I must say, this particular version of the Soviet anthem is very beautiful. The way the music is produced, the rhythm, the tone, etc. are perfect; it sort of has an eerie tone. I remember back in the early days of COVID I would listen to this anthem looped because it had a unique tune.
Call it whatever you like, but this footage shows us all what it should mean to be human. Industry, technology, healthcare, education, space travel, and the fight against evil. Braving the coldest seas and highest mountains with ease, joining together in cooperation. That’s what sets us apart. Whether you are a capitalist or communist, conservative or liberal, these are goals we all should strive for.

I was born in 1966 and I am now 55 almost turning 56, and I watched the Soviet Union Fall. My wife was born in 1974 but she never had a TV yet. It's been 31 years
I had a teacher who was very kind and believed in me at a time when I did not believe in myself. She had gone to Moscow state university and had completed a math degree there. I remember asking her if she had considered joining the space agency when she was in Russia because they were known for having one of the best space agencies in the world and she said "well in a way I was involved with the space agency. I taught math to a lot of engineers who went to go work for them."
I might not be a communist although fascinated by it but listening to this anthem is a sweet melody and gives me a lot of motivation every time I listen to it

My point is, that in the Soviet Union the car was more of a luxury than a necessity. My parents were workers btw, not some party member elites, as you may have thought.

The public transport was very good in all major cities in the USSR and 99% of the population relied on it. They were sometimes crowded but always very cheap and ran regularly.
Somebody i know who used to live in CCCP said they were ok but had one problem: Many had defect exhausts which made the last rows being quite literally gassed with pollution. She told me sometimes it was so worse she got dizzy from the oxides. But when you sit in the front it was all chill.

@@Spudman9 Times were people were extremely poor and didn't have money to buy cars. And if they were actually able to save enough money for a vehicle, then they have to wait 10 years in order to get it.

However, my mom didn't need it and also didn't want to study in the driving school. And public transport was (and is, tbh) really good, unlike in some European countries and USA. There you have to have a car to survive, basically.
However, now we do have a car but we needed to take a credit to buy it though. My point is, that in the Soviet Union the car was more of a luxury than a necessity. My parents were workers btw, not some party member elites, as you may have thought.
