      +TheShapeH31 That's the thing about Freddy, the more people fear him, the more powerful he becomes. The more powerful he becomes, the more he has control over Springwood. His influence probably made Max and the others think she did it to herself.

    Originally, Sally Kellerman was in the script as the guest but Cavett was then allowed to pick the person he'd be interviewing. He picked Zsa Zsa Gabor, because he stated he thought she was the "dumbest person he'd ever met in his life, and he'd never have her on his show in real life." For me, this film is where the Elm Street series started to go wrong (yes, I think Freddy's Revenge is a decent sequel). I much prefer Freddy as he is in the the original film, Revenge and New Nightmare, as opposed to how he is in Warriors, Master and Child. But I must admit that I do love this scene. "Welcome to primetime, bitch!" is indeed a classic line.

    • @ImNathen
      @ImNathen 8 лет назад +7

      you're just wrong lol. Wes Craven didn't help direct Freddy's Revenge and that's why its possibly one of the weakest in the series. Shit got weird whenever freddy was ACTUALLY on a talk show and entered real life, remember that shit?

    • @zufgh
      @zufgh 8 лет назад +2

      'Shit got weird whenever freddy was ACTUALLY on a talk show and entered real life, remember that shit?'
      I mean, what has that even got to do with anything I said? Anyways, the fact is that Freddie was hugely more menacing and malevolent in the first film, Revenge and New Nightmare, than he is in any other film in the franchise. And I think an Elm ST. film hugely benefits from how Freddy's portrayed.

    • @ImNathen
      @ImNathen 8 лет назад +2

      zufgh It matters to me because you made the ridiculous statement that this was the film where everything "started to go wrong" yet, in the third film Robert Englund delivers like 3 of the most iconic lines and kills and one of his best performances ever, helping define who Freddy was and where he came from. Not to mention the lore is expanded. Not to mention it was one of the most ambitious films in terms of original ideas and screenplay. (there were plans for all kinds of crazy shit, including a giant robot battle), and Craven has personally said it's one of his favorites, but what does he know, he only created it the whole damn thing. Its just matter of opinion really, but the consensus is Freddy's Revenge was a mess of incontinuity, poor character development, and general lack of creativity and this film was where it went back on track

    • @zufgh
      @zufgh 8 лет назад +2

      Nathen Colberg Before we get going here, I'll assume you know what opinions are, yes?
      Anyways...
      'It matters to me because you made the ridiculous statement that this was the film where everything "started to go wrong" '
      Well first off, it's a film series. My opinion shouldn't matter to you at all.
      'yet, in the third film Robert Englund delivers like 3 of the most iconic lines and kills and one of his best performances ever, helping define who Freddy was and where he came from.'
      And putting him on the road to becoming the comedic slasher dasher whose menace and malevolence deteriorated with each passing film onwards. And that's including this one. Also, I was unaware that 3 iconic lines and great kills necessarily constituted a good film. And that's not even mentioning the fact that I never said Dream Warriors is not a good film. What I said is that I prefer Freddy to be menacing as opposed to comedic. What I said is that Dream Warriors is where everything started to go wrong, i.e., while being an okay film in and of itself (I'm not particularly fond of it), it sows the seeds for everything that would come to haunt the franchise for the rest of its dying days: Freddy making cheap wisecracks at the great expense of ceasing to be a terrifying creature and a credible threat, the ott and ridiculously comedic deaths that facilitated the afore-mentioned wisecracks, protagonists that were somewhat irritating, whiny and unlikable etc. etc.
      'Not to mention the lore is expanded. Not to mention it was one of the most ambitious films in terms of original ideas and screenplay. (there were plans for all kinds of crazy shit, including a giant robot battle)'
      Again, to my mind, this was all for the worse. Keep your fucking robot battle, I'll be satisfied with Freddy just gutting someone with his claws. And with regards to expanding the lore. I didn't need to know where Freddy came from. I don't need a pseudo-freudian excuse as to why Freddy's deranged. For me, it's all the more terrifying that Freddy's evil just 'came about', as opposed to some bullshit line about being the son of a hundred maniacs or some crap like that. The only thing I like about the reveal of Freddy's life before being the Springwood Slasher, is that his mother was a nun. I find that somewhat poetic.
      'Craven has personally said it's one of his favorites, but what does he know, he only created it the whole damn thing.'
      And that was his opinion. He was entitled to it, just as I am entitled to mine. His opinion as the creator of the franchise in no way invalidates the opinions of 'any' fans of said franchise. If you were working by that bullshit logic, then I suppose Charles Dickens is infallibly right in saying that Martin Chuzzlewit is his magnum opus, and that his fans are wrong for liking Oliver Twist better.
      'Its just matter of opinion really'
      By Jove, I think you finally got it. It just perplexes me as to why you'd somewhat aggressively chastise me for putting my opinion out there as if it were fact, while knowing all along that my opinion was simply that: mine.
      'but the consensus is Freddy's Revenge was a mess of incontinuity, poor character development, and general lack of creativity and this film was where it went back on track'
      I don't give a toss as to what the consensus is. Freddy's Revenge, in my opinion, is an infinitely more coherent, tonally consistent and overall more satisfying film than Dream Warriors. It has its missteps (the exploding bird, for one), but they are few and far between. And I'm aghast as to how you'd think that people being able to control their dream avatars (which the characters completely fail at doing, by the way, ruining the conceit of the whole climax) is in any way more creative than a demonic figure possessing a young man through his dreams and trying to return to reality through him.
      Anyways. I still don't get what your point was about Freddy appearing on TV.
