace all this traditional knowledge with moisture keeping, kneading and turning as well keeping yeast in perfect and moist temperature for tall and evenly mixed and moist bread. after backing put bread in cotton or brushed cotton, best is 90%linnen, clothe and wrap them loosely. i put mine in backing trays but cold ones and this wrap in big fluffy super-size towel. if your bread looks very crusty and you do not like too dry surface just sprinkle a bit of mist water and wrap them up for 2-3 hours, after this place them in wooden or aluminium container with small went, if you use wooden container remember to do not bleach them - yeast do not like them, BUT YOU MUST CLEAN WOODEN STORAGES OFTEN AND DRY THEM WELL. if you do not keep them in tip top condition your bread will be mouldy fast and you will have serious poisoning, DO NOT EAT FRESH AND WARM BREAD OUT OF OVEN OR BREADMAKER!!! YEAST ARE CULTURES OF FUNUS WHAT IN WARM BREAD WITH ACIDES IN TYOUR STOMACH CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILNESSES. TIPS FOR TRAVELLERS TO UK FROM ANY OTHER PART OF THE WORLD ...AVOIDE TOAST BREAD OR WHITE BREAT AND BE VERY PICKY ON BROWN BREAD TOO IN SHOPS...UK BREAD CONTAINE LOT OF ADDITIVE INCLUDING HORMONS DISRUPTORS AS WELL EMULGATORS SO YOU WILL LAND IN EMERGENCY ROOM WITH TORTIONS AND LOOK LIKE POISSONING BUT BLOODWORK WILL LOOK FINE SO THEY WILL LEAVE YOU NOT ATTENDED PROPERLY FOR MANY HOURS. IF YOU EVER IN ON LINE RECEIPIES FIND WORD"MILK"AS ADD ON TO BREAD - THAT MEAN NOT A MILK MILK BUT A LUCKWARM WATTER WITH STARTER OF YEAST- IF YOU MAKE YOUR OWN YEAST FROM SCRATCH THIS WILL BE YOUR 7 DAYS YEAST WITH LUCKWARM WATER. YOU DO NOT ADD MILK TO BREAD MAKING AS ITS SLOWING DOWN GROTH OF YEAST AND WATER CANNOT BE HOTTER THAN 32-25 C FOR DOUGHT TO GROW TALL . HOPE THIS HELP FOR SOME TO BE MORE EFICIENT IN PROCESS AND STOP DESAPIONTMENT IN SIZE AND STOP COMPAIRING WITHOUT RESPONCE WHY. START MAKING DOUGHT AROUND 12/00 BCS IF YOU NEED KNEED IT 2 TIMES LAST KNEED WILL BE 24.00 THEN LAST PROOFING BEFORE 5AM -6AM AND TEMPERATURE IN ROM THEN RAISING . YEST ALSO LIKE UV LIGHT AKA SUN SO BACKING BETTER WHEN TAKEN OUT OF OVEN COOLING ACCORDING TO ROOMS TEMPERATURE SO NO NEED EXTRA TOOLS TO KEEP IT FRESH. IN UK ROOMS GETTING VERY COLD IN WINTER SO ITS HARD DURING NIGHTS TO KEEP THEM RAISING WELL ..THIS IS WHY BREAD MAKERS ARE VERY POPULAR HERE.
I made this recipe today in my bread machine. This is absolutely the BEST loaf of bread I have ever made in the bread machine! Thank you!

For a 1 lb loaf:

You are so welcome! Yes, please try those buttery rolls! They are sooooo good!! I totally recommend those. Family favorite for sure!
So this has been my go to recipe since I’ve started and just awesome. I will say that I had much better results with bread flour. But I have a question, can you put two of these in the oven? Like if I get another bread machine lol
I started selling this bread to people I work with then with people that live near by.
@@RobynOnTheFarm ❤️❤️❤️
I’ll be making your pumpkin bread tonight 🤗
@@RobynOnTheFarm when you can, could you refer me to the videos in which your using Bosch mixer? Sure would appreciate it
I sure hope you liked it :) Thanks so much for trying my recipes! I love that!
Hi from Idaho again. I just realized we’re practically neighbors. Lol.
Yes! That’s awesome! We’re from Georgia but in Utah part time for work and my daughter is in college in Utah!
How do you store the bread to last longer? We are only a family of 2.

I'll be sharing more soon because I love rolls! Good luck with your new bread flour-I definitely prefer using bread flour when it is available. Let me know what you think of it and how your bread turns out with it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I appreciate it.
Can you use regular bread recipes in a bread machine?
Yes you can! If you have a 2 lb capacity bread maker, you’ll want to stick with recipes that aren’t more than about 4 cups of flour so it doesn’t overflow or rise too high in your machine (thats about 2 c for a 1 lb and 3 c for a 1.5 machine). And you’ll want to put in liquid ingredients first, followed by dry, and usually yeast on top. Thanks for this question!
Mine.never rises that big in my Panasonic bread maker
Did you do a double mix
Hi Glen, no I didn’t. Just a basic white cycle for the one made completely in the bread machine and a regular dough cycle for the other one. I’m guessing the difference in rise between ours may be due to a difference in yeast or flour? Thanks so much for watching and being here.
I made this bread again today in a different bread machine, and realized my bread machine loaf pan is shaped very differently than the one I used in this video--maybe that made a difference for yours? I used a longer loaf pan today, so it was longer and less tall, and made me think of your comment. Just a thought! Thanks again for watching Glen.
What temperature do I cook this on? 350?
Yes! 350 degrees for 30 minutes!!
@@RobynOnTheFarm , thank you!😬
You’re welcome! Let me know how it turns out! I love that bread!
Thanks, I'm going to try it today 😊
Ronda, I’m so glad! I hope it turns out great! Thank you! ☺️
I did it! It's a wonderful bread. I have to say the shape needs more practice. 😊 thanks
Yay! I’m so glad you made it and like it! That is wonderful news! Thanks so much for coming back and letting me know! That really brightened my day!
Can I use those for a 3lb bread machine???
I have only made these in machines with 2lb loaf capacity, but I think this loaf would work just fine in a 3 lb machine because it makes a large loaf! Thanks for watching and for the question!
I couldn’t get over the size of the flour and sugar and things that she used. If your bread turns out, I might have to buy a big sacked like that. L O L
Marie, You’re going to need big sacks of flour and sugar like I use once you start making bread all the time! 😀
Where do you get that flour?
Lehi Mill Flour: amzn.to/3ThVJde
Here is a link to the flour I use! It is sold in 4 2 lb bags. It is really excellent flour, the best I have ever used and have always been happy with.
yea breadmachine loaves are tall alot of the times, think tomorrow use my breadmaker, miss it lol
Yeah like SO much taller, I was so surprised since they were the exact same amounts! I have no idea why I never made them to compare side by side before! I’ve been using my bread machine a ton lately-busy time of year and it is so convenient. Pull yours out!
You say to use hot water… I thought hot water killed yeast.🤔 if it is supposed to be hot, what temperature? What is too hot?
Thanks for the question Robin! You want your water to be about 105-115 degrees. Hot water does kill yeast, but I’ve heard that temperature is around 140 degrees. You definitely want it warm enough to help activate your yeast. Warm/hot bathtub water type temperature seems perfect to me. I usually just turn my tap all the way to hot and let it run a minute and it works great! Thanks again for watching and for the question to help with any confusion!
@@RobynOnTheFarm thank you for the quick reply. 😃

time for making properly good bread is 48 hours handmade version and temperature below 35 c above this temperature dough will be like a stone. its take 12 hours for handmade bread to grow then need be "proofed" mean need be mixed again gently and lukewarm water need be added ...bread machine replace all this traditional knowledge with moisture keeping, kneading and turning as well keeping yeast in perfect and moist temperature for tall and evenly mixed and moist bread. after backing put bread in cotton or brushed cotton, best is 90%linnen, clothe and wrap them loosely. i put mine in backing trays but cold ones and this wrap in big fluffy super-size towel. if your bread looks very crusty and you do not like too dry surface just sprinkle a bit of mist water and wrap them up for 2-3 hours, after this place them in wooden or aluminium container with small went, if you use wooden container remember to do not bleach them - yeast do not like them, BUT YOU MUST CLEAN WOODEN STORAGES OFTEN AND DRY THEM WELL. if you do not keep them in tip top condition your bread will be mouldy fast and you will have serious poisoning, DO NOT EAT FRESH AND WARM BREAD OUT OF OVEN OR BREADMAKER!!!
Thanks for sharing your insights.
