      Yeah we need constant elevation to be a keybind to toggle manual control on and off. Partly the reason why I avoided it up until now. I'll definitely keep using it when I play something high altitude like the F-15, I also plan on experimenting with it on the Flanker given how the TWS is so bad without manual control. I'll probably keep switching it for now though, don't imagine I'll enjoy manual playing the M2K in those close range brawls

    • @N3spresso
      @N3spresso 9 дней назад

      I have my radar tilt controls set to Alt + WASD. This can make it tricky to adjust the radar whilst manoeuvring (especially when rolled inverted). But this is also less of a problem on planes with HMD. Do note that in some planes, TWS tends to be "sticky" i.e. it follows the selected target and you can only exit this tracking by tilting the radar vertically. I find the "sticky" tracking quite annoying because I cannot scan the part of the sky I want to in TWS. I also briefly experimented with cyclic switching turned off but it's far too cumbersome.

    What chad vid. You have my sub💘Question, in examples 1,2,3 when you launched your missile it goes with its terminal tracking (when its within 16-18 km I think) and when your amraam was notched using the datalink you still kept on tracking the target? What would be the tips for defending from that? Notching will help to defeat the missile but how do you counter TWS? Will chaff help?

    • @MiGanFox3
      @MiGanFox3  9 дней назад +2

      The mechanics of the datalink is explained in the voiceover, the missile is switching to IOG+DL when it doesn't shut off the PD filter but loses track due to the notch. The missile in this state is not seeing chaff because the PD filter is still active (The most common reason it does not shut off the PD filter is due to ground interference, hence why my examples are all top down attacks)
      Defending this depends on the situation, if the missile is far enough away you should counter fire to force the launching aircraft to break his datalink to defend your missile. You can also try to notch the aggressor aircraft as that is where the guidance is coming from, you will have to adjust after to notch missile though as you can only notch one at a time
      If you watch all the examples the reason they all die is because they eventually leave the notch and the missile re-acquires them, it is able to do so because my DL kept it on target. But it is a bad position to be in if the aggressor is not under pressure and above you, realistically this is one of those positions you should avoid being in as best you can (don't go low when people are still above you if you can avoid it)
      Sorry for the essay lol 😅

    Data link is basically giving them a dilemma. If you notch the missile you’re not notching the airplane. Is this the same for the Phoenix at long range?

    • @MiGanFox3
      @MiGanFox3  10 дней назад +1

      Phoenix/Fakour is slightly different, as far as I understand it their seeker cannot switch from PD HDN. So when you notch it will always switch to IOG + DL, so it's important you defend a bit more aggressively with altitude variations to get out of the IOG

    • @MiGanFox3
      @MiGanFox3  10 дней назад

      Yes it's not exclusive to the F-15, Flanker is obviously harder and you will need to manually control the TWS given it does not follow your soft lock like other radars

    • @SkullH4T
      @SkullH4T 10 дней назад

      @MiGanFox3 i havenot played the sm lately but I think it does if you use a manual selector for the radar instead of the switch between targets button.
