I think the focus wasn’t on the fact that Mel “lost” to Em, it’s that Em has constantly given props to the OGs and certain OGs (like Mel) try to discredit Em’s talent in the game. So naturally Em snapped back.

Exactly, not sure why anyone is focusing on the "battle", it wasn't even serious from either side, or at least how it started was not so much battle as Mel melle badmouthing in interviews, and Eminem responding to that. Not sure how that is a battle. Second, whatever came from it was laughable, only thing that resulted from it was embarrassment and it makes more sense to laugh than to have a serious discussion about any sort of "battle". Same goes for most people who went at EM in modern times, maybe with the exception of MGK. At least it was more serious, and both sides took real shots, even if I personally don't find MGKs attempt impressive, I know a lot do so whatever.
what the hell is this ems tallent everyone talks about.. literally 85 percent of this mans catalouge is bail out lines in madlib form. rhymes lead him... he doesnt lead rhymes if that makes sense. the whole challange the entire challange of rhyming is for you to lead your rhymes. so yes he has had some nice punche lines in that. wich is the only thing that keeps him from being a complete joke to me. because he does have solid punches hes thrown into that wierd al goofy bullshit. but peoples failure to really break down his rap style. is disapointing to me. wordyness doesnt equal skill. and so many solid rappers sweat him .. its crazy to me

This is an interview that I didn't think of or ever see coming. It's much props to getting Bobby Simmons on the show, he was literally the only other avenue I had besides video music box to see the newest music videos. When I was a kid. We didn't have cable so I didn't have your MTV wraps or Rap City on BET... I had video music box and occasionally a VHS at my brother would buy from Jamaica avenue and bring home with bootleg versions of the latest music videos. My first time seeing the first Lost Boyz video lifestyles of the rich and shameless was on Bobby Simmons. I believe my first time seeing broken language by smooth and trigger was on Bobby Simmons... Master IC by Mike Geronimo I believe was also on Bobby Simmons and if I'm not mistaken Give up the Goods and Shook Ones... I'm sure they were countless others, but Bobby Simmons was my bridge into watching videos for some of my favorite songs at the time and I'm so grateful for him and his hard work.
He put up with a lot, I remember watching the show sometimes and being highly entertained by him and his jodeci Casey & Jojo parody... One of the best moments in television history, I was talking about that video and the movie Magic it took to make that with all my friends. I used to hate when people would call up and start talking to him and start cursing him out, I hated that because I feel like he was doing such a good service for the community, me being from Jamaica, Queens and being so into hip hop and into the culture and then to have a dude on a free station on my TV showing me all the videos to all my favorite songs was a blessing so for people to call up and disrespect him really hurt my heart cuz I thought he was a good dude. Anyway, I'm just glad that he's been remembered by my expert opinion and brought up here to talk about his career, that's really dope and I got to give props for remembering him and what he's done for the culture.
I want more Super surprising interviews like this one. People who weren't at the forefront of the evolution that hip-hop but was back there doing the hard work and pushing the buttons to make the culture move forward. I don't get that. Melle Mel is one of the founding fathers of hip hop, without him there would be no Eminem, or anybody else for that matter.
Bobby Simmons should start his own podcast similar to Joe Rogan, DJ Vlad, My Expert Opinion, Art of Dialogue, etc and just call it “Flava Videos”, old school name recognition.
