- I've been looking forward to this Psalm for so many reasons.
This very Psalm opened up the book of Psalms to me.
4 years ago when I gave my life to Papa, shortly thereafter He blessed me with a raw hunger for the Word. I mean, there were moments I felt like I could literally eat the pages..
I devoured the Bible from A to Z but I skipped the Psalms. They just didn't appeal to me. I don't know why..
People who've seen or read my testimony know that Papa freed me from 20+ years of severe depression and longing for death.
But, especially in the beginning, the enemy came knocking once in a while, see if they could steal my peace and joy.
In the Summer of 2021 I woke up feeling 'heavy'. And I was instantly reminded of the 20 years I lived under this cloud of gloom and darkness.
It gave me a brief scare..had the depression returned?
Like every day I started by reading my Bible.
I asked the Spirit what book He had in mind for me. He answered Psalms. And I was like, are you kidding me, on a day like this?
Reluctantly I cracked open the book of Psalms. I started reading Psalm 5: "Oh Lord, hear me as I pray, pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help".
As if somebody turned on the lights! This guy is feeling just like me! It turned out to be David, and from that day on he and I became best friends. He gets me. I love this guy. I love his raw honesty.
I began singing this Psalm, it's the song you're hearing now.
I felt known, heard, seen, loved.
This Psalm ends with "surround me (them) with your shield of Love".
My blanket of death, replaced by His shield of Love. That still moves me every time..
Till this day I pray "and surround me with your shield of love".
Are you (or do you know anybody) struggling with depression, anxiety or suicidal thoughts? Sing (or send them) this Psalm. Let Him hear your cry. He will embrace you with His love.

I dealt with the same as you, until Jesus freed me from depression, anxiety attacks and suicidal thoughts. Through loving Him and worshipping Him daily, living for Him and reading His words and listening for His spoken words, He healed me too from that and some physical ailments. Hallelujah!! 🥰🙏✝️🙌🕊️🎉

Remember always to cast your cares upon Jesus and then trust him for whatever it is you're praying for. Doesn't mean you stop praying, peace will come to you once you trust Him for the outcome.

Amen. The Spirit is speaking to me too about the importance of fighting in prayer, not only for our needs, but above all for the glory of the Lord to be manifested.
I was very struck by a phrase from Brother Watchman Nee taken from the wonderful book "The Prayer Ministry of the Church" (Sorry, this is not the original version, I have translate from the book in Italian that I am reading)
"We must stand with strength, power and firmness on our position in Christ and we should pray according to the victory of the cross... and we must remove every space for the enemy so that we can protect our position in prayer... Brothers and sisters, if our prayer wants to be according to the will of God, we must persist in our prayer until the end."

My husband had a stroke nearly two years ago. He’s been bitter and very difficult ever since. He seems to be angry with God. I want to give up so many times but I remember how God kept telling me to love my husband for over a year before his stroke (we were struggling with our relationship). The Father has a plan, but I struggle with hanging in there because my husband can be hostile and it’s not good for our children (19, 18, 17, and 9). These songs help me through this storm.

I think Psalm 5 is beautifully composed in this clip. I found out about the existence of loveproject through youversion. And yesterday I listened to several songs all day long. And I shared this with a friend of mine who has been struggling with depression since she was 11, and she is now 32 years old. She has developed complex PTSD, social phobia and various addictions. Intellectually she believes in God, but her heart is so deeply damaged that she can no longer pray. I'm so hoping for a breakthrough in her life. And if God has drawn you to Himself with cords of love, I desire the same for her.
