I learned that in order to maintain the correct position + torso tracking I need to be fit and mobile. It took me 5 years (in my 40ies) to actually get there. It opens whole new world of biking. Strength and mobility are actually crucial for other sports like skiing etc. No tutorial works if you are not able to move correctly.

Yes, it is an exhausting way to ride. That's why strength and mobility are so important.

So, I have an active servo mechanical suspension system with optical sensing paired with triaxial accelerometers and piezo force and strain sensors. It works pretty well unless I'm exhausted from heat or yard work.

I have to say, I have really enjoyed some of your previous videos but your tests are 10 to 11 seconds?? You should do a trail section that is 60 seconds plus

Ok. Tell ya what- next time I’m out I’ll do a longer section - I just won’t be able to film and edit. This one took me a few days just doing the one section. I’ll write down the times and post them here- fair?

Sounds good, a longer section should magnify the benefit of the better technique. You have helped me be a better rider, thanks

I think it is rather clear that torso tracking just works. Anyone can feel the difference in speed at the end of the bike park day - exhausted body just cannot track 🫠

Cool and all, but as I am pretty maxed out on what my bike can take weight wise, I guess "athletic" will not describe me very well. I am also more of a flat and rising slightly technical track biker rather than a pump/downhill track rider. Bunny hopping is not in my active vocabulary.

Hey thanks for the note. This video will help you if your goal is to rip trails fast downhill. If that’s not really your goal, no problem! The content on building core strength is what likely will be your best bet. Happy trails man !

What the heck is torso tracking?

Watch the attached video. It’s where you proactively move the torso in a way that sets you up for maximum control and acceleration working with the terrain. I explain how it’s different from pumping.

Jumping on a snowboard helps with that sort of things.
