Oh, interesting. Mine came quite sharp... in fact, like I think I noted, almost a toothy grind. Maybe I gave them too much credit on their grinds if they're not being consistent. Agreed though, fun little knife. Thanks for watching!
I'm glad others are having a great experience out of the box. I need to be clear that I stropped not sharpened. Mine can easily have been an outlier. To be clear, I would react this knife to anyone looking for small knife.
@@plainscrafter5374 I'm glad you shared! It's important for folks to know what's out there. I just review the knife I happen to get, doesn't mean it's the same as every other out there, important to know if there are inconsistencies. I've had knives I needed to strop out of the box, like yours, others that were plain old dull or close to it.
I picked up a Wharncliffe version with burlap micarta scales. It’s very nice. Not quite nas comfortable as the Dragonfly I’ve carried for years, but I finally have a viable 5th pocket alternative.
Bought one based on your Top 10 Small Knives review and liking it. Great fidget knife. Would have been nice if they matched the back spacers to the thumb studs.
FWIW, I'd picked up the new Micarta Baby Banter last week; it's pivot doesn't sit as proud as the one in the video. I have the DF2, as well. Don't have any real complaints. I like having both. The Baby definitely wins if fidgeting is a priority.
I think a D2 squid would be an interesting comparison to the baby banter. Both drop points. Very close blade size. Thumb studs. Price is in the same ballpark.
Interesting comparison idea. I would agree the blade shape is quite similar as are other specs as you noted. I don't have my D2 Squid anymore, but I'll ask around, could be a fun comparison. Thanks much!
Any thoughts/comments on this vs the Kizer Yorkie? The Yorkie has a higher end steel...and of course a higher end price though Black Friday sales are starting!
I don’t own a sub 2.5 inch locking knife. I was looking at the Giant Mouse Riv but it’s $200 and the blade stock is thicker than I like for a tiny knife. The Baby Banter might be worth a look. Then again, I found the Civivi Pintail to be right on the edge of too small for my hand. These knives are much smaller. 🤔
I've gone back and forth on the Riv as well. Yeah these are definitely small... but sometimes I like to have something on the smaller side and light just to throw in the gym shorts, backpack whatever. Thanks for watching Nick.
The dragonfly doesn’t get enough credit for its dominance in this size bracket. BUT, this baby banter fixes the 2 issues i had with my dragonfly: weird amount of handled that sticks outta the pocket and, its a lockback (im a fidgeter lol) great review! Just sold my dragonfly so might have to get this
Great comment! I completely agree. I'm a fidgeter myself and it's why I have so few lockbacks or slipjoints in my collection. I still do like my Dragonfly, but I've definitely found myself reaching for this Baby Banter a lot lately when I'm looking for something small and light. Circle back if you pick one up, love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks very much for watching!
@@mildmannerededc No doubt! Just ordered one. My dragonfly was my ideal/go-to US travel knife but I just lost the enjoyment with it after a while because of the lockback and carry. I'll keep you posted!
I'm a Dragonfly fan too and this Baby Banter offers a really comparable alternative. In some ways it's just an easier carry than the Dragonfly, if that makes sense. Thanks for watching!
There is a G10 dragonfly. Steel liners, and it weighs 2.0 oz as well. I’ve got one and it’s fantastic. And made in Japan instead of China. But it’s double the cost of this civivi baby banter and only comes in foliage green with satin blade. And the action is stiffer than the FRN dragonfly. Smooth, but stiff. So I can see the appeal of this little guy. I might pick up one myself. Civivi hasn’t let me down yet.
I regret selling my g10 dragonfly that I bought in 2012 for 83 bucks (they’re like 122 nowadays). The baby banter might fill that void for much less money
No doubt, it's a Dragonfly killer. Much cheaper, much better materials. I would argue that Nitro-V is > Spyderco's VG10. I will admit that I do, slightly, perfer the Dragonfly ergos.
I think I tend to agree... I know you can get fancy Dragonflies, which is a fun aspect of Spyderco, but the Baby Banter definitely out classes the standard models. Nitro V, in my opinion, is a definite upgrade from VG10 or even CTSBD1N for that matter. Dragonfly remains a slicey little bugger though. Thanks for watching!
How fun, a RUclips grammar troll! I'll let you do the Merriam-Webster jive to fact check yourself on acceptable pronunciation, spelling, etc. The sharpness of the blade will, alas, remain a mystery.
Definitely loved the fact the finger choil was added to the design! Thanks for the look Brad!
Agreed! Makes it way more usable. Thanks for checking it out JB!
I like this one a lot. Thanks for the review!
Enjoying my Baby Banter after the first couple of days. I needed to strop mine, but it is a great small knife. Great review.

I'm a Dragonfly fas too, this one is definitely a great comparable. Thanks for watching!
Such a good looking little knife. I love they went nitro v. Great review 👍
I just received mine today and it appears they have fixed the domed pivot 😁
Ha! Well look at that... I'll pretend it was because of me, lol!! I hope you're enjoying yours! Got mine in the pocket today.

"short list..." Good one!
@@tincansailor9437 haha. I didn’t mean to make a pun. 😆

Got this for my daughter but she ended up not liking the blade shape. I'm thinking I might "forget" to return it and keep it for myself!

Is that a Casio wave ceptor???
Excellent eye! Indeed it is. This Casio is by far my favorite no muss no fuss bumming around EDC watch.
You might think this is a strange statement, I think the We banter is the best pocket knife made.
Another compelling competitor to the Dragonfly is the MKM Isonzo.
Yeah, I've been meaning to check out an Isonzo. Neat design. Thanks for checking out the review.

Made in China vs made in USA?
Which knives do you mean? The Baby Banter is made in China, the Dragonfly, at least the the one I featured is made in Japan.
The dragonfly is much better. Plus k390 steel.
