@@stevens5541 Nice bait. I've always wanted to ask someone like you why you go out of your way to visit videos just to anger the people who like them? Does it give you a thrill? Is it fun for you? Do you feel pathetic and useless, knowing that you're incapable of creating anything meaningful or worthwhile to this world?.. So instead, you choose to tear others down? How does that make you feel? Does it make you feel good?
I love the Scissor Sisters but they don't write their own songs. The 2nd album was completely written by Elton John. Top piece of songwriting though I agree, it's beautiful.
@@benbrown2281 This song was written by the Scissor Sisters. Elton John contributed to 3 songs on the second album, and this song was on the first album.
I love that bit where she's in the subway and she closes her eyes, always thought that was so beautiful. I can almost feel the wind.. and her sadness.. 💙 beautiful song and video..
This song makes me so sad. Its about Jake's best friend who died a couple of years after this song was released. Its a beautiful song in its own right, but the tragedy of what happened makes it heart breaking and almost difficult to listen to.
You could have one day pure and simple happiness. Until that moment comes I’ll be there like I always been, I’m gunna be your friend until the day i die. The lyrics are beautiful in this song. Love the sax at the end. I relate to this song so much. Such a underrated band ❤️❤️

This video touches something in my soul that makes me feel unsettlingly caring, although I don't know why or whom. Something in the video makes me feel really sorry about Mary and all this dreams she is having, like if we were talking about a dear friend recently deceased ( please, I hope not...)
2004 on #mymusicalroadto50 Scissor Sisters - Mary There weren’t many songs from this year that I really remember. Things were moving in a different direction in the music world and the TV driven talent shows were now a regular thing. However I do remember this one. For some reason it didn’t seem to be played very much. Probably because it didn’t hit the top ten. I could also relate a bit to Mary, the monotony of each working grey day. Doing my bit to keep the wheels of slavery, I mean industry, going. Trying to decipher a way out from the depths of a coffee cup.

I honestly felt this song was Elton John-esque writing when I first heard it, and the fact that it is timeless proves just how good the writing was.

The delayed electric piano with the "whoa-oh-oh" still floors me. What an incredible hook.
YES
Agree! The Rhodes Piano gave this song an excellent atmosphere!
