The DVD from viavision is the best physical release but there are bootleg Blu-rays floating around

There is a director's cut of THE KEEP: the novel by F. Paul Wilson.

it is a really good novel... and different enough to be quite a decent vampire story, quite apart from the usual Dracula style. but i can see why Michael Mann chose to divorce the aesthetic entirely from the Victorian/gothic approach and come up with something wholly original.

@@CollectorCreations well that's a crying shame cos that's three good films out of the gate...and you'd hope he at least got into exec/producing a bunch of similarly talented people. i'm always interested in people who directed one and only one film. done and dusted for whatever reason...be it death, disaffection, or total disinterest. Charles Laughton. Doris Fish. Rufus B Seder. Walter Murch. but any small, brief career does seem to belong to a special kind of film maker. some folks should've stopped at one while there are others I'm glad continued.

For Kelly it’s definitely that his films were confusing to most audiences (Southland Tales being an infamous example given it’s the second half of a narrative), but his films weren’t very successful financially and outside of Donnie Dark they weren’t critically regarded either. There’s a list of reasons why Kelly career died and that only scratches the surface.

Let's get Harry Directed by Allan Smithee. I like this movie it's actually not that bad. I think viavision recently released it. You just reminded me to get a copy of The Keep.

ive got a DVD copy and its abysmal! it has the Australian ratings symbol of "M"(for mature audiences) on the front. whatever you think about the film (and i like it!) this should never have been released in this poor form. it feels like some illegal download, or they set up a video camera and filmed it badly off the tv. but just checking on Amazon there's a copy with the Australian "MA+ (restricted)" symbol and includes Scott Glenn and Alberta Watson's names above the title. Reviews seem to suggest this is a much better copy but still way below standard. another of the "M" rated ones says it remastered but no one seems to be able to speak of this, and the only run time seems to be 95 minutes.

Yes we have large classification labels on our releases, and they’re ugly and annoying. But the DVD release of The Keep is the best you’ll get, though I don’t think it looks like a camcorder rip like you say. The 90 odd minute version is the only version of the film that exists
