      ***** saw that same thing. somebody throw him at the 2 spot and tell him to put on some weight! He doesn't have that vision you need to run point at the elite level.

    1:58 - That's what made Jason Williams so great. The threat of him dishing it off to an open man in stride was so terrifying that the defender left the lane wide open for a layup.

    J-Will had those fools guessing haha...never knew what he was going to do, they would part the way for him because they thought he would pass. J-will worked half as hard as Rivers and did twice as much...great player

      He was a GOOD player the first 5 years of his career. After that he was just an average point guard. You watch him make flashy plays in a glorified rec league and you make a statement that at 40 years old he'd be in the top 20% of players in the NBA!? That's hilarious...considering he was never even an elite player in his prime. Nevermind at 40. But keep watching highlight reels and keep those stupid comments going !

  • @marcelo06

    Williams just makes basketball look so effortless... even at his age now and obviously father time has slowed him down but his skill level is so high, its like slow motion!

    A great player makes his teammates look good as well... Jason Williams had his TEAM involved... Austin Rivers tried to do everything himself(at least in this clip)...
    Even in the pros, Jason Williams was a great passer. Austin, isn't a great scorer in the NBA... I'd take an older Jason before a younger Austin...

    • @RuthlessPragmatic
      @RuthlessPragmatic 10 лет назад +1

      ***** nah he wasn't as productive as those guys. I'm saying staying in college wouldn't help him be a better nba player long term. It would've just helped him have a better rookie year. And you're right he has holes in his game he needs to work on, like his left. But in college he would've never been exposed and forced to work on them holes like he was in the nba

      @anthonystone8962 8 лет назад +3

      thats whats beautiful about the games of basketball. You can be a little bit slower and like you said not have your explosiveness, but if you have a high IQ and a sense of anticipation for what the defense is going to do, you can be a valuable player.

    I ddnt finish watching the whole thing but I can tell a lot of differences between their games/ how they play. Austin loves to dribble a lot before he takes a shot. Whereas, J Will keeps it simple and efficient. Two dribbles then shoot. Not only he gets buckets but he involves his team mates with a few alley oops.

    If J-will just had a consistent jumper and learned to managed the game like stockton he could have been one of the greats. Bibby was a better player in their primes but J-will's talent could have made him better than Bibby. Bibby just knew when to take over make crucial plays. J-will while had flashes of brilliance couldnt make the leap. But he'll still be one of my favorite players just for his pure skill.

      Austin rivers own team should be overseas cause when he steps on the floor in the nba he is easily in the bottom 3rd of the league in effort and talent ( TERRIBLE defender, low percentage volume shooter with semi-flashy handles). Jason Williams was better in the NBA than AR could ever dream of being..and shit AR is playing with a top 5 talent in Anthony Davis. Think if J Will had AD to throw oops too..would have been too scary.

    • @klintwhite9242
      @klintwhite9242 10 лет назад

      Busse John
      You clearly haven't watched him play. Firstly, he is a decent defender, not great but ok. Volume shooter, his usage rate for career is 19%, less than a fifth of the avaliable shots. His handles are also fairly stock standard.
      Is he a good player? no. Is he average? not yet. Did J Will have a better career then Austin will, probably. But please know what you're insulting before you insult it

    • @cchsjohn
      @cchsjohn 10 лет назад

      He is most definitely a below average defender. But if you want to bring up stats as far as whether he is a volume scorer or not look at his per rating ( 5.9 rookie yr and below 11 his 2nd yr, with the league average being a 12.56) this will show you that while he doesn't take many shots compared to everyone else he is highly inefficient at scoring. This is alarming because he is a shooting guard and shoots the rock around 40%. He only played so much last year because of early injuries and actually had many dnp-coaches decisions before other guards went down which should tell you how good he is for a 10th pick to not even be playing on an already poor pelicans team. Just admit he's inefficient and that maybe ppl put a little too much hype in his last name.

    I'm surprised Rivers chose to handle the ball so much. Would've thought he'd use something like this to work on weaknesses in his game rather than just playing to his strengths and using his quickness to blow by guys for a layup. He's already found out he can't do that in the NBA

    Rivers worked really hard, but JWilliams is just different. He saw the plays before they happened so he was just easy smooth with it without breaking a sweat.

    I could never figure out what it was about Rivers crossover that made it look so stiff..I thought it was something with his arms..but he doesnt really extend the ball at all

    The only difference with these two are is J-Will actually passes. If you see in the highlights J-Will made lots of great passes and all of Austin's highlights came from scoring. And on a side note J-Will crossed him numerous times.

      The difference is, Williams goes ahead and scores when he has the advantage, but doesn't hesitate to pass the ball up when his teammate has a better shot. He's just looking to get the highest quality shot and isn't as concerned with how much he scores. Rivers wants to score even if that means forcing a bad shot. It makes me wonder if he learned anything from Coach K because I doubt he thinks that is the best strategy.
