Exact same principal, when the hook starts for the 2nd time drop the down beat at the start of the next song, when the hook ends you cross fade to the next song perfectly timed. Sometimes you need to drop the downbeat when the hook repeats it all depends on bars but easy to work out as you practice. I will try to do a video tho
❤❤ could you do private coaching, if so where are you based? I’m a a year into being a TikTok reggae dj and I’m doing ok almost 20k followers BUT I trained in EDM 😂 (to learn the equipment) then realise I had to undo all I knew. However, I’ve been watching many others and intuition kicked in for selection and started juggling but I use sound effects to cover my rookie fluffs 😂 thank you either way ❤❤❤
im new to mixing but learning fast. i must say after watching this video and lisening to other riddim mixes you can hear alot of djs are bad jugglers. great video and i myself learned from this thank you
ran zoth Im really sorry, 4 months later I see your comment and now respond. in general Reggae music follows the same format when built so the principles on this video will apply for songs on different riddims, keep in mind the BPM needs to match if juggling, also not everything should be mixed, cutting is also part of the craft and many song must be played from the intro for maximum effect.
I wonder if this applies to 90s dancehall stuff .. gonna try tonight. Sometimes its hard to catch the downbeat on an intro in some 90s dancehall stuff. Working on my transitions
Yea same principle, sometimes the down beat is not audible so you guess where it is, often its not a beat as in a drum sound but another noise. I'm happy to help just tell me the riddim and I might remember hit me up on instagram His Majesty Sound System
"You don't do that, because that's interruptin' this man"
100% real shit
Best video on how to mix reggae.
Could you please do a Dancehall Riddim tutorial like this. Maybe something from middle school days like Liquid, Buzz, Diwali or Fiesta.

thanks for the hints. how would you go about mixing two different riddims?
Do you have any equipment recommendations for someone starting out?
I would suggest starting by just using the free version of Virtual DJ on the laptop then move onto a Pioneer Wego controller
