Not many people left in this World like that anymore..I'm white but I thank my God I grew up on Black Gospel Music..I was blessed to have lived around alot of dear Godly Black Folks.. I'm going on 70 and what's left of us? We are still Friends and still Marching to Zion.. Thank God..Got my Start in Anderson Indiana's Westside Jackson Park...

My pop's said when he played with them on shows back then, she was the show stopper. He said Cheeks was one of the only big groups that had female members and they could sing & play you right out of town! :)

I DID SOME RESEARCH ON HIM AND FOUND OUT HE IS KEITH WONDERBOY JOHNSON'S GRANDFATHER THAT'S WHY THE REMAKE OF HIDE BEHIND THE MOUNTAIN, ONE VERSION BY EACH OF THESE GREAT SINGERS. ALSO REV. JULIUS CHEEKS SANG WITH THE SENSATIONAL NIGHTINGALES AND A COUPLE OF OTHER GROUPS

All I can say is wow
This group is fantastic. I thoroghly enjoyed their energetic rendition of that old classic. In my opinion this ensemble is second only to The Swan Silvertone and The Harmonizing Four of Richmond, Va....but that was a good effort.

The church I attended in Atlanta last Sunday (June 30, 2013) had a female pianist and she was awesome. When they sang "Lift Him Up" for Devotions --it was great to be at a church that still does DEVOTIONS-- that woman was tearing it up! It's like they pulled her from the 1960's and fast-forwarded to 2013.

I came across this music doing some casual research on Arizona Dranes, the Pentecostal musician who is credited with taking boogie woogie/barrelhouse style piano blues and fusing it with gospel. Interestingly enough, Jerry Lee Lewis calls his style a boogie woogie style rock n roll.
The answer now is, UNFORTUNATELY, NO! It was unexpected and since "Lift Him Up" is one of my absolute favorites, I was caught up in the moment. I did tell my buddy when I come back to visit his church, I will put in a special request, so that I could record her (if she's willing). Lawd, she made that piano talk!
