Hey thanks for the video! I'm having issues with this exact setup being too quiet and having a lot of background hiss. Your audio does not seem to have such problems!! So I have several questions: You mentioned powered mic gopro audio setting in the comments, is this powered or powered+ you are using? Are you using the option of "raw audio" (in protune) at all? In this video did you post-process the audio in any way? (compressor, normalizing, noise reduction, EQ, etc). For me on any Gopro 7 audio setting (standard, standard+, powered, powered+) results in quiet audio and a lot of background hiss even with max gain on the rode.
Thank you. I am using regular powered mic and Rode Wireless Go at the highest db setting. I did not process in this video at all. Do you have a sample video? Send me a message on FB or IG and let me check out.

You're welcome. I skipped the DJI Osmo Pocket because it is not rugged enough for my usage. May I ask you if the wireless go can attached on GoPro 5 and 7 with its regular skeleton case or do you need a special media mod to attach the receiver? Thanks.
@@mrheng562 yes thank you and if I get the go II meaning I have 2 receivers I can use each on a go pro and if I shot from both at once or one at a time time it will capture the audio from the transmitter that I’m wearing?
I'm happy I found your channel! I really liked this video! I'm trying to figure out how to get decent audio filming my two wild children running around outside with a GoPro Hero 7 Black. Fishing, sports, outside games, etc. Any advice would be appreciated!
My best advice is to get he GoPro7 as close to the source of the sound as much as possible. The other thing is to avoid sound that is competing against sound that you’re trying to record. Like, don’t try to interview someone while the fan is going, music playing, and so on. I’ve been very successful with recording in the wind by keeping the GoPro7 about 2 feet away from my face and speaking directly to the GoPro7. Avoid turning your head and speaking, but speak directly to the GoPro7. The GoPro7 is has the best audio thus far from any of the previous GoPros.
why the app and device did nto have BT mic/audio built in. Can use A BT mic with your phone video recording with an app;; but must buy another box for ext audio for the action cam ??
ed.G. Hansen , to my understanding, BT mic is starting to emerge. However, BT do not have a long range connection and possible cannot be as reliable as the 2.4GHz frequency. I could be wrong, because maybe there’s a better, updated, version of BT I am not aware of.

@@mrheng562 I see some people using the Wireless Go with the Zoom H1N when they film with the GoPro, what's the difference between this setup and just using the GoPro & Wireless Go? 🙂
Sheena Lim , Zoom H1n is a dedicated audio recording device with very rich audio recordings. However, you will need to lug it around if you’re vlogging. Also, you’ll have to synchronize the video and audio recording in post. It’s time consuming, but the audio sounds amazing when done correctly. I know right?!!! It should be about half the cost. Anyhoo, I’ve seen many posts that people are having a hard time buying one now. My prediction is that they will build in an audio input into the next GoPro. What you do you think?
Yes, but you missed the point. You have to stay close to avoid signal drop. Notice how far I was when I had my back to the camera before it dropped. That's the key to understanding how to maximize its use in the field. Staying close will work even if there is no line of sight.
And that's why I have my Sennheiser AVX. Knowing the limitations of equipment is part of being the professional, yes? LOL!!! I don't think the Rode Wireless Go is meant for professional use, although in some cases you could. It's a good enough solution at an amazing price point for the size and features. That mic adapter is highway robbery. Can’t make myself buy it😂😂
I know right?!!! It should be about half the cost. Anyhoo, I’ve seen many posts that people are having a hard time buying one now. My prediction is that they will build in an audio input into the next GoPro. What you do you think?
MrHeng562 I agree. Not only will GoPro 8 have it included, but the new Dji action Camera will have it included as well.
Let's hope the DJI pocket will have it too with a tripod mount. :)
Good energy just like me haha
Can I give you a hug too?!!! I need some of that energy right now. Things have been kind of low in life lately. 😔
@@mrheng562 cheer up brother no need for hugs just get into sound therapy and meditation, check in your city sound baths with quartz bowls

សួស្តី = Hello!!!
Limitations -- that is a major limitation -- you had no audio -- that sucked -- true or false? True
Yes, but you missed the point. You have to stay close to avoid signal drop. Notice how far I was when I had my back to the camera before it dropped. That's the key to understanding how to maximize its use in the field. Staying close will work even if there is no line of sight.
@@mrheng562 3-4 meters, just not enough for "serious work". Vlogging, OK.
And that's why I have my Sennheiser AVX. Knowing the limitations of equipment is part of being the professional, yes? LOL!!!
I don't think the Rode Wireless Go is meant for professional use, although in some cases you could. It's a good enough solution at an amazing price point for the size and features. What is another piece of gear that is this capable at this price point? None thus far, but I expect to see more of this kind of tech within the next 9 months to a year at the $150-$200 price point.
