  • I flew an Experimental version of the Cirrus Vision Jet G2+ in June 2021 before its public release (and before the FAA's approval) for one of my articles in Twin&Turbine magazine (August 2021 issue) . In addition to the flight video, we also created this one that gives you a tour of the pre-flight of the jet! We have other videos on the impressive Vision Jet G2 - enjoy.

    Good to see Rich is doing well.. still remember flying the SR22 with you back in San Diego… best from Hans Joern / Northern Germany flying the N610HR

      Hi Hans - I hope you are doing well! It was fun flying our SR22 when you were in San Diego. If you make it back here, please let me know. You never know what airplane(s) I may have at the time. We might be back in Europe at the end of the summer for biking. Rich

    Great video.
    I always check if the fuel tank vent holes, one at the bottom of each wing, are clear.

      That is a good point! Years ago I was flying our Grumman Cheetah in IMC and I saw the left wing start to collapse. I changed fuel tanks, landed, and found mud daubers in the fuel vent. The fuel pump was strong enough to suck the fuel, and the wing deformed. Thankfully I saw it quickly and it popped back up without damage. Pesky insects!

    The small metal strip on the wing isn’t a stall strip but a visual ice detector. Love the videos!

      Chris - thanks for the clarification! If you see any other issues, please let me know. I'm adding the SF50 type in January, my 9th. Rich

    Looks great i love the auto land. Go what he the VC10 doing it years ago and all the controls moving by themselves!

      Remrett - it is amazing and the auto land in the Vision Jet, while not approved for general use just emergency, is a great accomplishment by both Garmin and cirrus.

    Why does it say "Experimental" on the cargo door?

      Benjamin - I was flying a production prototype of the G2+ jet and it was in the Experimental category until production approval. Rich

    Great video...Thx. So which plane would you say is easier to fly. The Eclipse or the Vision Jet? I'm curious what you think the PROs and CONs are?

    • @PersonalWings
      @PersonalWings  3 года назад +2

      That isn't an easy question after flying 400 aircraft with 110 aircraft models :) I cover some comparisons in my Twin & Turbine and AIN aircraft articles. The Eclipse has some of the best jet handling characteristics of any light jet, and the aerodynamic performance is better than the SF50 - faster, runway performance, etc. The cabin, avionics, etc of the SF50 provide an improved experience. How is that for a balance :) . The FMS in the SF50 is superior, so overall it is probably easier to fly. Remember the SF50 was a sparkle in the eye of the designers, when the EA500 was in production! I have to do another article with a direct comparison on more facets of the planes. It would be a long one!

      @@PersonalWings Thanks for insight. I would definitely be interested if you wrote an article comparing the two.

    How do you get into the third-row seats with the center console on the second row?

    • @PersonalWings
      @PersonalWings  2 года назад

      Hi Matt - the middle seats slide forward very easily so you can enter the third row. The utility of the third row is limited. The side seats are designed for children, with a max weight of 90 lbs. The center seat is useful, if it is the only one occupied and the console isn't present - or someone is of smaller stature. I wouldn't characterize the plane as a 7-seat airplane, other than with small kids, which can be useful in limited situations. It is a comfortable 4 seat aircraft, just as the Eclipse or the 206 (which I've owned), which both have 6 seats but you would either fill those 5-6 seats with kids or cram adults in them. You also have the issue of payload (after fuel) to consider. There are a lot of airplanes with more seats than can be practically filled - except on shorter flights. For four adults the Vision has an amazing cabin and the view is outstanding for everyone! Rich

    The internet is shit, plus pricier than all get out. the highest rated that offers the most is around $3900 PER MONTH for its data plan. The cheapest it think is around $1050/ mo.

    • @PersonalWings
      @PersonalWings  2 года назад

      Marv, airborne internet is always expensive. I don't know the current price for the Vision Jet GoGo access, which is around 200Kbps. On other aircraft I fly with access it is easy to end up spending a lot of money, hence some of them have large data packages available and can easily exceed $10K/month. On one flight in the Citation X one of the passengers was streaming Netflix, I don't even remember how expensive that was. I find that using the Iridium Go or the Garmin Explorer in my airplanes is sufficient and a lot less expensive. While you only have text access, it is generally sufficient.

      Alex, that is always a consideration. Cirrus needed financial help, and China was the only option at the time and also funded the SF50 development. My understanding is that Cirrus has full decision control and without a doubt GA would not be the same without innovations by Cirrus.
