I'm new to the series and I used to think bow was shit when facing monsters. I realized I was just shit with it after seeing your videos. I've slowly gotten better through learning which charge levels are best to use in certain scenarios thanks to your videos and how to use the bow in general. Keep up the good work.
Sleepin-N-Snoozn yeah, Bow has always had a weird way of seeming like a sucky weapon when you don't have much experience with it...I've seen it disappoint a lot of 1st timers lol. It definitely doesn't let you down if you stick with it and learn the ropes though.
KPlaysHere Yea, I'm in the training room right now trying to learn how to activate the different charge levels without actually charging them. I guess they'd be considered combos.
It's gonna take some relearning for me, since they changed so much about it. Used to be as simple as 'charge to lvl3, snipe a weakspot, power shot if you have the chance'. Now, there's a lot more extra depth and new move options for it
I really wish they would've stocked Bow users up like they did for Bowgunners. All those ammo types, and we only get power and para to work with from the jump...the blast strategy might've actually been the way to go if you didn't have to manually collect combo materials, grab empty phials from the box, make room in your inventory by discarding bullets, and THEN go fight Nergigante. Definitely looking forward to having full control over what I bring into a hunt in the full game.
Sleepin-N-Snoozn there's blast, poison, para, sleep, power, and close range. For some reason they decided mot to give us the full selection and just stuffed the gunner pouch full of bowgun ammo instead. In the full game you'll be able to carry all the types your bow can load if you want, so it'll be a lot more versatile.
To be fair they didn't give BG Dragon, Armor, Demon or Sleep shots. Crags don't do as much without rapid shot and bows have access to their ultimate at all times. I say they did it pretty well. Though they probably should have left out Cluster 2 shots.
ShadovvWolfie BG's can use demon, armor, dragon, and sleep ammo but like most of bows coatings, those you have to craft. But they are available for you to use in the training room, so they are very much present.
Crazy i love your skill with the Bow :O. I´m a MH Veteran since monster hunter 2 for PSP. I never played Bow. But your vids convinced me to main it this time. Maybe you can make a guide-video how to use the Bow properly?
MaxOx Phemeto actually has a video out on that already. It talks about changes to bow and what moves are best to use as well as some fun combos. It was made after the first MHWorld beta.
bow was always about not too far, not too close.. not sure about mhw. owh and if going online, usually bow guy is the one going for the starting sleep bomb run, with the right matts u could do it 2 times (gog set) so like poison, sleep, para, everything 2 times
Damn. With your first bow v nergi video it looked promising that the other bow attacks could situationally be more useful than dragon piercer. This run kind of just proved that dragon piercer really is the end-all-be-all for bow users. Still looks fun and badass though
Zeus Juice while it does give high dps, I think another reason he stuck with dragonpiercer is because of the limited power coatings in the beta, dragonpiercer is the most efficient way to use them.
Phemeto yes it is a Kilnmouth, you maybe the first to ever catch that. Thanks for the reply. I wonder what the dps is between uncharged DP and the multiple levels. I will keep this in mind instead of just working towards charged versions but instead get in the damage while you can.
Hellkite422 in damage numbers, from what I have seen so far, the charged dp does 50% more damage per hit (I don't know if it is for the first 3 only or for all though). And also I think that there is either a charged dp or a non charged dp, there is no lv 1-3 just 1 and 2 (I may be wrong on this one)
Yo great video, you make me want to learn bow since it looks hella fun. At 0:50 why did you shoot the ground? I know something came up after you shot it, but I couldn't tell where you shot to have that happen. Also at 0:58 how did nargigante get paralyzed?
If you look closely at the ground, you'll see a paratoad - he shoots at it, causing the toad to release a gas which cause para. Nergigante then jumps into the cloud, and the rest is history.
Weird thing to compare to but the sword and shield does 17 damage max per hit at the end of it's combo while the dragon peircer shot does at least 100 on a good hit. I'm not saying the bow needs a Nerf but I'm thinking the sns needs a range extension or damage hike or something. The earliest time killing Berg with sns is 12 mins
I'd like it if they nerfed dragon piercer damage a little but allowed you to gain stamina back while using it (as opposed to the stamina freezing). That way you can move between dragon piercer and charged/power shots more fluidly. But i'm a noob and maybe i'm wrong. Perhaps dash juice would be enough anyways.
Awesome run! So is pre-charging wyvern shot to lvl two not worth it DPS-wise, or do you feel that's just for Nergigante because of his large weak points?
tbh it does get a WHOLE lot stronger with charge levels, and Nerg can OHKO gunners so i feel its safer to just use lower charge ones, the time and stamina to draw is kind of rough in this fight
Anyone else find it strange that other weapons with big moves like the Dragon Piercer on the bow all have cooldowns? such as the wyvern snipe, wyvern breath, wyvern fire, but Dragon Piercer doesnt? i honestly feel like they should make Dragon Piercer a limited ammo type like Wyvern Fire on HBG, because this insane damage output is a bit trivial, imagine if gunlance and HBG had unlimited wyvern fire without a cooldown, or wyvern snipe / gattling didnt either, why is the bow the exception to this?
Yeah as much as i like the bow changes, DP is too good. it shouldn't have a cooldown, but just make it faster charging but less damage, and buff rapid shots (never thought id say that) a bit
i got no problem with the damage of any weapon, but most of the changes to almost every weapon seem to promote a very spammy playstyle, most players are just going to find the most damaging attack each weapon does, and JUST use that one move, ive seen it in every single video so far, it irritates me that most players would rather hit or whiff one strong move their weapon does, or getting smacked while doing it, instead of using their entire moveset and using whatever attack they can safely get away with. the reason why players like you can get away with it, is because you have an impeccable sense of positioning and timing, and you deserve to get that amazing dps payoff, but whenever i see new players doing the exact same thing they either get destroyed, miss half their moves, or get so damn lucky that its remarkable that they manage to get away with it without even trying xD its so strange to witness. with that being said, this game will get patches and hotfixes, so its possible that overall motion values will get changed during the lifetime of the game, not to mention the gear and weapons they give you in the beta are really strong, and im pretty sure the monsters health is especially nerfed, Nergigante by my math only seems to have around 1200 health, whereas most solo elder dragons in high rank have around three times as much in single player when compared to past games, or more, but dont quote me on that, its just my best judgement from the damage numbers ive seen.
So when I fight this guy I always get him to where he’s limping and I wake him up and he sreams in my face so I’m stunned and he does a oneshit spinning barrel roll. How does he not even do that to you in this fight
Just me, or does Nerg have Rajang syndrome? Were the best way to deal with it is to be hyper aggro and kill it before it can kill you. Also appears that gunner, especially bow destroys him (kinda like Rajang too).
Well yes, you have to be aggro verus Nerg because of his spikes. if you can keep his spikes from going black, you will not only trip him more often, you will prevent him from getting higher defense and stronger moves.
just encountered nergigante on the full version (hr13). I feel he got buffed hahahha xD... way more hp than before and has some new one shot killing moves (im fully rare 6 geared atm)
prioritize Dragon Pierce over everything else. But just know how to trip up your monster. in Nerg's case, power shot Vs wings to break causes a trip which lets you get in a free DP
Jesus fuck dude it took me almost the entirety of the time to kill nerugigante with my charged blade and you messed him up in 3 minutes with the bow?...sheeeesh
Thanks for your reply :) Hmmm maybe then it depends on which weapon your palico is using, maybe it affects their behavior I dunno :o Which one were you using there ?
You can also use Flash pods as a slinger ammo. Go into your tent at the start of the quest and access the item box and you can take 3 out with you on the quest.
That would be accurate if this monster didn't have very strong options against far range. If you played in any lobby you would see how easy he can gap close and cross up gunner classes in a blink of a eye. He can do it from any and I mean ANY range. I seen him hop the whole swamp to kill a running bow user. His dunks are worse than his headbuts. His tail has a hitbox on his dunks. :T
ShadovvWolfie id see why you say that but compare him to kushala, nerg doesnt have a way to deflect bullets. His aggressiveness can close gaps but still vulnerable to range attacks. Kushala on the other hand surrounds itself with a barrier that deflects bullets giving gunners problems. Overall, nerg's physical power is strong but weak against range weapons. This is my speculation on the beta only, the full game will be different considering the fact that gunners need resources to craft ammo, which will be difficult.
Angry Birdz6 Your comparing him to a monster who is designed to force players to aim for the head, poison and/or flashbomb if you don't break the horns. This is completely different. Besides Kushala with a gun is extremely easy. Poison him, crag/slashing/clust/fire(wyvern too) his face and you will kill his only options against you besides tossing tornados. Break Nergignate parts and he still has great gap closers that make gunning difficult for newer players and fustrating for vets. There is no surefire safe spot from Nergignate that I know of so far. To be honest with you I wouldn't say he is weak to range weapons. The spikes are easier to break with melee and once you break one he falls down and gives them tons of free hits. I can't say guns melt him. Just Clust shots cause they are stupid. Range weapons have more chances to attack but don't do as much damage in the long run. Expect clusts.
seeing its spikes being torn off and falling from his body is awesome
At 1:33 Nergigante *kind of* sounds like a Clicker from The Last of Us
I'm new to the series and I used to think bow was shit when facing monsters. I realized I was just shit with it after seeing your videos. KPlaysHere Yea, I'm in the training room right now trying to learn how to activate the different charge levels without actually charging them. I guess they'd be considered combos.
Sleepin-N-Snoozn No weapon is shit in MH it's all about preference and skill
Jalen B Yes yes, I know. I've learned that already.
It's gonna take some relearning for me, since they changed so much about it. Used to be as simple as 'charge to lvl3, snipe a weakspot, power shot if you have the chance'. Now, there's a lot more extra depth and new move options for it
I might wanna use bow a lot again :0. Can't wait for the release. Sweet run. Cheers man.
Dude. I’ve been trying this all day. With the bow. I’m so impressed.
Holy shiieeet.... This is a LEGIT hunting! Without using the torch pod + barrel bomb glitch that will be patched in dayone patch
Akanome less of a glitch, more of exploitable high dps farming method
I started playing Bow in World. And damn... It feel so good hearing all of the hits Piercing Shot does from Head to Tail on any monster
KPlaysHere Same here. Has there been more coatings for the bow in previous games over what MHWorld has? It seems like there's not many to choose from.
KPlaysHere I just watched Phemeto's bow changes video. Now I shall became a GOD with the bow.
Sleepin-N-Snoozn there's blast, poison, para, sleep, power, and close range. The sound of the charged arrow hitting it is so satisfying
Crazy i love your skill with the Bow :O.

Acers2K Good to know. I'll keep that in mind when playing MHWorld to see if it gives enough ammo for that many applications.
This is so true. i thought bows were kind of weak but this looks great! Ive been using hammer since mh1!
Nah The only time bow was ever good is in World. In Freedom Unite and such, Bow was complete ass lol. I personally prefer heavy bowgun and greatsword
Strong as usual Phem.
Amazing hunt.
You're pretty good! All the weapons look so much more fun in World.
U really have the guts to use dragon shoot in front of him, I mean this shit is so flexible and its movements are fking quick
anyone else thinking that the palico was taking a celebratory drink at the end? if so it earned it.
How'd u scape it along the floor and set fire to arrow
OMFG! that was insane. bow rocks!
I really hope we are not gonna have to stick to one move with the bow on release day...
I subbed after this. I must learn da ways
That charged shot is op, I mean it’s good move but I should have a cool down or something
Do you ever charge your DP or is it something you use changeless/whenever it fits? Excellent videos and really gives me something to work towards.
Kilnmouth dragon?
also yeah i do charge it occasionally, but nerg has pretty small openings so its safer to just uncharge it
Phemeto yes it is a Kilnmouth, you maybe the first to ever catch that.
Thanks for the reply. I wonder what the dps is between uncharged DP and the multiple levels. I will keep this in mind instead of just working towards charged versions but instead get in the damage while you can.

Jim Rustle is sns the only wepon with a paralysis element?
Dud you are amazing :)
Can't wait for mega dash bow
Legend status!
Subbed,great run
Bow tree?
How did u do that explosive attack?

This isn't a request, but just out of curiosity do you use and melee weapons at all, and if so, do you have a favourite?

Cool. Can't wait to see your runs when the full game comes out!
So dragonpierce is really the attack that you have to work on to improve your dps. Which one do you prefer between hbg and bow ?
Bow for now, but i expect bowguns to be way more fun in retail.
It seems like your basic flow of attacking was charge rapid to 2 and fire, fire 3rd level power, then dragon pierce. I could be wrong though

What bow is that
So when I fight this guy I always get him to where he’s limping and I wake him up and he sreams in my face so I’m stunned and he does a oneshit spinning barrel roll. How does he not even do that to you in this fight
Cade Mulholland rocksteady mantle.
Might just have to main a ranged weapon this time...
About this boss does it regenerate his hp at full hp ? Or does the spikes counts as it hp?
Death Reaper Spikes are just armor not hp
Skills in this one?
Holy damn..i didn't think that the Bow would be that good!!! MAn ima have to start using the bow now :D
I hope to become this good but with the greatsword
Just me, or does Nerg have Rajang syndrome? Were the best way to deal with it is to be hyper aggro and kill it before it can kill you. Also appears that gunner, especially bow destroys him (kinda like Rajang too).

ok. i think i remember you saying if you charge then dragon shot its stronger right?
or if you attack, charge-step then dragonshot then ts stage 3 dragonshot
Jesus fuck dude it took me almost the entirety of the time to kill nerugigante with my charged blade and you messed him up in 3 minutes with the bow?...sheeeesh
Are those flashflies right in front of you luck ? I'm asking because it happens two times in a row and I don't see you calling your palico :o
palicos will use their item whenever they want too, dont HAVE to call them. and my cat has a habit of dropping them right in front of me
Thanks for your reply :)
Hmmm maybe then it depends on which weapon your palico is using, maybe it affects their behavior I dunno :o
Which one were you using there ?
You can also use Flash pods as a slinger ammo. Go into your tent at the start of the quest and access the item box and you can take 3 out with you on the quest.
GunWing Eagle Yup I already noticed that but thanks ^^
I was just amazed with the timing of the palico on the flashflies :o
I always use poison weap. since cat isnt going to do much, might as well get in a poison
Props on using a male hunter character.
Derek Zoolander lol depends on what u like to look at for hundreds of hours. Hey, i don't judge.
Yeah I prefer to inmerse myself in JRPGs, using a female character just breaks the inmersion for me but to each his own.
female armor tend to be better looking... fashion hunting ;)
Not really, male armor is way better from what I have seen in world.
Venom Snake Yeah you're right we want to see heavy cool armor not bikini armor
Champion
GG
😱😱💪🏻
Can I join your squad if you have one?
3'54????? wtf insane bow control...
nice hunt because of you i now know dee way!! xD
Its easier for range weapons because you're farther from its attacks
even though you have to stay relatively close to monsters to actually do proper damage, if you are too far away you dont do any damage at all.
That would be accurate if this monster didn't have very strong options against far range. If you played in any lobby you would see how easy he can gap close and cross up gunner classes in a blink of a eye. He can do it from any and I mean ANY range.

ShadovvWolfie that is why i say that nerg is more vulnerable to range attacks compare to kushala. Im just supporting my point thats all.
