I loved this video and I love Kim! He doesn't give a shit about giving what is called as a "quick tip". Learning is a process which takes time, time you put into studying theory but also time you spend applying it, practicing it and mastering it. Quick tips are just clickbait stuff that makes your brain feel good, because you "learned" something. But actually in my opinion the best learning comes from studying, and studying the artists you love. And THATS WHY, this video inspired me a lot, because I got to see this beast of an artist paint a whole character in 28 minutes! I got to observe the way he uses his brush, I got to observe how he thinks about color, and shading. And also I heard him talking about how he thinks you should approach painting. All this knowledge came by observing him just paint. And that's something I extremely appreciate and enjoy ❤ Thanks for the guys who made this video and thanks Kim for being yourself and teaching well 🙏
Tbh, a 30 minute video is pretty quick in the art world. Seeing him draw a whole figure start to finish that fast? That well rendered? Something very few artists can do, let alone have videos for.
3 things: 1. Isnt he alwaays using watercolor in a way, cuz he draws with brushpens and they are watercolor(mostly) 2. You guys are amazing ! in your last video somebody told you he would prefer subtitle and now you did that, that is very nice of you. 3. Last time i asked if you could make a video about Terada and how he draws and you hearted my comment, does that mean there will be a video about him ?
Not really, you can't really get different tones with brush pens, only wet and dry feel. In no way is using a brushpen and watercolor similar to each other. That means he actually draws with his brushpens but when it comes to watercolor its like a mix of painting and drawing at the same time.
I am glad to learn that master Kim is human made and not made from some strange alien from another galaxy! It's always fun and interesting to watch him drawing or painting in this case. I like when he uses colors, it's more lively! Thank you for sharing! 👍🙂😎
This is so awesome! I know Kim Jung Gi rather show the process than instruct how to really do it. Thank you Kazone Art for continuing to show Kim Jung Gi in action ! Love love
All this talk about quick tips. Tips are fine (even if they do result in a lot of reductive "DO [this], DON'T [that]") but nothing quite matches simply observing the magic happen. That's already a small book's worth of tips - to see where they start, where they progress, how they hold the stylus, how fast they do, etc etc... Unless there's something crucial the viewer doesn't necessarily see, like certain type of paint or baser being used, this is perfectly good! It's all there! A real treat. We're blessed. TL;DR: Basically what everyone else has said already 😄
That’s an extremely versatile brush. Kolinsky I think. Kim truly gives the materials he uses justice. Exquisite how aligned he is with his subject, just flow, no struggle. No subject. Just his extension of mind… crazy. I want to get there, one day. No struggle in materialising.
Бесподобный человек, вдохновляющий меня всегда и постоянно! Я очень рад что на нашей планете живёт гениальный человек Ким Чен Ги. Моя цель стать таким же великим художником
From what I can gather, the way he paints is actually the manipulation of the negative space, and there's a reason why I think that watercolour drawing is probably easier to the Master: he doesn't just have the white of the page. When he sketches with a pen, he is forced to add details around the form, ie the tubes and dohickeys of a suit, to create the image but with watercolour, he can just add a huge swab of paint to indicate form first, and then add details to it. It's very similar to how us plebs would use pencil to sketch out a skeleton first before adding details to it!
Lol "oh wow, I haven't used watercolor in a long time" is not something you want to hear your teacher say at the beginning of a course in watercolor lol
It seems wild at first because water moves when you're not touching it. Acrylic and oils don't do that. Water follows patterns that can be learned, though. In a sense it's more difficult because you have that extra step, but it ends up being easier because you get to let go and the water will do all the work. That's been my experience with it after about 100 paintings. My favorite medium for color by far! Love the videos and am consistently blown away by the skill, thanks for the inspiration!
I personally think so yes. I'm using oils for now, and it's much easier. Instead of only a few minutes to paint before drying in watercolour, oil takes 2 or 3 days to dry., and that's not entirely dry either, that's just the surface. So I have all the time in the world with oils to mix and mix to get a colour and value that works with what I already have, and what I see in my reference.
Would be awesome to see a quick tip from Kim Jung gi on visualization, or just him talking about that in a video, I m sure people would find it very interesting!
its in his online course! Definitely a worthfull buy it helped me a bunch, its more about the mindset of how he thinks rather then teaching you the basics of drawing its Great if you already know the fundamentals!
@@aog1747 I can't afford it, now at least, and my location and age defavorises me even more. I'd be interested not to see how he thinks when drawing but how he just visualizes, I'm struggling to get images in my mind and visualizing isn't for drawing only, visualizing it's fun by its own and maybe he has some tips on improving it.
it would be intresting to force kim jung gi to draw from a construction shape first just to see what kind of shape he had in his mind, and itll also make the perspective clearer for untrained eyes

I really would like to know how people get such vibrant paint and how they get so much dang water into the brush. Seeing him slap the torso and arms and hands on such a big canvas and still havin enough water to start the legs is crazy to me. Its like every single water color video i watch was filmed in a different dimension with different laws of physics to make the things they do possible. Either that or there is some excessively fundamental thing that i still haven't ran across in all the videos ive watched. Like seriously, I can gussy up that dang brush up in such a vast quantity of water and its bone dry in like a 1 second swipe of it in the canvas. I dont get it.

Jung Gi was not only a genius. He was funny. Wherever he is, he's having a good time.
Kim Jung Gi: I'm going to do a watercolour painting.
Also Kim Jung Gi: Forget about the watercolour, I am going to draw with my brushes.
😂
This is amazing. Kim Jung Gi is one my favorite artists!

Hatching and filling Shadow is not same as blending colors and creating sense of shadow with those colors
Thank you for the comment! We will be posting Terada san’s character design lecture in the near future (no subtitles though). Thanks again!!
Just watching him paint is a learning experience. He doesn't have to spell it out, if you observe keenly, you can learn a lot 😊

I would honestly love to see more watercolor related videos from KJG! Seeing him handle color in a drawing like approach is really interesting,

I tried to use the word he says "listen to the paper" and the paper said to me "give up, you won't improve"
Then don't listen to the paper
You're a idiot if you listen to it then
Please sir, control yourself
That's just your mind
Your paper is idiot.Try something new 🤣
If Sir Jung Gi wants to do longer videos its completely fine with us guys :)

He draws and paints as naturally as everyone else breathes

👍
Gi is one of a kind
Lol "oh wow, I haven't used watercolor in a long time" is not something you want to hear your teacher say at the beginning of a course in watercolor lol
Stfu he doesn’t teach watercolor
a Master like him will still be Level 10 even if no practice for 10 years
Tf you mean, he is beeing humble, he knows damn right his about to rip your 4ss sideways
Unless your teacher is Jung Gi
Use of negative space at 11:55 is beautiful
Ah..the ancient proverb, "paint like you draw, draw like you paint."
Is watercolor the hardest painting medium to master?
Kazone Art i tried it..it’s doable
But yeah it is soooo hard

Yeah, but unfortunately it's my favorite type of painting. So I guess have to learn it!
All his work is incredible
Rest in Piece Kim Jung Gi :(
Love the simple demonstration at the end!

What is the name of the paper and color master is using?
And it always feels so relaxing and inspiring to see him draw.😊
Kim Jung Gi was a bit cheeky in this video haha

What sort of quick tip video is this!?
this guy is a god
You can learn a lot from watching a master at work…
subtitles are helpful.
11:23 Best Tip
he doesn't give a shit, just touches the medium and makes masterpieces
I master the medium, give all myself and it ends up a piece of shit
🧡❤💜
does anyone know what colour did he used for the shadows of the yellow helmet?

So is he using wet on wet or wet on dry?
Asian Bob Ross without the HAIR!! hehehehehe
Can i change the word inspiration with kimjunggi in the dictionary?
How is this possible? Lol
Btw, this is great stuff!
A nice takeaway: drying water colour doesn't make any sound
