Intriguing. The bass driver arrangement reminds me of some omni directional designs and I guess this dynamic mode tweeter-midrange is some kind of cross between coaxial and ribbon? I love when people are creative like this, finding new ways to get more out of clever ideas that never became mainstream. QA's done it before with the D'Appolito arrangement on their conventional speakers (tweeter between two midrange drivers). They made it their own and others have now followed yet not very long ago I think only Mission were doing it and were considered quirky.
I've been anticipating for some time that QA is going to start rising in price - they have been phenomenally good value till date while building up a following and brand reputation. This I think is the start of that; because by their old pricing convention I'd have expected this to be $1000 but its 50% more. Still good value but no longer phenomenal.

Q Active includes time delay circuitry that digitally delays the signal reaching the BMRs, keeping the sound from the front mounted BMRs and the rear mounted subwoofer precisely time aligned. Balanced Mode Radiators have a number of benefits including super wide dispersion for a panoramic sound stage and seamless mid-range performance resulting in no mid-range crossover distortion. They are particularly suited for use in active speakers.

One thing jars in the video that I forgot to mention. Why not colour code the hub with the speakers?
@@RasheedKhan-he6xx Hi there, the control hub is a wireless slimline module designed to be placed out of sight around the back of televisions or in TV cabinets and we felt that a black hub would be more discreet in those locations.
d'appolito array was used frequently by Icon Audio, ProAc, Fyne Audio, Tannoy Mercury and Eclipse, Neat, Amphion and Quadral.
Acoustic Energy as well and even much, much earlier than QA.
@@marksolstafir agree (although how Fyne made your list I'm not sure, that's a pretty new company). But still niche and in the minority, not mainstream. There's some pretty harsh criticism of D'Appolitio in the literature, like the Wankel rotary engine, not every attempt succeeded.

Sound quality wise, would you say they are comparable to your Concept 300 or something else in your line?
I want to like the look of these but i just can't bring myself to it... it looks as if they're facing the back wall with the back ports looking at us. Do appreciate you taking chances and trying something new thou!!! I hope these sound great. thanks
They look good, but 2 questions. 1. When you say Roon; are they RoonReady or just using Chromecast? 2. Is there a display to see the volume level without opening an app? Thanks
Hi, thanks for your question. In response to your questions: 1. Yes they are ‘Roon ready’. 2. There is no volume control display on the Speakers or Hub themselves.

The pricing is similar to other wireless active systems from the likes of KEF.
I just looked. Insane at $2k. I just built a raspberry pi 4 music server with squeeze server 8 for just $550, including a pair of Q acoustics 3020i speakers and that does everything this does. Look up Max2play

The q acoustics logo should be in the middle or at the back. The grill should be white too. Class D is a real downturn. Remote control handset is a plus. BMR drivers are very interesting.
Yup they really make nice speakers but haven't figured out how to not make their branding look cheap. Class D isn't a turn off for everyone. Try listening to a Marantz PM 10.
So... I used to have one mains power cable and a tiny wire connecting amp to speakers and now I'll have three 220v mains cables... I am not sure it's a neater solution.

Hi, thanks for your question. The hub connects wirelessly to the speakers over a dedicated 5GHz digital link. This is designed with super-low latency to ensure left and right channels stay precisely in step for a stable stereo image.
The idea of these seems great, looking forward to hearing some reviews, just bought some 3030’s for my tv/hifi setup but I definitely would have considered these instead because of the e-arc functionality. Seems like the black is much more slick than the white since everything is color matched. The white should be completely white and not have an off color grill... also, why couldn’t the streaming box be color matched? (I do concede that black may fit more discretely into a system)

Active speakers are not going to be replaced.
We launched them a year ago. The $500 off promotion is for introducing people to the new active range and it is going to end end of this month.

Does one need a sub for this system or the inbuilt sub is good enough for movies. Want that sub-base low end. 😊
A sub is always better for movies. if you can afford it, get 2 subs! trust me, it's worth it.

Can the hub work with more than 1 pair of speakers for multi-room use
Hi, you can use up to 3 pairs of Q Active speakers as a multi-room setup on the same wi-fi network. Each pair of Q Active's comes with (and needs) its own hub. Q Active can also be integrated into your current multi-room system (using Spotify, Roon Music, Apple Airplay 2, Google Chromecast Built in. I hope this helps?

lol, this is the complete audio system in a speakers. Building a separate system with many boxes is more expensive, cables themselves can costs 100-150 €, and you will need lot of them (speker cables, few interconnects, USB, power cord to the source, power cord tot he amp (this one can be expensive) etc)
You should always in the Bach...never in Debussy

They're rubbish please don't believe the crap. If you like ordinary with lot's of options then buy these if however you do want a really good speaker look elsewhere and don't waste your money
Why do you say that? I love the functionalitys with the apl and futur proofing with hdmi arc , but i primarily listen to techno and trance , i wanted active speakers though so i was planning on getting these
