    You didn’t really answer the question other than some libraries only work with the paid version...but why? What does the paid version do feature wise that the free version can’t do? I still don’t get it.

    • @Daresport
      @Daresport 3 года назад +7

      The full version of Kontakt allows you to custom edit and map multiple sounds (aka “multis”) into zones on your keyboard 🎹 midi controller. For example, say on your left hand 🖐 you want to have bass, in the middle section you have piano and right section of the keyboard you have full strings. This advantage would be faster production workflow so you don’t have to separately play and record each instrument. The free Kontakt Player doesn’t allow you to do this.

    • @Daresport
      @Daresport 3 года назад +6

      @@ZZaGGrrUzz Sound designers/Composers would use that feature for workflow efficiency. Time is money when they are on very tight deadlines and must produce results quickly for a client. $400 is a lot but justified if you’re in the industry. NI has biannual 50% off sales so it would be only $199.
      If you’re just starting out, I would start out with Komplete Start bundle (free), use the Kontakt Player and perfect your music first. Otherwise, you’d go broke pretty fast.

    i also own the version 5 (super sample player) and did'nt upgrade either,the upgrade is pricy for what it is,the only big change in version 6 is that it now has wavetable synthesis
    this is a good module for modern sounds,but i don't see the use of this for making new orchestral libraries,i can be mistaken,but we'll see what developers come up with
    as for wavetable synthesis,i have vps avenger,a incedible synth,wich far exeeds kontakt 6's functionality for modern sounds

    If youre clever enough...you can get a lot done with soundfonts for free. Kontakt is disastrously expensive. If you cannot afford it by any means. Please pick up a FREE copy of lmms and use the FREE soundfont player installed in it already. Ive done some pretty epic stuff with soundfonts. And Im not even the most experienced musician. you can tell that soundfonts still have plenty of power. Not to mention all the songs from the touhou soundtrack are made with one soundfont. The reason i mention these things is because its clear that companies like native instruments dominate the sound market. And musicians who dont want to spend all that money can turn to something free and useful like soundfonts. Not to mention...its the only way to play with sounds from your favorite video games. Plenty of games use soundfonts for their soundtracks. And their corresponding soundfonts are often ripped and posted somewhere on the internet.

    I can understand not getting access to the huge sample libraries in Player that come with Pro. Of COURSE one would expect to pay for those kinds of features.
    But what REALLY aggravates me about the Player version, is that it limits the control
    I have over sample libraries that I PAID for. Being limited in the Midi CC’s I can control, means I can’t tap into all the various expressions for those instruments - that I PAID for...
    For example, I have Session Horns Pro. I bought it. But the Kontakt Player won’t ALLOW me to do a simple gliss up (or down) more than one whole step below or above the note using the pitch wheel controller on my keyboard. So, if I want to do something like a gliss on a trombone note, sliding up from a lower 5th back to the tonic, I’m SCREWED. Kontakt Player won’t let me do it.
    It’s one thing to not give sample libraries away for free... but to not give customers full control of the libraries/samples that they purchased, that they OWN ... is bullshit.
    😡

    if I made music using kontakt player libraries, can I do whatever I want with it? for example making music for a channel that monetise it's videos? I want to make music for a youtuber as a gift using kontakt player and other free plugins but I don't want that youtuber to get copyright claimed or some $hit from native instruments

    • @AudioPluginDeals
      @AudioPluginDeals  3 года назад

      Well, NI can’t claim it, it’s sold as royalty free and you own a license of the library to use in your own tracks, including for profit. If you’re just using straight loops though, and not writing any original melody, here’s the frustrating part… NI can’t claim it, but you have no idea if any other “artists” out there have used the exact same loop, published it, and then you’ll automatically get a copyright claim on your content. This rarely happens if you actually take some time to arrange a song and just use melodic loops sparingly here and there. Percussive loops are easier to layer into a mix and rarely get copyright claims. I use phrase based libraries in my music very sparingly and have never gotten a claim. I’m only saying all of this because it does happen all the time, where an “artist” will literally take nothing but premade loops or phrases and try to pass it off as an original song, publish it, and then anyone who uses the same melodic loop from the same sample library is likely to get a copyright claim. It’s all a kind of shady and “grey”, area, honestly, and there’s very little accountability. True story: I was once demoing a Black Octopus sound pack on this channel which is just construction kits, loops, and phrases. Basically you can make an entire song with just the soundpack, though any respectable artist will have more integrity and simply use that as a foundation to then write their own material with. Anyway, I got two copyright claims for literally demoing a product we were selling. Think about that: people literally bought this sound pack, used it to create a “song” just by copying and pasting the loops, and monetized it. Then anyone who uses that loop on their channel for ANYTHING, even an informative demo, will get a copyright claim from someone who just bought the same product and did zero work of their own.
      TL,DR:
      if you use sounds like guitars and orchestras and instruments to write your own music, you’re good.
      If you use loop based material, it’s gotta be part of an actual song structure and can’t just be “copying and pasting” a bunch of loops, because I can guarantee someone else has already done it and you’ll get a copyright claim.
      Sorry for the long response, but there’s no short answer, it really is a grey area that hasn’t been addressed or moderated properly in today’s world :)
