Nice. I ended up making a new ground for both the harnesses. Then cleaned the contacts well with a Q-tip and alcohol. Also while back there, replaced all bulbs with LEDs and removed that damn beeper. Just ripped it off. Then smashed it with a hammer. Then burnt it. Then buried it. Then peed on it.
I barely twisted the pins on the pack of the cluster so they looked like / / / / / instead of | | | | |. I did this over 10 years ago and haven’t had any issues since.
Which gauge needle is not correct? If its only the speedometer are you running oversized tires because that will change the speed indicated due to gear in transfer case. The fix for that is change out the speedo gear. If all of the gauges are bad your cluster might have a short circuit somewhere. Hope this helps
Did you just remove the connector bracket and drilled a screw? Or did you adjust the height of the connector then screwed in? Also about what size screw did you use? Thank you
I didn't move it much away from the original location. Need to make sure the cluster connects back to pigtails. Screws were just something I had laying around. I will say drill hole first so you don't crack the connector and use small short screws. Big and long screws will definitely break something or damage the wiring behind dash panel.
Honestly I don't remember how long the screws are. I'd guess not very long. Repair is still going strong I've had absolutely no issues with it since doing this.
My total mileage is coming up zeros across the board. I have to use my trip miles to know when to get an oil change. Any advice as to what could b wrong with my situation??
Sell it as a zero mileage jeep for millions!! Unfortunately I haven't come across this issue. I've found some xj groups on FB one in particular is a restoration group. You can join them and ask. I believe the group is named xj preservation society. If it's a bad pcm people talk highly of a company called Flashmasters for replacements. Hope your able to get it fixed sorry I couldn't ve of much help. Thanks for watching the channel!
Gota make sure the bulbs are “turned” right as LEDs only work one way. Did mine and of course had a couple turned wrong so I had to pull it back out and if you don’t use your lights a lot some of your lights will not work sumtimes
I wanted to get led but they didn't have any instock. But yes always check the lights before reassembly. The regular bulbs without the blue caps on them are a lot brighter now and I'm happy. Thanks for watching!! Have a great weekend!!
Yes its still going. Mine has had no issues since I've done this fix. I hope your able to solve your issue. Let us know what you find so others can check their own. Thanks for watching!!
I have an intermittent as well on 01 xj. Tach speedo and blinkers stop working. Airbag light comes on. But this only happens when I have running lights or headlamps on. Other than that never happens with lights off.

Until I saw your video, I wasn't sure what was wrong with wife's TJ. Once I moved the connectors, everything started working. 👍

How long are the screws that you used? And how long did this repair last you?

Mine quit working on my drive home, also the radio won’t turn back on either.
Is it still working? Mine is intermittent and I’ve tried everything. Must be a ground on mine.

Unplug air bag under seat

You need to redo your headliner...
I did. Made a video on it too.
