@@ProjectLabz Procaster easily. It has a warmer richer sound. Podmic is good but for the same price you can get an SM58 which is better than the Podmic.
@@TheMatrixxandRhodesShow Thank you for the reply! Made up my mind. In Australia we can get the procaster for roughly $200 Aud So its abouts $140 Usd. And if you still prefer the Procaster over the podmic then there must be a huge difference since I know its $250 USD over there. 👍😊
Here in the US, the Procaster is ~$230 and the Podmic is ~$100.... so you could pick up two of the podmics for less than the cost of 1 procaster. However, the podmic is sold out and backordered pretty much everywhere. You can place an order for it, but no clue when it'll arrive :). As far as audio interfaces are concerned, as long as you have one with a decently low EIN and a good dynamic range (i.e. 100dbA range) you really don't need to worry about a separate preamp like a CL or Fethead. So, pretty much your Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, your Behringer UMC202HD, Audient iD14 etc will all be able to drive the mics. You can certainly add a preamp or channel strip if you wish, but they aren't a necessity. The dbx 286s is a great piece of kit, giving you the real time effects processing in hardware, along with a good amount of gain from the preamp.
Thank you for this review. It really helped to decide to go for the PodMic, I wished the "big brother", but for the budget and my podcast record use, looks like it will fit perfectly.

That was a really good review. I too am looking for an alternative to the NT 1 which I love but picks up too much room noise and sometimes the guest vocal in the recording. Pod Mic certainly seems live good value!

It's a dynamic microphone and has an internal shock mount, so no, it really doesn't need it. Can help in some cases, but usually dynamic microphones aren't as sensitive as condenser ones.
@@jcstrabo Well yes and no. Some dynamic microphones have good internal shockmounts but the one built in to the procaster isn't great. I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Will it do the Podmic without any extra gear? If not, can you recommend a similar mic that doesn't need any additional pre-amp apart from my Scarlett?
@@ProjectLabz I think its fine. You have to be close to the mic. Sometimes, in videos you see that the speaker is like 30-50cm away from a mic while talking. This won't work well I think. But speaking into the mic properly will be good with the scarlett without extra pream.
