    Loved this reaction! I'm one of those people who has watched many reactors react to The Tales--and a big reason for that is because I grew up "on the wrong side of the tracks" in a Violet and Stevie household, with two alcoholic parents, drug addiction, physical and emotional abuse, etc., etc. For me, Ren's music has been a therapeutic process that has helped me quite a bit. As you mentioned, watching so many reactions by different reactors has exposed me to lot of insights, some of which have really resonated with me. I also agree with you 100% about the importance of speaking your truth and allowing yourself to be vulnerable. Ren is a master of that!

    Aah! I saw the thumbnail, and I was like, "Nooo! Protect Dr. Lovely!!" Lol.
    I know he's tougher than that. I was the one who almost hid under my bed after Screech's tale! I was so new to Ren, and he actually scared me! But then, in my illness, I've learned that stress is one of my biggest flare triggers. Second to fragrances. I blame MCAS. The really weird thing I've learned, is that apparently my brain doesn't differentiate between stress and excitement. So, happiness can send me into a flare, too. I think learning that was the angriest I've ever been at my own body.

    • @ines_uk
      @ines_uk 29 дней назад +4

      It’s interesting and difficult to learn about your own mind sometimes. I don’t have any illness really -mentally or physically - but I’m an introvert and emotional person and it’s interesting to hear what you just mentioned. I’ve noticed that lately stress about something negative and excitement can cause similar symptoms for me as if they both cause my brain to stress. I often find hard to calm down after both and it gives me mixed feelings. I guess I analyse too much everything and it could be the reason maybe. Overthinking.

    "What happened to make this happen" ... Ren has told us. In prep for releasing Screech's Tale, he released shorts on instagram. He has now compiled them all into a short film called 'Screech's Tale Instagram Stories'. It is not a music video. It shows Screech mugging Ren for his phone. We follow Screech as he interacts with his friends, his family and the events leading up to the night he meets Jenny in the alley. It's fascinating how indepth Ren got in his character study of Screech. The boy is desperate for attention, affection, he's a bit of a bully, etc. It wouldn't require a 'reaction video' maybe but on your own time it might be something you'd get value from watching. Thanks for your video!

    The cycle of violence could have been broken with Violet if someone had taken care of this poor girl early on.
    We are not a society in which people really care and look after each other. Everyone, Official offices that come into force, is only concerned with established laws and rules, which are primarily concerned with complying with these laws and rules rather than with the well-being of the person who needs help. We have lost our humanity for the weakest in our community.
    The twins would not have had to suffer this fate either if our systems had cared intensively and lovingly for the infants after Violet's death, a caring community would never have separated the twins.
    It is clear that Ren's story is fiction, but it is also very clear that these terrible things happen and our society has a duty to care for the weak and vulnerable (incidentally, I personally believe that all the men in this story were also victims of their respective experiences that led them to these acts).
    Greetings from Germany 👍🤝🙋‍♀️

    Jenny and screech born on the same day as twins. They die the same day, one by the others hand. Violet's sacrifice to give her babies a chance. The inability of our culture to provide a healthy environment.
    Devil, the hands of fate, and the devil are to blame. Or is it us?

    Agreed. It is up to individuals within communities, and communities coming together with one another to the next larger body, etc. until we collectively decide we want something different (a cultural/paradigm shift). Otherwise, I suspect we will keep seeing more of these kinds of stories playout in real life/real time within a culture that does things to accept and perhaps even promote it. Appreciate the thoughtful reaction to this.

    Well done on such a convoluted trilogy.
    Jenny's Tale was written loosely on a story that made the papers.
    The names Jenny and James are the UKs equavilant to our Jane and John Doe's. So they were in the foster system.
    Patrick isnt home bc hes with Screech's gf who is unavailable when he calls.
    Broadening outward and looking at the effect this would have on Richard was a point often missed. Coming from a family with a lot of police background...whenever someone hits that bell, i know we're moving forward.
    As for shoulds, being tossed around in the comments ..they do us no good. They cast blame and can create shame. So what "should have happened" doesnt come into play.
    However it does bring up the issue of helping those under 18. I found in my own life and as a mother more access for help is needed.
    I really appreciate this site for working with music to open barriers for others to see that there are a myriad of ways to communicate.
    As a Canadian in a city that has banned busking, i believe this has been detrimental to our city. Our youth dont have many places to go that are on their level and interests.
    As a body language observer it looked as tho the pause button was hard not to hit. Totally understandable. Its almost impossible to go through The Tales without pausing to either take a minute, think a minute or talk for a few minutes.
    Seeing this take being used here by your office(s?) is a breath of fresh air and i am hoping others will try this also. Id love to see a "Lift" class offered especially after something like DBT that works so well.
    Some days we can lift and other days we need the lifting and that's all ok.
    I agree that Dominoes is a very good song to cover. Its about body shame or dysmorphia (sp?)
    Please keep doing what youre doing.
    Much Respect 🩷🌸🦋

    children should be taught in school what is a healthy family unit (more than one lesson ) as well as having places to go to for help and assistants, children need to be shown the knock on effect of behaviors and to take responsibility for actions. The only way to break the cycle is to start at a young age. x Its the normality of your home life in child hood that you take into adult hood.

    A possible swerve from Ren for a reaction would be another British artist taking the world by storm independently is RAYE. She puts a lot out there of her troubles and her past. Ice Cream man is a dark story but also one of strength and over coming trauma. Also RAYE is a once in a generational singer and writer picking up a record 6 Brit awards including best songwriter this year. A reaction I seen recently by a vocal coach of that song was at the BBC live lounge. However all RAYE's performances live differ and are awsome.

    Ren's not a 'survivor of violence'. This is a fictional tale. Unless you're counting his chronic illnesses as violence but violence implies a conscious agency. The effect could be very similar though. What Ren experienced and continues to experience, must have been akin to being tortured, 24hrs a day, for year, after year, after year! Not being able to sleep properly, due to the unrelenting, chronic pain, for the best part of 7 years, is just horrific! Not to mention all his other chronic health conditions, associated condtions, symptoms and the side effects of lots and lots of extremely powerful drugs, made at least 10 times worse by his autoimmunity, itself caused by MCAS!
    As for, 'how did this come to be?" Ren's pretty much told us. The ending ties it all together and allows you to fill in some pretty big blanks. Also a lot of important details tend to be missed on a first listen, inevitably and some blanks are left for us to fill in. Ren's deliberately not giving us every detail of their childhoods. He gives us just enough to make all the important connections and implications and the details he does give us, in the moment, are telling us as much about the past as the present.
    One detail that's often missed, on a first listen, is Jenny's "profession". Out late, having walked those streets "a thousand times before", in high heels, wearing rouge, wanting to "escape"... All at the age of 14... Unfortunately she did "escape".

  • @loganyarborough7783
    @loganyarborough7783 23 дня назад

    This was based on a news article where a young lady died while being mugged and a news article ended with "It's such a shame" He took that story and made a whole back story for the tales! also if you watch the part of Violets tale , when she is being beat he says she deflects the blow and you see him move as if to protect her belly. A subtle hint to her being pregnant before the reveal! His attention to detail is insane! Great reaction and much love from Texas❤

    @audivawalsh2983 28 дней назад +1

    This is the darkest of Ren's tales so far, by the way. This is the one that coined the term Bardcore and you can see why. It gets worse when you think that Jenny was 14 and wearing makeup that made Screech think she was a "lady" and heels walking "on streets she walked a thousand times before"...
    Jenny & Screech's tale was based on a newspaper story of an underage prostitute being murdered (by knife) and the 14 year old perpetrator being shot by the police on the next street. The police chief stated for the newspaper "so young, it's such a shame". Violet's Tale was written 2 years later.

    Fan theory: When Screech knocks on Patrick's door, Patrick is inside with the girl Screech calls after knocking. Ostensibly meaning that she and Patrick heard him admit to Jenny's murder. Also, the policeman Richard was able to arrive on scene so fast because he was Jenny's most recent, "client." It's strongly implied that Jenny was a, "lady of the night," - a fourteen year old, late at night, high heels, walking home on a route ("floor") she'd walked, "a thousand times before." Or maybe Richard was just meeting her to share a few caramels...it's all conjecture, but fun none the less.
