She actually died five months ago due to complications from her Crohn's disease, so reading a comment I made about the two of us bringing in a new year together hurts a little. But even though she's gone, I'm still determined to have the time of my life as I continue to move forward without her. I miss her a lot, but she would want me to be happy, and I'm glad that I made this comment all those years ago. I'm glad that people are still replying back to it today too because it allows me to think back on good memories with a smile. Thank you and best wishes to you on this beautiful day. God bless you!

I fully understand the lyrics, in a nutshell he is struggling and although he is struggling, he is still trying to manage to go out and have a good time. Whether he's talking about picking up a girl, or going to the gas station, either way it's mainly about being happy and having a good time, which is why I enjoy the song.
