Cutting on a textured ceiling against grout isnt exactly easy, i see nothing wrong with taping it still looked clean. And for any bleeding you can gently scrape it off afterwards
Right on man I'll give you a little tip man that brush you are using to cut in is a little soft get you a firm brush man won't bend on the edges and won't fray as much changed my painting been doing it and remodeling for years so check it out wooster makes a good firm brush it's about 27 dollars but will Last forever if ya keep it clean keep up the good work brother
If you continue to use a brush regardless of what brand will bend and “fray”. You could use Purdy Wooster store named it will eventually do the same thing. I can buy a $28 brush that you say and use it for about 6 months and need a new one. But if you use tape and don’t bend and flex the brush as intended you could get years out of it. Painting is a trade not a hobby and if you need to use tape you shouldn’t be painting because it adds time and less money.
I used to have a stronger Spanish accent some years ago. Once I went to HD to get some caulking for my bathroom. I specifically told the male staff " I need some CO%K to do in my shower" Needles to say, he called his other male staff friend and made me repeat myself a few times. Sure they had fun that day 😅
Great tip. I’ve heard a version of this where you use the wall color paint first to fill in the gaps but I’ve never had the wall color on hand. Using clear caulk that will show the wall color through it is a smart adaptation. I wonder if this could make a clean line on stucco.
Tile guy here. When you caulk that same color of the grout or whatever the wall is (owner preference) you can put some tape to protect the paint and give it a nice finish. Another thing. I know you gave it a quick fix. But it would be better to removed the grout (it’s too thick that it will crack eventually. I know it’s more work. But ideally you removed grout and do it the right way. But you did what you could, 😊
Yeah idk where you live but in the US the TCNA requires all changes of plane to be calked with silicone. So the tile guys who grouted that are hacks & yeah it will crack. You can see some hairline cracks already towards the end of the video
Alternative tip: You can also just do a quick coat of your wall color first to seal the tape. Anything that bleeds will be the same color as the wall and it will also seal the tape from any farther bleeding. Then come back over with the ceiling color. Works great for when you're doing larger jobs and especially with texture.
Tile guy that did the shower in the back house left it exactly like that. I was wondering if this would work. I'll try it this weekend when I paint all the trim
If something that minor bothers you so much to the point that you hire someone to "fix" 2 feet of your ceiling, I can't imagine just how unhappy you are as a person.
As for the job, personally i would have removed the old silicon, caulk the corner and paint them once all is dry then black silicone again for the detail. But , if customer is happy them who am i to judge🤷🏻♂️😁 As for tapes i use either pink tesa or Q1 pink tape, way better than frog tape and this blue tape. No criticism, just my two cents😂👍
ALSO MAKE SURE YOU USE PAINTABLE CAULKING!!! HE DOESNT SAY THAT SO OF YOUNDONT GET THAT KIND YOU WILL HAVE A CLEAR MESS NOW!! Make sure you can paint it! Just use white caulk if you can as well..
Just use mod podge clear matte to seal the tape…..Paint it over the tape with mod podge, let it dry for 15 minutes, paint it and pull the tape. No bleeding through the tape.
to the people thinking green tape solves bleed - all tape bleeds on certain things, uneven grout will absolutely result in bleeding even with frog tape, so its more optimal to go with blue because its half the cost and youll need to run calk over it for the seal regardless if its frog tape or blue. Same can be said for older houses that have shifted a lot, if the walls arent level there will be micro bleed even with frog tape so the calk seal is great for those perfect lines. Unfortunately I think whoever grouted that was in a rush and did a shit job, you can be great at precision touch up work but that grout guy was sloppy - not much you can do to make that specific thing look any better, im thinking they should have found a closer grout match to that tile - its way off
The best thing is learn to brush and brush a straight line but this works but the caulking will eventually Yellow and get ugly just tell the tile guy to mask so you can have perfect lines or float the ceiling to smooth and it’d be easier for the painter/tile guy
I have years of experience and I can truly say never use blue tape now a days because your just buying the cheap version of what it use to be. Same goes with box tape and duck tape. If you're seeking best results the industry wants you to invest a little more on the expensive tape in this era. We no longer live in the era of longevity but more in the era of "recycle reuse rebuy." Oh and buy the way the work tapes do have an expiration date so don't go storing them for a long time thinking they will still be good. You'll just endup getting small uneven strips out of your roll from the glue hardening.
On this particular wall, bro you could use plain white silicone and that will give you your straight white line without paint and it still seals perfect! Using the caulking is great for your straight lines but work easy not hard! It depends on what part is white if any! Glad to see you use your finger the ones that use the tools run into more problems than not..! Good clip my man..🤠👍🏽🫘
You should have asked if the tile guys used a color match silicone(acrylic caulk) for the grout. Some of those silicones(acrylic caulks) are paintable. P.s. I'm a tile guy 😅
Whenever i tape anything I run over it all with a damp rag. It preseals it and barely ever does paint bleed through. If you were to do this with caulk..definitely want better caulk and something that is paintable in 15-20 mins. The caulk in video is bottom of barrel caulk and doesn't last and even though its clear it turns yellow over time and it grab dust in the room so try to be as clean as possible. And painting right over the shi! Caulk it's definitely gonna fail even faster bc you're not even allowing it to cure.
First don’t have knock down texture ceiling in bathroom ….that will eliminate half your problem Who wants texture in bathroom ? Oh because it costs more to flat trowel and builder taper is not good quality usually
lol the tile guys are hacks. You’re not supposed to grout that spot. All changes of plane require silicone per the TCNA. You could already see the grout cracking in the video
He said years and years of experience 😂 don’t mean to toot my own horn but I have been in remodeling as business owner for 1 year never did painting before and the paint goes where I tell it 😂
If this isn't intense enough for you, check out something else. It's not really my cup of tea either, but shitting on it for not being what you want it to be is like going to a ballet and evaluating it's worth against a football game.
Nice caulk bro
Naughty naughty 😂😂😈
Yup
That caulk was nice looking
You should see mine
Aayyyyooooo F.Y.L.
Mr Jalapeño.
You now are one of my new favorite channels now!
I recommend frog tape instead of blue or orange tape, no bleed at all and no caulking saves time and money
frog tape will still bleed if you don't have a smooth surface. so like drywall texture will still bleed thru
Best advice thank you for teaching me how to use my caulk
caulk bled a bit because cutting by eye instead of tape is far superior. it's a great thing to learn. saves time and money
It will dry clear
Cutting on a textured ceiling against grout isnt exactly easy, i see nothing wrong with taping it still looked clean. And for any bleeding you can gently scrape it off afterwards
The caulk bled because. Continues to not explain anything as to why it bled lmao
It bled because the wall is textured 😂 he did great
Any decent painter can cut that by hand
Right on man I'll give you a little tip man that brush you are using to cut in is a little soft get you a firm brush man won't bend on the edges and won't fray as much changed my painting been doing it and remodeling for years so check it out wooster makes a good firm brush it's about 27 dollars but will Last forever if ya keep it clean keep up the good work brother
I use Corona brushes that work the best of any I’ve used and usually are the stiffest yet still soft enough for interior smooth finishes
I have that brush $28 🖌️ that and purdy 3" sash just about only ones ever use 👍
@@Zv1313I have one he's talking about use mostly exterior dam good brush but use purdy 3" swan ,sash for interior smooth especially

I would never think of that. That’s an amazing trick.
I used to have a stronger Spanish accent some years ago. Once I went to HD to get some caulking for my bathroom. Made me laugh. Thanks… and needles to say got me too🤣🤣
Yea I just say silicone anymore after someone heard coc ring
Top job the tiler should have done that! Customer satisfaction points, priceless
Great tip. I’ve heard a version of this where you use the wall color paint first to fill in the gaps but I’ve never had the wall color on hand. Using clear caulk that will show the wall color through it is a smart adaptation. I wonder if this could make a clean line on stucco.
For stucco use duct painter tape and spray it from the same angle and if you don’t have a sprayer brush or roll away from the tape

You are helping me fix my ceiling thank you so much!
Another tip to mention is to use frog tape. It has a lot less bleed through than blue or yellow tape.
Alternative tip: You can also just do a quick coat of your wall color first to seal the tape. Try regular white painters tape not only will you save money but it should provide a cleaner line since the adhesion is a bit stronger
I do tile showers. Put frog tape on the ceiling before grouting.
Great video
Best caulk job on RUclips
If you double your tape up it makes a way better strait line . Way less bleed through.
Good Lil clips bro
Frog tape works even better and u won’t need to caulk
Nice work ❤
That calking sucks it cracks and shrinks not long after. Big stretch is one of the best
Big Stretch for the win.
Not to mention painting wet caulk. Hack job.
Good caulk-tent.
That is a great tip.
UK Decorator here… CLEAR caulk!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
This is a good one!
Great tip... ✨️🩵✨️
What an amazing life it would be if it worries your that a little grout got on the ceiling!
May everyone reading this have this blessed of a life!
Well if u pay for a job u want it done right
Dude clear calk! Awesome idea if you don't have the paint to match the old
Nice
If something that minor bothers you so much to the point that you hire someone to "fix" 2 feet of your ceiling, I can't imagine just how unhappy you are as a person.
Dude new mic, nice
❤
Use frog tape and thin layer of caulk to get perfect lines. Don't use blue tape anymore
As for the job, personally i would have removed the old silicon, caulk the corner and paint them once all is dry then black silicone again for the detail. But , if customer is happy them who am i to judge🤷🏻♂️😁
As for tapes i use either pink tesa or Q1 pink tape, way better than frog tape and this blue tape. No criticism, just my two cents😂👍
Exactly
Use frog tape bro! It’s amazing does NOT bleed! Honestly the straightest lines ever!
I'll vouch for their green tape. Their yellow tape had bled on me many times
ALSO MAKE SURE YOU USE PAINTABLE CAULKING!!! HE DOESNT SAY THAT SO OF YOUNDONT GET THAT KIND YOU WILL HAVE A CLEAR MESS NOW!! Make sure you can paint it! Just use white caulk if you can as well..
Why are you yelling 🥺
He did say Alex Plus which is paintable but he probably should have mentioned that it should be paintable caulk.
Alex caulk is my favorite
Why not just use white caulk?
it usually turns to a different yellowish color over time without paint
Use mod podge clear to seal the tape. Better than caulk. No bleeding.
Just use mod podge clear matte to seal the tape…..Paint it over the tape with mod podge, let it dry for 15 minutes, paint it and pull the tape. No bleeding through the tape.
Your whole channel is the definition of the landlord special.
Boom 💥
I like white caulk the best
Looks good. Use less caulk and less paint
You still gots years2go littlebro but keep at it.

13 year Painter here. I still clear caulk my tape lines
They should’ve got rid of that ceiling
Do you use any other caulks in your hand ?
Use green frog tape. No bleed
Or yellow Frog.
I have years of experience and I can truly say never use blue tape now a days because your just buying the cheap version of what it use to be. Same goes with box tape and duck tape.

Edge lock 3m tape works way better 😊
I'm no expert but I think you can use a paint shield
You should have asked if the tile guys used a color match silicone(acrylic caulk) for the grout. Some of those silicones(acrylic caulks) are paintable. P.s. I'm a tile guy 😅

Lol i read my Alex plus clear caulk and it says wait 3-4 weeks before painting over it.
Just cut it in with the brush, so many extra steps.
First don’t have knock down texture ceiling in bathroom ….that will eliminate half your problem
Who wants texture in bathroom ? Oh because it costs more to flat trowel and builder taper is not good quality usually
Bro aint gotta say it like that 😂
You wont say it. Ill say it, BOOM 💥

I heard this like 20 years ago. For some reason didnt understand..
Caulk.. and paint.. for ceiling lines...what😅
Looks good. But it does surprise me that the customer could not just do this themselves.
Need to use frog tape. It keeps the paint bleeding out better than blue tape.
He said years and years of experience 😂 don’t mean to toot my own horn but I have been in remodeling as business owner for 1 year never did painting before and the paint goes where I tell it 😂
U can just paint over the grout, just cut into the corner and no wasting time. Same if not better results!!!
blows my mind a homeowner can't figure out how to fix it
Blue tape is the worst. Trust me. Use frog tape
If this isn't intense enough for you, check out something else. It's not really my cup of tea either, but shitting on it for not being what you want it to be is like going to a ballet and evaluating it's worth against a football game.
This guy caulks everything
If you paint right away. Paint will crack on fresh caulk. For sure
Would be easier and look better if you taped the tile off then then painted
where you at man
Try lightweight spackle
😂 if that really really bugged her then that is the least of her issues 🤷♂️
Why the caulk?
calking is just so you have a smooth edge to cut against.
Because the texture of the wall can lead to gaps in the seal of the tape ….
@@martinnunez4919 ahh that makes sense! Thank you
Yoooo.. whats the best way to color match a wall?
Most paint stores can scan a chip, if you are able to cut a thin piece out. An inch square is more than enough.
Foo I taught you that😅.
Yeah but how much could you be making by doing something like this? And how do your customers find you??
The customer has more money than she knows what to do with 🤯🤯🤯
Green tape, frog tape, better results
Use yellow frog tape, you will have zero bleed through
Never use a finger. Use a square edge with the corner cut off to form a triangle bead. Also never paint silicone.
I like black calk more
Get 3M precision tape! 6620
So tape, clear caulk, and paint right away? Let the caulk get tacky first? What?
Take your tape off when the paint is wet. You’ll get a straighter line
Frog tape sir!!
Never use clear Alex like this. If you paint over the clear before it dries, it will crack the paint. Ask me how i know... Dynaflex 230 is much better
Remember not all calk is paintable, only real painters know there’s paintable calk
Just use frog tape and you don’t have to silicone
BBBRRROOO!!!
If you don't want bleed then use frog tapes
I prefer Top Gun caulk
That’s the wrong caulk, you are using windows, doors and trim. The one you needed was kitchen and bath
Bro picked the worst cheapest caulk. Other than that looks good
