This was indeed my Batman movie as a kid. Buying both was a no brainer. Never thought they would’ve made them, yet I’m so grateful they did.
Loved it!
Val Kilmer is definitely the most underrated. He’s not the best and definitely not the worst but because he’s in the middle he gets forgotten a lot
He's not in the middle , Keaton , Bale , Affleck, Patterson were better . Only one he was better than is Clooney

@@J0r-El Affleck was a good Batman, especially in the first movie he did , it's just a shame they gave him bad movies , but he was a good Batman . All personal preference really

@@antstockley I think he was too. You've probably heard this already that Ben needs his stand alone Batman film. There needs to be redemption because with all the effort he put into BVS, he didn't deserve bad storytelling from the studios.
I know that people have bashed Val Kilmer’s version of Batman but I’m a big fan of his take on Bruce. There’s a quiet subtlety to it that I find fascinating. I love how these figures look too but a Panther Suit figure would have been an amazing sight to see
Until they watched Clooney’s version and they said, “You know what? Val Kilmer’s version isn’t that bad.”

i never thought val was a bad batman i think the main problem with the movie for me was tommy lee jones and jim carrie, they were terrible and i always hated them in the movie, everyone else was fine imo.
@@gnome-ski Carrey saw what Frank Gorshin did and said, "I can do that times 11." Tommy Lee Jones saw what Jack Nicholson did and decided to do that dialed up and tried to compete with Carrey and hence why they both sucked in their takes on the characters, especially in Jones's case. The fact it came out later that Jones hated Carrey is even funnier.

This Batman suit still looks ahead of its time. Jose Fernandez was and still is a costume sculpting genius. Its no wonder he went on to make Batman and Wonder Woman's suits in BvS.

Batman Forever is far from my favourite Batman film, but the character designs lend themselves to Toys more than any other film. This is one of the coolest Batman figures that Hot Toys have ever released!

From a technical standpoint, the suit material will probably not hold up, the neck connector was tough to remove when posing or swapping the eyes, and not the best articulation or split-cut boots...BUT I don't care, I still love them!
Really fortunate their hands are interchangeable. The Sonar suit in particular is ripped right from the film, he shimmers so damn well.
Agreed on all accounts! These are now my 2 favourite figures in the collection. Period.

These two figures are beautiful! I have them both. I hope Hot Toys gives us the Forever "panther" suit and Carrey Joker, Returns Catwoman and Penguin, and B&R Mr. Freeze as well... those would all be exceptional figures, IMO.

you'd think that they would have shared some of Batman's accessories with poor Robin. These are a couple of very cool looking figures, those colors pop. As for Robin's "assets," I think there's somewhat of an optical illusion with the color contrast between the red and green emphasizing those said assets. 😆😉

I pretty much have the same feeling you have. I know it's not the greatest batman suit but looking at them just gives me all the nostalgic feels when I was a kid I wanted these toys so bad and was able to get robin and I remember just feeling like a million bucks when I brought him home and for this reason alone I'd would love to have these hot toys in my collection.
It makes me feel like a kid again!
I was 7 years old when Batman Forever came out. I'm not crazy about the film now as much as I was when I was a kid. As an adult, I couldn't pass up on this for nostalgic purposes and also how well Hot Toys made these figures. They look 😍 fascinating. I can't wait to have them. It looks so good that I watched the movie again and enjoyed it for what it was. It was made for kids! Might get that Batmobile too. Like you said, this was a surprise from HT. My bad for writing so much. Pretty thrilled. Great review. 👍

I’m one of those few crazy folk who only got Robin instead of both!
I’ve always been a Robin fan since I was a kid, and like you this was my Batman movie growing up. And since space is incredibly limited I am determined to have no more than one of the same character. My Batman spot has been claimed by the suicide squad version, which is just the BvS suit with some tweaks and that’s my favorite bat suit in general 😅

I have the set of these two and it's an incredible looking pair of figures. I love the movie and these two are ripped right out of the screen in their accuracy and presence. The material doesn't seem to be as fragile as people are making it out to be. I don't see any problems posing them reasonably.

Yes! I was waiting for this review! As someone who tries to only collect MCU figures, the idea of having all the different Batman live action figures on a shelf showcasing the evolution of the outfit over the decades is really appealing. I’ll probably regret not getting Throbin down the line, but right now, I only want the Batman. Plus after watching Val Kilmer in Top Gun Maverick and learning more about his condition, I wanted to get this as a sort of tribute

It’s nice to see Batman forever finally get some love. I do genuinely enjoy the movie. It’s not the best but it’s very fun and has a good story.

Love these figures. I was 11 when this movie came out and I still love it. Whatta pair from hot toys.
Also the movie was very well received and a huge hit back in the day. It hasn’t aged well and the George Clooney one almost killed the franchise lol.

Hey Justin another great review, it's not a cop out imo this suit looks great and imposing in a museum pose. Not all figures need to be in crazy poses and I'm looking forward to getting mine and posing him vanilla.

The gadget that you didn't know about is a different type of grapple gun. You see it in Batman Forever on the gadget wall when he puts the sonar suit on. I don't think it's used in this film though.
However you do see it being used in Batman & Robin. A scene where Robin and Batgirl are falling and she uses this device to save them both as Robin's failed.
It's either called the grapple pincher or Batgirls grapple.

Great review Justin, I’m gonna get both just because for one, the nostalgia of that era of superhero movies and like you said the suits back then compared to now. Two, Val Kilmer to just have something of him in the display case especially after what he’s gone through over the recent years. We probably wont get another character he played in a movie. Lastly, not too many Robins in 1/6 out there. Just a couple 3rd party and 66 version.

A bit oftrivia for those who were not around when Batman forever was released, critics and audiences considered this one a much better movie than Batman returns, it made a lot more money than Returns and sold a lot more toys so Warner Bros was very happy with Kilmer Carrey Odonnell and Schumacher

Val is the most underrated Batman ever I really liked his Bruce Wayne glad to see others do too. Amazing figure too, Schumacher's films lend themselves so well to action figures.

Another great review! That said I'm wondering, and you may have touched on this at some other point, but what do you do with all the extra accessories and boxes with all your hot toy collections? How do you store them? I've gotten to the point where I'm more interested in wonderfully detailed, poseable figures with small boxes and little to no accessories at all.

I remember the first pics of val kilmer in time magazine, you could tell by the fact that the bat symbol was displayed on the belt buckle of the utility belt that something was going to be off even though I have a soft spot for some of shots in the movie

Love the review on both Batman and Robin from Batman Forever and also the device that you're put on one of the hands on Batman I did remember the scene in the movie that launches out a net when he captures the Riddler's goons underwater and and put the net on a buoy.

Yeah Indeed because I did see the scene because batman did fire that Gadget that you have on his hand Also the other accessory that cutter You mentioned that is supposed to be the The Grapple gun that he uses to get to robin when the platform rise up When they are on claw island.

It’s not my favorite movie. But, the figures looked pretty good. They look right on compared to the movie. The look turned out great. The material used for both have some issues to deal with later. Over time there is going to be some degradation. The bending in the joints are ugly. Robin was treated badly as far as accessories. They totally ignored him. Once you set the figures up, I will say it’s definitely a win. They look great standing up.
Your reviews continue to just be outstanding. Something I failed to mention countless times before. Reading other comments I agree. Your sense of humor is something I enjoy as much as everything else. You don’t joke a lot so when it happens it always makes me laugh pretty hard. It always happens unexpectedly. I wouldn’t want to persuade you for more because it’s best when it comes out naturally. I also enjoy not having to wait forever before you do a review. You don’t ever cheat your subscribers! Instead of separating the 2 figures to do two videos you did them together as it seemed appropriate upon receiving them. You are first class. I look for every new video you do daily and have been taking baby steps catching up because you have done so many videos. I hope every person that sees your videos subscribes because you deserve it. Ah, the movie version of the Jason Todd Robin costume. Always liked it. It looks a little better on this toy than it did on film, but I'm not hating.

Cant wait to get them. Been waiting forever on these. Thay came out just as good as i hoped they would. I understand why they went with these colors for the suit. but im kinda sad they didn't do it like the movie suits with a matt finish. and batman's cape, gloves and boots needed the same color paint. On the early prototypes they got the colors right. The only thing i really dont like is the flat cheast on Robin. Otherwise these are AWESOME

One thing I wish they added was mouth plates, they do it for other batman but not this one for some reason, also they should have done what they did with hellboy and make the suit the body and not a thick suit ontop of a body, also however unlikely I hope one day we get 1/6 batman and robin movie figures, even if 3rd party

I liked Batman Forever growing up lol and I just got my Sonar Suit and at first for a split second I thought I got some rip off fake because of that bunching but yup he’s pretty limited if you want to avoid that but I found a good pose and he looks sick!

I found that one piece that you thought may be a saw or something. I looked into concept art too and this was used it was a Batarang cable he short from his wrist. The concept even says so. So there ya go lol

I liked Kilmer, but throughout the years I’ve come to actually admire his take. He was different from Keaton, but still killed it.

I think he captured both character Batman and Bruce Wayne Keaton is good Batman Clooney is good Bruce Wayne but Val is good at both
Love these figures. I bought the 5 inch two-pack of Batman/Robin. Batman looking the same as this one only with white eyes but disappointed Robin still looked different from movie. Particully the R emblem looked nothing like the movies. Always wished figures came out accurately first time but i realize now probly didnt have capabilities,etc back then like now.

Do you know if Toys wonderland actually includes the brown shipper boxes for all their Hot Toys figures? And if they do, do they actually ship the item inside a extra box, or do they just use the shipper box as the actual box used for shipping?
They do not. In HK they do not come with shippers
