  • I had this old vinyl model before, the Revell Sonar Suit BATMAN from Batman Forever, and built it up and then have had it again to make into a pose-able figure, and never finished it. Well, out comes Hot Toys with this subject when I can't get one, SO...back to the old model, and on with the show!
And it was a LOT of fun!
Take that Hot Toys! lol! (I would get their's in a heartbeat, but hey, this will do in a pinch. Besides, he wont rot or break down, poses well, and is in scale!)
And, I might can get the HT Robin now....opens the door to us Batman collection completists at any rate.
Thank God I have the Batman & Robin statue set. Not ready to face a Clooney custom...yet.
    Addendum 7/25/22
I just saw the documentary VAL on Amazon....
Wow. I am so proud I made this figure, rather than just waited and bought one. Reason being, I spent a lot of time on this figure, and didn't know Val's history. Seeing his life on that show, stories, his brother that died, how he approached his roles, what it meant to play Batman, how hard it was, some of the things he shares in that documentary are amazing to know.
I dedicate this figure to him, and to his amazing career, and I am proud to have labored on it for his sake. It will be an even greater treasure to me from here on out, no matter what.
I hope you the viewer will stop by Amazon and see the documentary VAL and take in the life of this amazing man.
    Les

When a fan does a trillion times better job than a licensed company it genuinely blows my mind! I always had a big fascination towards the Sonar suit as a kid. Maybe because it barely had any screen time or maybe because it was the first batsuit to have a truly distinctive look from the regular “all black”. Really wish it was used more often as I can’t get enough of its design. You nailed the likeness man!

Wow! Just speechless while staring at your custom job. I honestly think it looks better than the hot toys version because of the level of details and the paint job. The hot toys didn't do so well on the paint job. Yours look not only silver but hardcore titanium armor. Like super bullet proof look. The shoulder pads look like clone troopers pads which is awesome because it's more 3D. In real life, the bat suit was extremely non-mobile and you can't even raise your arm.
I really appreciate the fact that you showed what the individual vinal pieces looks like because I have one of these model kits and it was a real pain to put together. And I forced my dad to help me at the time because I couldn't figure out how to glue the leg to the waist. LOL.
You did just an amazing job that it's worth more than the hot toys version. It just looks so strong and metallic. Congratulations! So jealous! I want your version in my collection now!

Hey, thanks so much for your kind words about what was for sure one of the hardest customs I have ever attempted! He is not easy. But, if you have the kit, you are halfway to this guy! Get yourself a Sideshow standard male body, remove any head and keep that neck intact. Lose the hands. Glue the torso at the waist, as this model isn't gonna allow for mid body posing. The rest is dremelling off excess body so the trimmed vinyl armor bits will better fit. Allow for hands (there are Bat hands out there now...) and boots (same thing or just do as I did and glue the design from the top of the kit's boots to a pair of german soldier boots). There are other things, but those are the most important. Give it a try! It is SO worth the trouble!

I get ya! I had this one when it first came out, built and painted it, with the Robin, and then sold them. Sold them! So, I got a couple more kits to try to do this very custom, and it languished for years. When made, it does make an exceptionally pose worthy figure, and this is with parts from only one kit. I did add altered Star Wars stormtrooper shoulderpads and reworked some German boots since the model boots are sort of narrow and fixed. I wish I had the means to have done an in-prog video to show what all I did, but didn't have the means. Still, as an as is built up kit it rocks, so I suggest building your's anyway, or if you are patient and feel like trying, making a figure. And the head was a lucky maneuver. It just worked out on the body I used. Then again, you can just get the Hot Toys figure and be done with it. lol! But thanks so much for commenting!

Hey DD, I JUST watched your review of the new Hot Toys figure of this very version of Batman, and could not help but notice that you were somewhat disappointed with it. It looks very cool as a rubber statue, and your video shows that, but I find it too dark and too stiff, do not like the cape, and am SO glad I just made this one and passed on it. I may get the HT Robin to go with this one... But your Batman Forever figure video, which everyone considering the Hot Toys one should see, was very thorough and I for one thank you for your honesty in it! 🤘😌

I love that there are fans of any of the Schumacher movies out there. I enjoy them for what they are, and they are often more FUN than the often more bleak modern fare. A true BatFan knows that Comic and Cinematic Batman comes in many shapes and sizes. And themes. Keeps him fresh! Seriously appreciate the comment! Means a lot to me. L

Is there a how to video to paint and assemble the figure?

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023  Год назад +1

Sadly no. It took me the better part of a month to make him. I wouldn't know how to start to tell you, other than use a Sideshow Buck body, as the model parts fit that body well. And find a nice, fairly tight fitting pleather body suit for it, one that will not break down over time. I had one for years that just stayed good and strong, so I used it. Then, to be honest, it was a one part at a time fitting ritual that took a lot of figuring out how each part would best fit in place. Lots of trial and error. It helped I had a second kit, as I assumed I would need parts from both. As it turned out, I only ever used the one kit's parts. The shoulder bells were from a stormtrooper toy, as they were the right shape and worked well on the body. The head...well, that took a lot of figuring. I almost ruined it. All I can say is, take your time, if you have the kit, get the parts, and work from the top down. Oh, I glued the waist so he wouldn't flex any in the mid-section. Helped a LOT with that armor. Hope that is any help. If I do this again, I will try to find a way to video it. (I do have photos from when I was working...maybe I can do a vid of those and explain?)
